He's holding the chalk against the direction he's drawing, which causes the friction of the chalk board to force the chalk to repeatedly get knocked off the board

This was a Very Complex Physics Vectoring Question involving, Friction=4.3 Newtons,of,a Moving Velocity=86.6 K.m./hour moving Vehichle,Wind blowing =56 K.m./Hour against the Vechicle at 49 Degrees Angle.Gravity was on the Moon not Earth at an Acceleration= 1.6333333 Meters/Sec,of course the added ficticious Wind was added just to further,Complicate the Vectoring! Don't forget to Change K.m. to Meters 1st because your Unit Measure in Meters must be converted Compatible, before Quad-Vectoring!!!!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH after watching and studying his 8.02x lectures and then watching this, this is the fucking greatest video made ever. i love whoever did this
it's really easy, just tilt the chalk at an angle in such a way that the border of the chalk is the only part of it touching the black board... with the border touching the board you push it to make the line and the chalk will skip. Something like this: \__ if you push it to the right >>> the chalk skips you have to push with some force, you can't have a light hand, you really got to put some force in the tip that is touching the board. Alright, I hope that explained it Cheers
While I was reading the book for the love of physics there was that student uploaded a funny TH-cam video tittled "some of Walter lewins best line ' and I searched it...and this how I am here
@ffiinnrroodd You have to hold the chalk very lightly near the back of the piece, and have a flat edge pressed against the board. You need to supply just enough pressure that the piece of chalk bounces, but not so much that it draws a line. Try doing vertical lines and eventually you'll get the feel for how to do it. Also, I think it might be easier with thick sidewalk chalk than it is with blackboard chalk, so try that too.
I ::guess:: it has something to do with friction between the chalk and blackboard. + the force pushed down relative to the angle he's holding the chalk. He holds the chalk in this angle / and pushes it
This video has already been viewed 12 million times

Lectures by Walter Lewin. They will make you ♥ Physics. hello professor
lol
They're some sweet-ass lines, man. What did you expect? :D
now its 35 million times
He made his point
Nee, gestreepte lijntjes!
Then he made another next to that point
Then another
Then another
Then another
Etc
SpetsnatzLegion 336 oh and then another - don’t forget that point! Its very important.
Lol
And he made it clear
... I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting that kind of line.
Same here, but still enjoyed that video more than anything I saw in past year :D
Even me 2
Yes he was known to snort cocaine during lectures
I too
I don't supposed this😂

Me: Finally! I can use a line from him for my yearbook!
Video: *Literally* draws dotted lines.

Has any student simply openly ask, "HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO THAT?"
They have, and he's taught them. There are videos on it and everything.
There's nothing like appreciating an artist creating their work
You made this comment 11 years ago. I wanted to remind you.
1:05 does he really make a dotted curve
yes, he does explain that as a tutorial in a video, just youtube it
He is a wizard..
he's a what?
No I'm the wizard 😁
@@bogdanakrasnova it's a reference to Harry Potter, where he's called a wizard. He responds with "a what?"
Welcome to the Internet, where a compilation of a guy drawing various lines can get nearly a million views.
I know some were out there some line nerd will be maturbating his/her little heart out watching this
A GUY??? That's fucking legend Walter Lewin.
Perhaps that's why the million views, just sayin'
lauroflorin go somewhere boy this GUY couldn't draw you better hairline
Its not just a line but a DOTTED one. xD
Not just a line, but a dotted line. Not just a guy, but Walter Lewin.
I came here from "For the Love of Physics." And I now believe that he's quite an interesting person, he even developed a unique skill of making lines.
Same here
it's so satisfying to watch this.
I don't have and idea of why.
Apparently you've found your ASMR response trigguer

I could watch this on repeat for hours.
It feels so... satisfying.
I just spent two minutes of my life watching a guy draw lines.
not a guy he is The Walter Lewin
HOW DOES HE DO IT?!
The best teacher by far.
Experience and little bit practice
I'll take blackboard over PowerPoint any day.
You can do this on a computer too though. Watch me: .................. =D
@@emperror85 try making a curve like him..
I would love to see how he does that in a slo-mo close up. This is some magic going on
He's holding the chalk against the direction he's drawing, which causes the friction of the chalk board to force the chalk to repeatedly get knocked off the board
Walter Lewin speaks about this video in the new video MIT uploaded yesterday(Dec 5)!
AWESOME!
That's close enough to the warble sound I use in Reason 8. New sample time!

I bet they feel so honored
dude thats some mighty fine control. Being able to do dotted lines like that
i cant believe someone made a video of this.
Those Lines can change your lives!!

Whenever I need sleep, I watch this video.
That "drrrr* sound kinda makes my mind sleepy and slow xD.
this man can make dotted lines like no other
this video is so satisfying for some reason
Watch it in 2x speed...You will be having a adventurous bike ride♥️♥️
That is the most satisfying noise I've ever heard from a blackboard.
I came for lines. Was not disappointed.
Now do it on a white board!
Not possible
it sounds like farts if you close your eyes

You fart wierdly man

Because this man is awesome and also famous for doing it ;-)
Dang! Now I have to go through all his TH-cam videos and look up each one of those freakin' lectures to see why he put those dotted lines there.
Haha nice motivating factor !
One has to master the ancient art of physics to be able to produce dotted lines with this much speecd and precision. A Master.
:D Thank you!!!
*Virus of 3 idiots-'How an engine works'*

this proves that everything is quantized.
WL's vibrating thumbs would definitely be a hit with Mrs Lewins after "lights out" at their place.
That is such a satisfying sound.
@vallieinars lol, I'd like to know more than anything how he draws those lines like that ._.
..Ages ago i saw this video, memorized it, liked.. Mesmerizing combination of Art and Lectures..

Oddly satisfying. Could watch this all day :D
no clue what i just watched, but it was awesome :D

such a perfect dotted line in the least amount of time!!!

+100 internets for you
Those are awesome dashed lines.
I love that sound
That's Lewins' favourite part of his lecture.
he has some crazy awesome vests
I came from the book. Totally worth it
Ya same here😂
Really....most important lines in mit
I used to do this all the time when I was in high school. It takes a while to learn it, but it's pretty easy once you know how to do it.
the soundtrack of this vid is that awesome that it could be used in every action movie
@FloopDubstep lol, tbh I didn't think anyone would have the time
I saw the link in his book 'For the love of Physics' and didn't waste a second in opening it. It was TOTALLY worth it. Hehe.
Most satisfying video on the internet
Soothing.
This guy knows things normal humans don't
Haha awesome video! He is an excellent professor and lecturer! He mentions this video (I assume) in the love for physics video, I had to find it.
And they said the perfect ASMR video doesn't exist.
HOW THE FUCK IS HE SO GOOD?
+GamingGrub15 Because he taught physics for longer than youve been alive. Probably at least twice as long actually
The immediate next logical step after finding this, is to search for the remix
this man makes drawing lines an art
Am I the only person who wonders how he draws those lines?

this is ..amazing.
The curved dotted lines are the trickiest. I've tried it.

Check your pants, do you have a brown line? Is it dotted?
HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHHAHAAHAAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAH
