    Hi Victor, You miss out on one essential part. Very fine sand, dust does not dissolve with the alcohol and will remain in the bearings. You actually need to have a (small is enough) compressor air nozzle to clean the bearings.Initially, open the bearings and blow every particle away and then put them in preferably diesel and let them soak for a while. Repeat twice. When that is done, back to the air nozzle and blow them dry again. Next step, add a few drops of sewing machine oil to the freshly assembled bearings and start blowing the spokes of the wheel to gain rotation. Use about 30 sec for each wheel. This also works if you put too much oil in the bearings on any regular day, get the air nozzle out and give it a a good 10 km blow and they will start rolling again like they should :0) Hope I see you in Sweden beginning of may but I corona doubt it. :0)

      Hey Jerry! That would indeed be helpful! Wasn't sure if I should include it in the genreal guidelines, as not everyone might have access to such tools. I sure hope to come by Sweden once we're through this! :)

    First cleaning ever. I realized my bearings don't spin correctly for a while ago, and I wanted to buy a new ones, cause those were wet and I thought that affected the quality. Hopefully this works, but I'll check it out tomorrow on the road! Hope you are doing great, Viktor.

    Go high end with Bones Swiss or Ceramics and take care of them. Shields on the outside but raw shieldless on the inside. hit them with some speed cream every once in a while. Cleaning Tip: every 6-8 months remove them from the wheels, put them in a shallow dish and clean them with automobile (spray) brake cleaner (from any auto supply store), spin access fluid out of them - then hit them with some zippo lighter fluid, spin again then finally hit it with a few drops of speed cream. they will be better than new.
    i have been riding the same set of ceramics for 3 years using this cleaning process and they are as good a new.

    Hi! Thank you for your video!!! I did the cleaning, the wheels look fine and they speen freely in my hands. Then when I put them in the frame only in few position the wheel doesn't spin so freely anymore. What is wrong? It only happens on the central position and back of the left skate...

    Hello, Viktor. I have just watched your video and I think it was very helpful. I would like to ask you something. See, I have a pair or rollerblades that I bought in the US a very long time ago. I am from Chile and when I came back I had been using the blades for a long time but never really cleaned them. This is why I came to your video. But when I am over cleaning the bearings I would like to rotate the position of the wheels so they can wear off evenly. Problem is I just realized that the second wheel in my blades are of a smaller diameter than the rest, is not a mistake (it might but I mean that the company made that on purpose in order to get a frame closer to the ground they 'lowered' the diameter of the wheel on the part that the foot is also lower). Basically my question is... how to rotate these wheels?... it seems not possible to do the 1-3/2-4 method I've been seeing online a lot. Could you help me, please?
    greetings from Coquimbo

    • @thorupviktor
      @thorupviktor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋 Such frames are called Hi-low frames. You’re totally right. For these you can’t change the position of the second wheel, and will have to settle for just flipping it in the same position.

    Awesome!! I just subscribed to your channel, The best bearing cleaning video I have seen!! Quick question: Do you remove the bearing covers exposing the bearing balls? Or Do you leave the covers on? Also how often do you clean the bearings?

    • @thorupviktor
      @thorupviktor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I always leave the covers on. I have found that if you spin the enough, most dust will fly out, and oil will go in :) I always clean them after a rainy session, but besides that about once every 6 months.

    Good afternoon, Victor!!! Thanks to you, I got up on roller skates, I am engaged and train according to your methods, according to your video training. There is a difficulty only in English))) I bought Rollerblade TWISTER EDGE 110 3WD roller skates. Wheels are installed: HYDROGEN 3*110 mm/85A, MADE IN USA. Bearings: TWINCAM ILQ 9 CLASSIC PLUS. I am very happy with the choice. I ride only in dry weather, for 2 months of skiing (May-June) I drove 520 kilometers. I have a question: what was at the beginning of the purchase of rollers that now, the bearings and wheels are turning properly, I did not disassemble them, did not clean or lubricate them. They spin as well as you do after lubrication. If I don't ride in the rain, does it make sense to lubricate them at all, or are the bearings designed for the entire service life. Thank you in advance for the answer. Sincerely, Roman. Russia, Moscow.

      I will tell her you said hi! ;) First of all you would want to spend a ton of hours on the inlines to get used to and comfortable on the wheels. Further, you will have to adapt for a higher stroke cadence, and adapt for a "lighter" skating, where you really focus on developing force right as the skate touches the ground, and less at the end of the push due to the fact that wheels don't grip into the surface, unlike ice blades. Have good fun!
