It was probably explained away pharmaceutically the same way all the viruses are. As far as the staples I think those were jack’s way of reminding you not to mess up because they were completely unnecessary

I have fond 1996 memories of the first one. My friend got it and a PS1.. but he didn't have a memory card. So, I spent the night at his house and we stayed up till dawn.. eating caffeine pills and playing RE1 until we died, then passing the controller. We never made it past the snake boss.
Yawn is easy, just run around the book shelf while taking shots with the assualt shotgun or grenade launcher. Alternatively you can just climb back up to the second level and fire from there
I had the PS2 variant. it really had a large space between where you grip your left hand and the left analog stick, and as a kid it was quite the challenge. the start "button" was a neat little pull cord that made the controller do a chainsaw rumble sound. I enjoyed it.
why do people hate it? I freaking loved it. The arcade mode was awesome. I seriously consider re5 to be way worse (and boring af). In re6 playing as wesker son was awesome and the ending in chris story was fucking epic. I also loved the quickshot mecanics and how every character had their own style and design. So much details that make it good. Also coop was fun. I actually really liked re6 (I only like re4 more than re6, but I think that may be changing with the upcoming re2 remake)

My WTF moment is how the A.I. just stands there during an in game death sequence like the chainsaw man or what have you. For example in RE 6 this deginator looking monster attacks you onto a sink and if you fail to shake it off it forces itself along with you down a bladed drainer head first...slowly. And your partner is just standing there.
I agree with your number one completely. That regenerator guy scared the piss out of me the first time I saw him, one of the few monsters that actually gave me chills in that game and I am relatively desensitized to that stuff. Been playing those types of games my whole life.

The chainsaw controller was arguably outdone by the Magnum revolver Wiimote and combat knife nunchuck combo made for the Umbrella Chronicles spin-off, mainly because they’re a lot easier to hold during long playthroughs and they work well with several other Wii shooting games :)

From what I can remember (older than Jules) Tofu Survivor was a challenge presented by Capcom for the players who claimed to have beaten the first RE in under 2 hours using only the knife and no herbs. Basically, Capcom called BS and created the Tofu mode, though aside from the Gawd Awful acting, Hunk was my favorite character in RE2.
I fucked up my first play of resi 4 because of the regenerators. I was too afraid to collect the thermo scope and saved just as they came into play..... I had to go all the way back to the start and learn from my mistake :'(

It took me forever to hget to Yawn (the snake) as I kid. Now I can do it with half an hour.
