    I can't wait to see what the ORV transformation is going to be. I'm still waiting for the rigid upper arms for the rear suspension conversion-then I'll order the whole set. I really enjoy watching your videos and seeing the installation of your newest creations that eliminate Tamiya's flawed designs-taking a slightly toy-grade kit to the next level of a higher performance model. Keep up the great work.

      Trust me it will be awesome. As for the upper arms, I am stuck. The hardware needed is not easy to find so that will make assembly a pain. On top of that, ball joints pop out and can save the suspension from broken parts in impacts. I am worried that a rigid link screwed in place can eliminate give. What do you think?

    Have you designed a bash plate/guard for the gearbox on the Lunchbox, Grasshopper, etc??
    I was also thinking about a pair of spot/driving lights for the Lunchbox front bumper? As you have already designed various spotlights, I was thinking a two piece mount that would act as a clamp on the main bar under the hoop. Then you can fit one of your existing spotlights.
    😎

      Na I havent. I have never had any issue with excessive wear on that part of the gearbox. The lights are a good idea, I will need to look at that!

    I'm so glad I found this channel and your products. It's reignited my love for the tamiyas I have. Keep up the great work.
    As for the high lift stuff your working on I feel I now have a reason to purchase one. The low transmission has always bothered me. Would you ever consider maybe some smaller scale axle housings for the high lift?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am glad you like it! I tell you the low transfer case gave me the worst buyers remorse. I have owned this since 2007 and it has annoyed me on every outing. Hmmmm, axle housings....now that is a great idea...I know there are some really nice ones available but they seem to cost a fortune. You know, I will keep this in mind! I really love the idea.

    • @AMPROEngineering

      No, there is no better price as a package through shapeways unfortunately. I spend at least a grand a month there and there give zero bulk discounts. The body mounts are also discontinued since there are aluminum ones on ebay available

      AMPRO Engineering - Something to raise the engine/transmission mounts about 15-20mm...... It's roughly the same Trans as the Hilux/Bruiser, except no transfer case, and the motor mounts in FRONT of the trans. Same basic frame rails, same mounting points (except Semis have no screw mounts on the side, top of frame only)

    Hi there, I have a stock Lunch Box, is there link to a package that in can upgrade the suspension with your products? also what shocks would you recommend? Si

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, Episode 14 has links to shapeways for the parts shown. Hardware is separate and needs to be sourced at a hobby shop. The recommended arms are the standard zero offset ones and you must run a stock silver can motor. Anything else is too hot for those arms. Hard impacts will break them since they are nylon and not the stock ABS. As for shocks, the CW01 for me needs the factory Tamiya aftermarket units. They are the only ones that come with the correct front and rear springs with appropriate spring rates (remember the rears need very, very weak springs to work correctly. I hope this helps.

    Hi, I’ve installed the shock brace kit to my lunchbox but I’m still running the standard shocks. I’ve secured them like in the video but they are tight and don’t allow the shocks to pivot. Can I get a ball shaft to fit in the shock ends to get that movement? Or should I change the shocks with ball cups built in?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Adam, this set was designed for the oil filled shocks. to get the pogo springs to work you may need to trim slightly away from the bottom of the shock base.

    Aside from offering a pretty cool look, what performance benefit is gained by fitting this mod? Great channel btw

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It helps with absorbing the shock of the wheelies since the shock assembly is more in line with the wheelie bar. It was something people had been hounding me for for a very long time so it was simple enough to make. Thank you very much btw, it is fun designing all these parts!

      Thanks! Do you find the factory shocks to be good/adequate? I am shortly going to buy a lunchbox for my son and I to build together (I wanted one soooo bad in the late 80's!) and wondered if it is worth upgrading them, doing the famous 5th shock mod etc or whether it runs just fine on the stock shocks, thanks!!

      Jeez these are the original yellow short shocks from the 1980's. I have no idea what the part number is and couldn't find anything definitive from a search. If I come across something ill let you know. As long as you have an 80mm shock, it should work. Hope that helps!

  • @keithchristner4522
    @keithchristner4522 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    ok, I know you are trying to sell a product here, but that looks almost identical to the rear shock mount on a super hornet. have you tried to put a super hornet rear shock mount on a cw01? does it interfere with the wheelie bar?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it does not work. Dimensions are off and shocks do not line up. Also, they are super hard to find. On top of all that, these are designed specifically not to let the motor crash in to the rear shock like they do stock. It does not interfere with the stock wheelie bar. I also have something like this on the Hornet rear end.

    • @keithchristner4522
      @keithchristner4522 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AMPRO Engineering oh, if you don't mind suggestions, I'd like to throw this idea out for the front double wishbone arms. since the omega suspension converts the rear drive to a hex, what about making front arms that would accept the front c-hub, steering knuckle, and axle from a 2wd traxxas (stampede, rusty, slash, bandit) and then there would be the option of using modern wheels/tires all the way around, since most everything takes 12mm hex wheels on all 4 corners these days. or, this might be a simpler design, a plug that would go into the 12mm hex on a front wheel to go on the tamiya front axle. just some thinking and throwing out some ideas.

    PLEASE SAY YOU'RE COMING UP WITH A COVER FOR THE MOTOR THAT LOOKS LIKE A REAL ENGINE!!!! 😲😲😲😲
    All of my friends in R/C have asked for it. There's ONE on the market, for an exorbitantly expensive 8x8 military truck.... and the engine cover ALONE is $100.00!!!😠😠😠😠
    If it fits Hilux - it would also fit 1/14th Tamiya Semis (Globeliner, Grand Hauler, Scania, ect...)
    If IT IS what you're boiling in that cauldron.... MAYBE(if I may!), do a Hi Performance, quad cam V8 for gas trucks & and Desert racers, a sorta generic looking V8 Turbo-Diesel, for crawlers, mud bogged or just heavy haulers..... AND maybe, a BIG (12 liter+!) Turbo-Diesel for our 18-Wheelers. Being 1/14th Scale, the "engine" cover wouldn't be much bigger than a 1/10th Scale, 6.5 liter V8! 😉
    Sorry if I'm pushing too far! I was not only a R/C racer since the early 1980's, but was also in "1:1" Motorsports since you got your Hornet! (I pride myself on paying attention) The great stuff you're showing us has put my creativity levels into overdrive. 😜
    Of course - I could be wrong about your entire plans!

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, yes I am, haha! I have a plan for the Tamiya Toyota High-Lift but I think you are right about the semi-trucks and other cars in general. They need more engines and correct ones at that. Like you, I am also into 1:1 cars so I know what you mean on the details. My only issue is that I don't own a semi to make stuff for. I have a friend with some so maybe I might need to borrow one.
