Yes, they were “a beautiful couple”with class who looked beautiful together while reading the TelePrompTer here on the old “Hollywood Palace” Show In 1970. I wonder if 91 year old Angie attended Burt’s funeral in 2023. Probably not.
R.I.P to the incredible Burt Bacharach - Burt and Angie host this particular episode with such grace, class and elegance. It's the end of an era with the loss of yet another of our cherished entertainment luminaries. This particular sequence of poems and spoken word moments from Angie really got to me. Their daughter Nikki was only 4 here, and the true love and enthusiasm emanating from them as young parents is heart warming and infectious. The fates can truly be cruel sometimes... so wish their family situation had a happier ending. You'll get a chuckle out of Bert & Angie & their musical duet action too... 😪🙏
Saw Burt in 1994 or 1995 in Memphis in concert with none other than Dionne Warwick. I have been to many concerts and none I have enjoyed more than these two and his wonderful music. Thank you for allowing us to see these old shows again. They are as good the second time around to me. Forever a Burt fan.
What the world needs now is to go back in time when raw talent, class graced the stages of America. And of course , we absolutely need love! RIP BB. Thanks for the goldmine you left us.
A time gone by when television was actually ENTERTAINMENT!!! From the late 80's & early 90"s it was all downhill for T.V. & music when Jerry Springer & rap music hit the airwaves!! Sad that we'll never see the likeness of these shows again!!!
49:58 Burt Bacharach conducting/in concert, in his prime: the tourist audience likely has no appreciation of the extraordianry event it just witnessed. Plug in your stereo buds. The outtro of "What the world needs now" is positively orgasmic. Angie & Burt make a georgeous couple. Thank you, 'Hollywood Palace'!
The cool thing about shows like these was that you got exposed to a variety of different forms if entertainment. Radio was much the same way back in the 70's. Helped a person develop a diverse palette for art.
Since my adolescence during my musical studies, the greatness of this musician has been my main source of inspiration. I listened to him every day and his style entered my veins, refining my musical taste unconsciously. A true influencer! The elegance and beauty of his wife, Angie, had won me over in those very years, when she played Agent Pepper Anderson! I liked everything about her, but I didn´t know she was Burt´s wife! The Internet and gossip information from the world was not so common. What I mean is that I loved both of them, in a different way, of course, and what is strange is that they were a couple! Isn't that strange? To see them together, collaborating artistically, noticing so much love between them and then to know that it all ended, leaves a tinge of bitterness...
Good wholesome entertainment 51 years past. I'll be going to my 50 plus 1 High School reunion next month. Many of the classmates have passed on, I'm happy to be still above ground!
I don't think there will ever be another one as amazing as Burt Bacharach.I guess it's appropriate to.say RIP Burt Bacharach even though I like many more already miss him terribly.
The heart of the entertainment world! Tv audiences were more innocent and wholesome watching shows like this. No one knew what a hard business show biz actually was. It took a lot of muscle, a lot of yelling, a lot of broken hearts to put on a show like this. Not for the squeamish.
We'll never again see a pretty actress sitting on a stool and reading literature aloud on American TV, and if they ever bring back the Hollywood Palace with a showbiz couple hosting, it will be Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, God help us all.
I believe a car wreck made him a quadraplegic a few years later..sad deal.. One of the greatest athletes in history..any sport.. Won the Kentucky Derby at 23 in 1955, and at 54 in 1986..Over 8800 wins in over 40 years..
That second song from Dusty was from an album that had just come out that week, called 'A brand new me' (US version) or 'From dusty with love', UK version. a pretty good album.
Back when legends dressed in style and had class. Here, you see respect and dignity and not the disrespect and horrible antics we see today. Give me the Hollywood of old. It was better.
@@alexrybeck2649 Thank you for noticing my spelling error. I have corrected it. As the son of an English teacher, I should have known better. Again, thank you.
"Make it easier on yourself" by Sam and Dave was just Ok, didn't Jerry Butler do this song later?? If he did, his rendition was awesome! "The Look of Love" was from the movie Casino Royale and DS version and the Sergio Mendes/Brasil 66' version were both good! "This guy is in love with you" was written by BB about his love for Angie D.
I think, if you look closely, though, her bellybutton isn't showing. The waistband of her pants comes up just high enough that you can't see it. This was the same for Annette Funicello when she did the Beach Movies. Mr. Disney didn't want her bellybutton to be showing. She wore a bikini but it was high-waisted, as well. Funny to think how old-fashioned it sounds now because everyone on TV is always half naked anymore.
Fittingly enough on the 13th day of the month, something was missing from the opening on Hollywood Palace: no “brought-to-you-by”, only the direct message “AND NOW” with the drum roll in the background. I would have complained about it. At least the announcer did mention a famous girl’s name-Angie Dickinson! Soon HP would be gone-in less than a year (Bing did the last show alone).
When I saw the lineup all I could think was, "Please don't let Burt sing!" But when they gave the mic to Willie Shoemaker, all I could say was, "Bring on Burt!" By the way, can anyone name a famous jockey from the past 10 years? 20 years? 30 years? The sport of kings ain't what it used to be!
Some of the comments are obviously from people who didn't grow up during this time. They mention the show being contrived and cheesy. Well, for some of us, it brings back warm memories just the same. For those people who are such critics, some day, you'll get to look back on what.....shows about cheesy fake relationships on desert islands where the "contestants" have very little clothes and less sense. Don't like the old show, move on.
It's unfortunate no one ever asks how the horses are? Can we get your comment Mr. Horse? Well my leg is broken I'm in a lot of pain. What else is new......They had to put me down. That's horse racing.
RIP Burt Bacharach, and thank you for your fantastic music 🙏💯💯
❤
Burt and Angie were a beautiful couple. What Grade A class back in these days, all around. Thanks!!😊

I Loved Burt Bacharachs Music.
Burt Bacharach and Angie Dickinson made a cute couple.
@@frederickrapp5396 hello there I love Burt bacharach's music.
“The Look Of Love” sung by Dusty Springfield is by far the sexiest song of all time.

I'm a Burt Bacharach fan since my elementary age until now on my 60's a fan forever..
I always have loved growing up listening to Burt Bacharachs Beautiful Music.
I'm 65 now. I remember this. Beautiful memories. Wonderful people. Thank you.

Sam & Dave sound so great singing Make It Easy on Yourself!

Totally enjoyed the program thanks so much for posting made me feel like a kid again. I wish we had those times back then here and now today.
OMG! So many memories! Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome, my pleasure!
I loved this show.

It's too bad they aren't anymore. I think they were married to 1981.
Loved this show and Scoee Mitchell!
The cool thing about shows like these was that you got exposed to a variety of different forms if entertainment. Radio was much the same way back in the 70's. Helped a person develop a diverse palette for art.
This is priceless! Thanks for sharing :)

Obrigado, Bacharach.Para mim, você está ao lado dos grandes brasileiros Tom Jobim,Edu Lobo, Egberto Gismonti .

Angie is so genuine, sweet and beautiful.
Sam and Dave, a national treasure.
Burt Bacharach a Brilliant Genius Composer
Love the way Mr. Bacharach conducts the show's theme at the end.
thanks for posting, God Bless Burt Bacharach.

Classic episode. Great performances by all. The Hollywood Palace is a show that is truly unsung.

So cool to see Bill Shoemaker on this show! Super Talented Athlete!
Dusty looks gorgeous ! love her performance
Dusty...oh my heart.
Love the end song with Burt conducting.
what a show... so much talent....

