The mold was broken when fellows like Sammy Davis Jr. + a gathering of other Americans made sense & we listened, rather than dismissing many rehashed tired values (Wanna Be Blow Hards) try to put over on today's cramped & confused deaf eared society.
Wow. Sammy Davis Jr. and the comedian were both under 5'6" tall. James Brown I think was just 5'6" and just superbly talented. The guitarist with the "chubby cheeks" really played a heavy song. Bless him! LIFE isn't easy BUT it's beautiful with FAITH. Shalom.
The cards of life may have dealt him a 3 for body/looks but Aces for musical talent and Perseverance for staying in the game in those difficult years .
Wow. Wow. I remember Family Affair with Brian Keith and how wholesome it was. I MISS television with decent standards. What is the hell we have today in 2014?!!
Yes, I remember Family Affair too as a kid. Seems like I read somewhere that that little boy died in childhood and his tv twin sister died at a young age.
Great TV, great talent. Sammy is a legend, this proofs the huge impact of African Americans in our society, from way back to current. Did not have it easy then, but never have. The fact is Americans recognizes talent.
Wow, that opening 1-2 punch of commercials for denture glue and wrinkle cream shows that the producers knew their audience! Sammy's last number seems to be his attempt at Elvis' last number from his 1968 Comeback Special.
+Randy Inghram That was the same cause of the death of Walt Disney's mother, Flora Call Disney, a carbon monoxide leak in a new home in North Hollywood Walt and his brother Roy purchased for their parents after the success of their film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Fortunately, today there are carbon monoxide detectors available the same as smoke alarms for homes, both required by law for multi-unit dwellings in many states.
Such great talents together. We are missing something in the world today. All of us who lived during this time truley have some wonderful memories.

What made Sammy the greatest is when you think about what he had to overcome to get where he was as a black man
+AngelsTakeMe2Heaven Once he became Frank Sinatra's buddy he didn't have much to fear except within himself.

Please re-post the Hollywood Palace episode 6-14, that was removed by the copyright, and I would very much like to be able to watch it! Thank you!
Wow... Seeing this in the midst of the George Lloyd protests, over 50 years later... (sigh)
"Aretha Franklin's wigs provided by Wig City of New York"--I wonder if that was the weirdest promo Tufel ever read?
LOL!!! I needed that.😄
That clock in the corner was that GMT?
Sammy told everyone "I want you to perform your worst, most unmemorable material".
Hollywood Palace wasn't LIVE?
No, it wasn't live.

Pop music used to be so much better. Now we have to put up with all these posers and AutoTune freaks
Actually, Malcolm is not at far right, he is 2nd from far right... wearing purple trousers.

Funny how times change. I guess the Hollywood Palace used to be a venue for elite entertainment. Now it's just anyone's night club
Why would the Governor of Hawaii need to be selling houses--or cigarettes?
Imagine a white host making 60 jokes and references to white skin and culture? Strange obsession... Aretha was amazing!
I wonder if two of those boys could have imagined what would happen in a few decades...now on to the kid in pigtails.
