For vol 9, I predict it would be about everyone who fell into the abyss trying to navigate and find an escape from the unknown realm. With some characters fighting through some inner struggles that happened in vol 8 and certain dangers that lurk within the realm's forest. And there may be a subplot where the others in Vacuo try to make plans to prepare for Salem's next attack on Shade academy.

This Volume is going to be a blast. There is so much that is set to happen. What I am begging for is Summer Rose making an appearance in Volume 9 since a lot deserve to know if she's alive or not, some new enemies and a possible confession to Summer's past.

I honestly love this theory and it would absolutely be awesome to see an Odin based character be Nora’s real dad in one of the other realms. Because we haven’t heard anything about Nora having a father, the only family of Nora’s that we know of is Ren, her friends, and the Mom that abandoned her when the Grimm attacked.

If written correctly Norse mythology could explain a lot about the lore of RWBY. For example the wisdom from realm of the dwarves could explain the crazy weapons we see from the show. I think all the realms taking pity on Midgard or leaving behind gifts or wisdom could explain a few things; the weapons, creation of dust, the Faunus. This volume will be full of lore, explanations and character development. Hopefully it can serve as a training arc too. I mean they did fall into a world with two suns so I wouldn’t be surprised if there would be a Luke Skywalker reference or character in this season to train them. Ruby still can barely fight without her weapon but is getting better with using her eyes. Weiss is OP as it is but I miss when she used her sword as a…well…sword instead of a wand. Blake still can barely hold her own in a fight without support. Jaun has come far but his fighting ability is still lacking compared to everyone else and honestly I want him to be the one to finally kill Cinder. He’s gonna have some shit to work through bc he killed Penny so that’ll be two people he feels like he failed and let die. Maybe he’ll have some suicidal thoughts, maybe be tempted to stay in the realm of the dead due to guilt. And if nine realms would be too much to cover perhaps there could only be two but they are a mixture of the remaining 8. Alfheim, Asgard, Johtenheim, and Svartlheim could be the one world of light, life, knowledge and creation. And Helheim, Nifelheim, Musfelheim, Vanaheim (I apologize all for these misspellings) could make the one realm of darkness, death, power, and destruction. This would explain the gods origins and wouldn’t negate the narrative already set forth.

Speaking of the girl who fell through the world, I've said on a previous and I'll say it again. I think that tale is a reference or nod to Alice in Wonderland, since she fell through her world and ended up in another. Since this reference of Norse Mythology has been used since the beginning, I kind of got the feeling that the writers (including Monty) are trying to say to us that gods (if any really do exists) are just a species of super beings who have mastered the ability to create and shape life as they see fit. Oh and if anyone's interested, I recommend reading Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. Really good novel to read on things like Ragnarok and how Thor got his hammer (along with how he got it back from a frost giant who stole it, hence how Nora came to be).

Nuckelavee is *not* a creature from Norse mythology, it’s from Orcadian mythology.
Now, it is connected to Norse mythology, as it is believed that the Nuckelavee is derived from one of the many Celtic water horses, and some unknown Norse creature.
We know close to nothing about actual Norse mythology, hence why a lot of it is so ambiguous
I doubt this will come up in RWBY, but the Nuckelavee is a creature of water, specifically salt water. It would rise from the ocean to wilt crops and murder people. It’s only weakness was fresh water, and the best way to escape it is to cross a river.

I saw a theory on tumblr about how those that fell could possibly return with, well changes, and that they are at the Shallow Sea
Personally if I were to say what changes would happen to each character I'd go with:
Ruby becoming some form of Dryad with a rose on her head that signals her mood/emotional state making it harder for her to hide her insecurities from those around her, or perhaps she gains the ability or knowledge of how to unlock magic, if only to see the nuclear fallout that would be Cinder and Salem seeing her perform a trick that cannot be explained by dust Semblance, Maidens, or even Ozma's gift
Weiss could perhaps have patches of her skin crystalize or as the tumblr post that inspired me suggested her tears turn into dust as they fall
I can't think of anything I'd like to happen to Blake in this context, though if they are at the Shallow Sea I could see Blake getting away unchanged due to already being under it's effect, kind of
Yang could have the latent magic that was passed onto her by Raven ignited allowing her to turn into an Eagle or Phoenix
Jaune could gain odd shaped scars over his body that smolder when he thinks of his regrets, a reference to his allusion Jeanne D'arc's death by burning at the stake
I can't think of anything for Neo

  • @Rman94
    @Rman94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The multiple realms theory might have some merit, the Vaults themselves could connect to a different realm each. I don't know if they'll encounter those who have died or not but if it's another race of people perhaps they could meet either elves, dwarves, and or plant based people. Like the Faunus but with plant traits instead of animal traits, aka the Flora.

