    I will get one of those saws hen I find a great deal on one. I just bought the similar model, the MACCAT. I have a Homelite EZ Auto chainsaw which my grandpa bought for my at a yard sale for $5 when I was age 7. I just got it running a couple months ago after finding it again buried in their storage trailer. I also have a Shindaiwa 300 I bought at auction than ran/cut for only $15, great shape, with all paperwork/receipt, a original owner was a family frined. My other piece of sentimental equipment is my IH Cub Cadet 70 lawn tractor which I bought for $50 from a family friend 2 years ago. I’m currently rebuilding the motor.

    Hi Jay! That’s a great classic chainsaw! So glad it holds such fond memories for you! It really neat that you have your own outdoor ice skating rink! That should be loads of fun for you and the family when you get it expanded. Thanks for sharing!

    First chainsaw I ever used was a mini Mac 6 . I was 14 years old first used it . Was my dads . We sold Christmas trees at his store . 1970s up . Was my job too go up the the rows and cut the trees with the mini Mac 6 . In the late 70s and early 80s raced go carts with 49 cc Mcullogh racing engines . Super hopped . Straight alcohol with klotz racing oil that smelled like candy 😂. 👍

    I have a marlin 336 lever action rifle that my grandfather gave me many years ago. Everytime I shoot it or even look at it I get all nostalgic.

    Hi Jay ,like all your videos, each one is funny , educational, full of advice, all around great. Love the diy ones, so I can try it. Can't wait until your pond freezes, so to see what happens, with what your planning. Oh hey the American flag you have in your chain saw shop. Hang it up in there , whether you have it on the wall or ceiling, please I have six flags to see from the yard. Thanks for all your videos, I think they are all worth watching. Keep them coming . Can't wait to see what is next.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Linda! Yes I have plans to hang the flag up! Just haven't gotten around to it yet! I appreciate your comment, that means a lot that you genuinely appreciate the content! That means more than you know! I cant wait for the pond to freeze! Its going to be AWESOME! Hopefully if I get to rent the mini excavator in the spring/summer I can expand it and rough estimates should put it at 60x40 ish! Imagine that? I can see me and the boys skating down there with the wife, family, friends down by a fire pit? Its going to be awesome and I shall bring you along each step as ive been doing! Thank you again!

    Lawn Boy lawn mowers. We always had several old push Lawn Boys that my brother and I would mow about an acre with. Since then, I hate mowing grass, but love collecting and tinkering with old Lawn Boys. Again, just something about the vintage sound and smell of them. I completely understand what you are talking about. My other on the other hand does not understand why I have collected and stashed 14 push mowers under our deck!

      HAHA noone understands the "itch" to collect haha! Thats a cool story! I wish I had 14 chainsaws under my deck hahah! Thanks for sharing! Take care Derek!

    I have the 1986 eager beaver saw passed down to me from my father. I got it running but exhaust muffler vibrates off and seems to not run well after it gets hot .the saw also brings back memories and is obnoxious.

    Good evening Jay..
    I know the feeling about the saw... All to well..
    I have a bunch of stuff I have gotten from my relatives over the years and I still use them.
    Some stuff is over a 100 years old.. still in working order.
    It is amazing to use any of it..
    Love it..
    Funny thing.. I just gave one of my sons that exact saw.
    I got it brand new in 1984..
    It has been in my garage attic still in the box for all these years.. He had to put it together...He loves it.. Him and his wife just bought a house and he has used it a lot already..
    Yup they are lite and easy.
    I cut my fire wood for the last 35 years with my father's McCulloch Mac 10/10 .
    I was with him the day he got it. 1966..
    Well I am glad you have your memories with your saw as well.. makes me smile.
    Great video.
    Stay safe and always be kind.
    Take care my friend.
    Go 603

    Off topic of saws. I don't have my old mans but I shave with a straight razor (cut throat razor) there's nothing like. I get rashy using disposable razors but not with my straight razor.

    My girlfriend brought her ex hubby's chainsaw to our new home and it is a McCulloch Eager Beaver 2.0. I have never used one before and the only instructions are those on the chainsaw and I don't know what part is what. Could you please explain how to start it as simply as possible?

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Running a chainsaw is very dangerous. Id recommend finding someone whos familiar who can hands on show you. Verbal instruction via youtube comment isnt the safest thing! Be safe please.

      I disagree. This Mac still
      Rocks 30 years later.