Sam & Dave: Wonderful singers

Burt & Angie, so sweet.
So much polish and glamor in that era ....
Really enjoyed this. Thanks so much for posting!!
Vaya pareja que hacían la bellísima Angie Dickinson and Burt Bacharach. I adore them!!🌷💜💚❤️
The voice of love.
She is a beautiful flower.
She is a diva!
Love them singing together!! ❤️❤️
Love Dusty!
It's amazing to hear a duet between a legendary couple.
Good time to have a 19" color TV.
I remember the Shoe great horse jockey -- my mom and dad would take us to Long Acres -- and we'd watch the horses and they'd win money.
I believe a car wreck made him a quadraplegic a few years later..sad deal..
One of the greatest athletes in history..any sport..
Won the Kentucky Derby at 23 in 1955, and at 54 in 1986..Over 8800 wins in over 40 years..
Burt and Angie sing as well as so called top talent of today.
That second song from Dusty was from an album that had just come out that week, called 'A brand new me' (US version) or 'From dusty with love', UK version. a pretty good album.
My favorite song by Dusty . . . Awesome . . . The Look Of Love . . . just so sexy! Also loved her version of What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life.
What a voice Dusty.
...love watching this.
Where is the time machine how did we go from this to what we got now
Back when legends dressed in style and had class. Here, you see respect and dignity and not the disrespect and horrible antics we see today. Give me the Hollywood of old. It was better.
Beautiful couple.Genuine talent
Commercials and everything!!
Fantastic.❤😂
Nice to visit My childhood Days!
Angie is a doll!
What a toned waist and splendid shape Angie Dickinson had here at 38 in 1970. Her magnificent womanhood.
I was stunned by your comment that Angie was a waste.
Then I realized you meant “waist”
😄

The Golden couplle💝

Happy birthday Angie 89
Burt Bacharach, 1928-2023
Angie was hot
Angie Dickinson went to the Oscars with the same dress two years before:
"Thoroughly Modern Mille" and "Camelot" winning Music Oscars®
Wow, today a celebrity would not be caught twice in the same dress. I think Angie looks just stunning. Or should I say, twice as stunning!
"This guy is in love with you" was written by BB about his love for Angie D.
no jerry Butler did it much earlier and had a big hit with it.
“This Guy’s In Love With You” was actually written as a love song for Herb Alpert to sing to HIS wife.
The promo for THE F.B.I dates from the previous year...the graphic on it should look like the one on the ROOM 222 spot.
I thought Cher took credit for being the first woman on TV to show her bellybutton. I think Angie had her beat..
Angie Dickinson is sooooooo gorgeous!
Sam and Dave don't sing "Hold On I'm Coming, they do "Make it Easy On Yourself"
They ate that song up as if it were their last meal. Outside of their usual "bag," as Burt put it, but they did a great job with it.
One half of The Swanky Modes!! Yeah!
I wonder who the female back up singers are?
Jan, Robin, Cris, Bobbie and Leslie. Chosen because they all had names that could be for a man or a woman, so nobody would suspect.
They were a truly lovely match ...so sad it did not last.....
They were a “truly lovely match” as you say, but their marriage wasn’t. Never marry another person because you make a lovely match.
32:27 Sad that they didn't stay together(Burt and Angie). Their daughter comitted suicide in 2007 and they divorced in 1981.
Double-bell euphonium.
I feel bad because their daughter commtited suicide.
Now this is Variety not Equity 🎵
Fondly remember Hollywood Palace and the Tegrin and Nytol commercials. Like mini plays. Everything ad is so loud nowadays. And all pharmaceuticals.
Shoemaker was 4′ 11″, but had a big talent!
Sam & Dave stole the show.

The time before Hollywood went totally woke and uninteresting.
Scoey might have been a good Bart for Blazing Saddles.

those two had "swinger" written all over them
Theres so many hints of their marital issues.
I don’t Have sustained patience dabany very power 2005 at now
the commercials are dangerous desinformation...
It's unfortunate no one ever asks how the horses are? Can we get your comment Mr. Horse? Well my leg is broken I'm in a lot of pain. What else is new......They had to put me down. That's horse racing.
Too bad Angie wouldn't sing out and held back.
Loved the commercials

Bill Shoemaker doesn't do half bad singing.
Angie dear, a little pitchy...
