I think it would be really neat to do a video about “things people THINK you can’t do on Chrome OS, but actually can.” Maybe you’ve already done a video like that? I’m a recent Chrome Unboxed convert. 🙂
Great review! I still use a Logitech K810 via Bluetooth that I swear by. It's not specifically meant for Chromebooks, but it works perfectly anyway, short of a couple of "specific" keys. Hell, it was made before Chromebooks were even thought of. The big thing for me was that it's backlit. Add everyting you said about the connectivity of the K580 and it applies to the K810. I turn it on and it just connects and works flawlessly. For a mouse, I got spoiled and can't give it up. I use a MX Master 2 and had a MX Master before this. I know it's a BIG mouse, but it's so worth it in every way. The connectivity is the same way. I turn it on and it just works. You have to realize that Logitech is big into gaming mice and keyboards and a couple of their best ones, the G903 Lightspeed and G502 Lightspeed, are considered to be 2 of the best mice on the market for gamers AND ARE WIRELESS. Logitech definitely knows what they are doing with wireless peripherals. Their full size mechanical keyboards are the same way. Don't even get me into the battery life. I can go weeks without charging.
Good call on this keyboard and mouse! Just got a set for my Chromebox at the office and it's a dramatic improvement over my previous choice, a Perixx ergo keyboard. I really wish Logitech would produce a Chrome OS keyboard that is ergonomically correct (split keyboard, raised keys, curved wrist rest, etc). As Chrome OS increases in popularity, I think they will come up with something. Thanks for the review!
Ordered the mouse after this review from Best Buy. Exactly the size and smoothness I was looking for, no issues when waking up my Chromebook. Great purchase for me.
Hey! I just got this keyboard, and I connected it with Bluetooth at first, then decided to switch to the USB receiver...but it's having a hard time working with the USB. Have you heard of that issue?
Thank you for a fantastic review of the logi k580 keyboard. I was so impressed after watching this video, I went and purchased the k580 and couldn't be happier. PS I'm actually typing this comment with my new k580. 👍
There's a pebble m350 and pebble i345 that looks the same as that mouse your using. It's exactly the same aesthetically. Not sure what's the difference i345 is for iPad only that I know.
I just purchased both keyboard and mouse. And i cant get them to connect through my Samsung chromebook 3 Bluetooth. How can I get them to connect to my chromebook?
Bluetooth issues still remain. Bought a new Pixelbook Go and a new Logitech M355 just last week and bluetooth authentication fails every time. Pixelbook Go will connect to K480 keyboard via bluetooth just fine. M355 will connect to MacBook Pro via bluetooth just fine. However, they won't connect to each other.
Thanks for the review. Would you know if these devices work great with a ChromeBox? I am about to buy a ChromeBox and was wondering if this review maps to Chromeboxes
I have the Logitech M355 mouse and use it in Bluetooth mode with my Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook. It disconnects if I close the lid or Chromebook goes in sleep mode, and I have to turn the mouse off, then on again and it connects instantly. Have you experienced this at all? Any thoughts?
So I did some troubleshooting and it ended up being that my type c dock that I bought from Amazon was causing the issue. I had a dock that was connecting to my pixel slate which was allowing me to display dual monitors.. I connected a cable instead of dock and all my issues went away and I'm rocking and teleworking.
I wouldn't get this keyboard, I would get a kemove snowfox or Anne pro 2. They are both mechanical keyboards and are way more satisfying. And yes they both have Bluetooth.
I work at an accounting firm and I love hearing the clicking of keyboards and mouses. It is soothing lol. But lots of people at the office have been buying keyboards and silent mouses. :( I feel like I will be the only one left making the clicking noises and will stand out lolol
Bought the M355 mouse for use with my Pixelbook Go. Won't connect via Bluetooth. Looks like a spike in similar reports to Logitech and Google. I'm assuming it is a chrome OS update issue if any of you have made that combo work. Stuck using the little USB receiver and an USB C adapter. :(
no, this one is made for chrome os, the pebble and most bluetooth mouses won't pair with chrome os correctly. there is some special features for it, etc etc.
@@steeltiger1465 , That's not true, most bluetooth mouse pairs just fine on Chrome OS. There is no special feature on this version of the mouse that the Pebble doesn't have. The difference between this and your standard Bluetooth mouse is that it's been certified to work with Chrome OS, so you can be confident that when you buy this mouse it will work with your Chrome OS device. Wouldn't that be true for most mouse then? Yes, however the average consumer wants that sort of badge of approval and so that's why this mouse exist. Same goes for keyboard for the most part, however Chrome OS keyboard layout is different so when it's certified to work on Chrome OS, that also means that the keys are labeled correctly as well.
@Lsbigworld667 lol you edited your comment. You definitely said other Bluetooth mouses don't work on Chrome OS at all. No this mouse does not have a better wheel, they're identical. How do i know? I have used both, I have a pebble for my windows work laptop and a m355 which came bundled with the keyboard.
I picked one up and love it so far! I use the USB connection when I'm switching between work and personal MacBook pro. For my Pixelbook go I use regular Bluetooth and it works every time. You mentioned in the video that the wheel button also works great. Is there a way to customize the wheel button? I can't seem to find this in the settings. Perhaps someone can give insight on this?
The keyboard's build quality doesn't stand up to regular use: The rubber adhesive "feet" on the bottom will peel off, if you are in the habit of sliding your keyboard. Worse, the battery cover breaks easily. The "teeth" are easily bent out of shape. It's pretty flimsy plastic and prone to bending if you don't know how to slide it back on properly.
I'll definitely look into the K580 keyboard. I like the number pad on it. I'll skip the K355 mouse. I like the Logitech M535 I'm using now with my Chromebook.
Anyone else having issues with the top row of keys? My refresh key doesn't work, and the key on the right refreshes, the multi app button goes to fullscreen, and so on, they all do the function to the right.
Anyone else have consistent issues with screen casting from your Chromebook to any capable TV? I have a 2 month old HP Chromebook X360 with an i5 and 8gb of RAM and it barely works. My Surface 3 and iPad has no issues so I know the TV isn't the issue. For reference, an older Chromebook I had also had issues in this regard which is why I assume it's a Google issue.
I still don't know why you would want to use an extra keyboard. Why not use the one that comes with the computer. The keyboard is not backlit? Wow. I like using a mouse, though. It's easier for me to use than the track pad.
That was my question as well. It's nice to hear there are alternatives but every Chromebook already comes with a keyboard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I could see maybe getting the mouse if trackpads are a pain but a keyboard as well?
@smile cute God, I hope not... I'm just going to assume the video is most suited for Chromebox users or people with older or otherwise crappily-keyboarded Chromebooks.
Logitech is pure grade "A" crap. every keyboard/mouse combo i have owned has been crap or have crapped out. hell i bought 5 wireless controllers and all 5 were either bad from the start or went bad in just over a week (all 5) in one week. the last key board/mouse combo would not transmit 5 feet with the latest drivers and brand new batteries. PURE CRAP so i think your getting paid to push crap fella cuz Logitech sucks big time !.
A numeric keypad? In 2020? Ok, no, thanks. Otherwise, the review is very good. Thank you. But seriously, a survey to check how many people actually use a numpad more than once a year?
@@Voltstorm0207 thanks for the feedback. I am actually interested in a broader sample. Really, how many people need the numpad to enter a password (in the era of biometrics unlock), or for entries in a spreadsheet, etc. so often to justify the extra space and asymmetry of the keyboard?

