Thanks, Drew, for taking the time to make this video. I’ll be laying out a ton of effects on the TRIO 28. I’ve built a number of large pedalboards using wood, so I have a good understanding of setting up proper signal flow and running patch cords. Temple Audio products are exactly what I’ve been waiting for. I’ll be able to approach my next project knowing that I’ll end up what an elegant solution. Between the wealth of information posted by experienced users like you, and resources such as Pedal Playground, I’ll be able to get past any quirks in the building process. Many years ago my dad, who was a highly experienced electrician with an eye for detail, introduced me to beauty of zip ties and their accessories. I wish he was around to see the results of this build. Anyway, thanks for the mini-workshop, and the inspiration to get busy.
Drew.....right off the bat I see you have a specific taste of the tone you seek and I'm right there with you dude.......it's gotta be stereo......gotta be ambient capable......gotta have the versatility of adding gain at the right place......very nice and i get it....BLESS YOU FRIEND
Really great. I too have used Temple Boards for years, and about to build a new one. My key tip is: Use 3M pedal tape. Much better, much easier. But be sure where you place your pedal :-)
If you have a pedal that is on all time, like your compressor, try mounting it underneath. Yes there is a screw that will come through but you can have the screw sit between pedals.
you probably dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother these days :)
Bro, it’s great! Even at its NAMM Pre-release, it’s sounds were amazing and they weren’t even finished refining everything. I feel like the QCortex is what we all want the Kemper to be. Lol
Hey Kevin, that’s like 90% a patch on the ZOIA called Loop Forrest! And then a very subtle delay from the D1 to further emphasize with much less prominent repeats. Again, most of the heavy lifting was coming from the ZOIA. The thing is, it’s very sporadic and can sometimes wrong away with brief foul sounds. So I’ve been hunting down a way to recreate it but with more control. I pretty much nailed it with the pitch shifting of the Thermae into a more ambient and glitchy delay from the Specular tempus. With that set up the glitchy octave noises always stayed in key and were a lot more reliable! Either way, I’m sure there’s other ways to achieve it that don’t cost $1000 in delays. Hahaha let me know if you experiment with it! Oh! Also, the microcosm gets pretty damn close on its own as well!
I run with a D1 delay as well. I find i dont actually use all the goodies that it has to offer. Walrus Audio is a great liitle boutique pedal company. They stand by their product.
It’s the Bloomery by the late Tapestry audio! They shut down but I’m almost positive you can find one on the used market! Try Reverb. They’re slim and compact yet still feel like a full sized pedal! Built like tanks too
Isaac Berkuta I really appreciate you saying that brotha! You know, that’s exactly what I was thinking! Lol I actually ended up getting rid of the tumnus and the GoldenFace! I just wasn’t feeling either of them. I also, jumped up to the temple Duo 24! 🙌🏼
Drew’s Tone Talk what did you end up replacing them with? I wish I could stick to what I have and stop swapping out chasing the perfect sounds. In saying that I think I’m close. Your video is inspiring as I’ve wanted to do a demo of mine
Isaac Berkuta I ended up getting the Jackson Audio Golden boy (king of tone circuit) that covers a lot of ground and PettyJohn hooked me up with their new ROUS (a modified RAT circuit). Between the two, im able to cover a lot of ground! I’m right there with you though man. I want to end my search but at the same time, I enjoy trying out new things! I love hearing demos and seeing what/how people are using their gear so you definitely should! If you have an Instagram, definitely hit me up there so I can see your board!
Nice video, and rad board! Question? Regarding your Goldenface OD, since that's always on, would it have been possible to remove it from where it currently is, move the tap tempo delay into its space, move the Tumnus and the Speculan Tempest (spelling?) down, and then finally put the Goldenface OD on the top?
100% yes! Lol I actually ended up doing something similar to that! It’s a never ending puzzle and I enjoy the process a lot. Trying new things, thinking it’ll work only to get on stage for rehearsal and finding that it doesn’t. Haha I’ll often find a work flow that works for me for a couple weeks and then completely change it up for no reason. Again, I just enjoy the modularity of a pedalboard!
Axel Garcia Hey brotha! Bottom line, I think the Simplifier is great! Its got this natural warmth thing going on that I really dig. It’s definitely the best bargain out of the three for the price and it hold it’s own against the other two. It’s a clean pedal platform, don’t expect to get too much gain from it like you can with the iridium or stomp, that’s not necessarily a bad thing though, most of us use drives for our dirt needs anyways. You get the most gain from the Marshall setting. In short: Iridium is most amp like. Better than the Stomp in my opinion. HX stomp can get there but it takes a lot of work to dial it in and I’d almost say IR’s are necessary. It’s super flexible but that can also be cumbersome. Simplifier, is great. It’s just simple and sounds really good. Lol Do you have any of the three yet??
Drew’s Tone Talk Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! So, I have owned both the Iridium and the Stomp. The Iridium was wonderful, but I felt as if I could never get the levels right in the FOH due to it not having XLR outs. The feel was great, but still, I didn’t find it that much better than the Stomp. And I agree with you on the Stomp because although it sounds great, I got tired of menu diving. 😂 I’m excited to try the Simplifier out now! I was hoping you’d mention the “analog warmth” it would provide as advertised as a “zero-watt analog amp/cab sim.” Have a blessed day! You have wonderful tone!

Thanks for this bro!
@@drewroze4168 No, thank you for comparing these 3. Real stuck choosing between the ACS1, Simplifier or save up for a HX Stomp and this helped a lot!

what size templeboard is that?

Funny enough, I’ve been mounting my “Always on” Benson Preamp underneath. Lol
The intro alone got a thumbs up and a subscribe. Sooooo lush and creamy!
Is there a how to play intro tune of this vid? Great sound!
Bro... thank you! Lol I’m gonna try and remember what I did and get back to you. Hahaha
RIGHT? Heaven to my ears.
Any walkthru of the intro? XD fx / settings used?
I love recording and playing with the Iridium it sounds gorgeous. Though I’m highly considering selling all my pedals for the Neural DSP Quad Cortex.

@Torin Stanley Yup, I have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)

What size board is that?
Temple duo 17, brotha!
I think i have the same size temple board. I’ve been using since 2015 and it’s such a great pedal board. Highest recommendation.
What size is it?
what pedal is making those glitchy octave up cascading reverse sounding noises in the intro?

Drew’s Tone Talk thanks
Hey drew great vid, what kind if cables where those in the beginning of the video?
Yep! That’s exactly right! Highly recommend them too.
Really great video and well edited.
Maybe a barefoot tall boy for the Tumnus?
Isaac Berkuta I really appreciate you saying that brotha!

Great video Thx which temple board is that you have here ?
Nice vid man!
Hey man, I appreciate you! I’m having a blast with all this stuff. I always change my board so I’m trying to document it every now and then!
How do you like the Simplifier? How would you say it compares to an Iridium or HX Stomp in terms of feel and sound? Thank you!
Axel Garcia Hey brotha!

What guitar are you using ? The tone is very nice.
Vey Lovely vids broo
Thank you! I appreciate that 🙌🏼