I'll die happy when/if they make a Bluetooth version of the Pixelbook Go's backlit and supreme keyboard..
Just bought the M355 Pebble mouse, based on your recommendation, and it's an absolute treat to use! Thanks!

would this be good with the Chromebook Duet? The keyboard that tablet comes with is good for on the road, but for productivity it's not the best.
Thank you. I need them both!
Is the K580 available in white or other colors?
Great Review! What laptop stands do you recommend for Pixelbook?
Can't get hold of these in the UK ?
I really like the mouse, it is a bit too small, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable and the all the button feel clicky despite being silent.

Bought k580 windows version today and it works very well. 👍👍👍

I have a new chromebook and a external keyboard by MX I'm wondering if it will work through Bluetooth
Does it have backlight?
I have this exact same setup and for some reason my mouse started to lag like 3 weeks ago. It is the most annoying thing.
How long is the battery life in either the mouse or the keyboard?
What is the brand of External Monitor used? What cable is needed
Do you prefer this mouse setup to the Apple Magic Trackpad 2?
How can I access the print screen and numbers on the right side of the keyboard
Is the mouse and keyboard are multi device?
Can you connect by bluetooth only (not using the usb receiver)?
Ihave the 580. It's a solid performer
Is there a comparison video for K580 vs K780? I'm trying to decide between the two
Logitech makes some really good keyboards and mice. I bet these would be great for a Chromebox desktop!
Well of course, they are kind of made for that purpose
@@janne3006 Possible but he didn't mention this in the video... At least not that I noticed.
Thanks for this review. Do you know when the keyboard will be available in the UK? I've messaged Logitech but no response.

Can it run on windows 10? No joke im running on a old hp pavilion one. Sigh need to upgrade to new keyboard asap
very similar to mk470 slim Logitech - btw does it work with Linux?
You are talking about the M355 but the M350 looks exactly the same. Read the model number before buying by site.
Found this in the archives 🤣Glad I did but is it possible to update what's available now? Thanks Robbie

Cant find the UK keyboard which is a shame
What video editing software do you used chrome unboxed? Is it for chromeOs?
Tried to order these online, but they are not yet out in Europe (more specifically the Netherlands) it seems.
Like the Logitech K400 or K410 keyboards/touchpad with a USB dongle better, and less expensive.
Have you tried the Logitech M585 bluetooth mouse since with a back and forward button ?, And I will be getting the K580 soon.
Actually the Peeble i345 mouse for iPad looks identical
I bought that keyboard and mouse because of that video :P On a side note, what brand and model of watch are you wearing ? Thanks :P
I agree, I have both of them, the only thing that is really weird is that there isn’t a caps lock

There's no reason to think this wouldn't work on a windows machine right?

oooh "Search + a" learned something new! I use the assistant a lot setting timers for cooking, laundry, etc.

have had the keyboard for a few months and love it. no issues what so ever
But it works just as fine on Chrome OS
I really doubt it. A good mechanical keyboard is far better for the same price.