Glad to see you back on the theory grind! I love the ideas you brought up for Nora and the elves, and I just realized that both Ambrosius and Jinn have elf-like ears, so maybe they could be related to that idea.
As for one other thing about Norse mythology that could play into the Yggdrasil theory; there is actually a lake under the tree. This is where Odin sacrificed his eye in order to gain Wisdom. If there's something like that where RWBY is now, I could see it possibly relating to the relics, either the relic of choice (due to the aspect of "wisdom" and Oz saying he hid it differently) or the relic of destruction (particularly if your theory on the spirit of the sword being the lady of the lake is correct).

Now, when I look at RWBY from a broader perspective, in terms of where the creators drew inspiration from to create individual characters and their threads, I begin to see that there is much more inspiration from Norse mythology than just Nora. I prefer to warn you right away that most of what I will write now is only my overinterpretation.
So Nora is obviously Thor, and the tree in this new world may be some equivalent of Yggdrasil. Most probably heard or came to the conclusion that Ozpin might have been slightly inspired by Odin - to him Qrow and Raven in the form of birds provided information about Salem activities, just like Odin's two ravens (Hugin and Munin) brought him news from all nine realms.
    And now my overinterpretation begins.
In mythology there is a figure of a god named Tyr, who in one of the myths lost one arm when it was bitten off by the great wolf Fenrir (Loki's son) - And Yang is quite a brave and militant girl whose hand was cut off by Adam - a faunus.
Further, in mythology there is a famous figure of the great trickster - Loki, whose most famous ability was the ability to change shape including sex change - and in RWBY we have our beloved Neo who also has similar abilities and is very cunning and duplicitous. Just as Loki was not on the side of the gods or the giants, Neo did not cooperate with the protagonists, but she also was not completely on the side of the antagonists, causing problems for both sides.
As for the Phoenix/Night's theory of the nine realms:
Asgard, Wanaheim and Jotunheim together can be considered the land to which the divine brothers went. Why ? Well, vikings considered giants a race of gods like Aesir, after all, Loki is by birth a giant, but he is counted among the gods. In addition, the first Aesir, Buri, married Bestla, a giantess, so basically every God has some giants' blood in him.
While this part of the Alfheim and Svartalfheim theory is possible and interesting, a small error has crept in here. Svartalfheim and Nidavelirr are the same land, inhabited by dark elves (the inhabitants of Scandinavia considered dwarves and dark elves to be the same race) while Helheim was not part of Niflheim, but a separate realm. Niflheim and Muspellheim existed before anything else, and it was out of the mists of Niflheim and the fire of Muspell that the first living thing emerged - the giant Ymir.
It is rather doubtful that the Grimm come from Muspell as most of them have little to do with fire and it was mentioned that the god of darkness himself created Grimm. Personally, I think that they have more to do with the land of mists, because poisonous rivers flowed through Nifelheim, which could be compared to the Grimm River, which Salem used during the attack on Atlas, but as I mentioned - overinterpretation. Midgard is of course a Remnant and there is not much to add here.
If I ever have an idea related to this topic, I will try to remember to edit this comment, but for the moment that's all. As I mentioned, it is only my overinterpretation and I understand if someone does not agree with it, so I encourage you to comment and discuss.

This is a nice theory especially about Nora. But I think the theory could fit Jaune better, we know Nora was abandoned by her mother in Mistral.
But Jaune's backstory and where he lives has been ambiguous to the point that even his sister Saphron didn't even say where she and Jaune live. Even their older sister in red should've left home, but only Jaune and Saphron are living away.
Despite everything, Jaune was the only character introduced that seems unfamiliar with remnant. Even to the point he didn't know what aura was despite his age.

I remember coming up with some theories for what each realm could function as/what races come from there like a week after the finale. (This is gonna be a long comment but I've been studying Norse mythology for a hot second so I went a lil ham):
    Asgard:
    God of Light’s domain
    Midgard: Remnant
    Muspelheim:
God of Darkness’ domain + Grim origin land
    Alfheim:
Vault’s dimension or Beach where RWBY+JN landed (Or possibly home of the Relic Ghosts)
    Nidavellir:
Chibiverse (This is a major stretch and highkey a joke one but why not)
Vanaheim: Vault’s dimension and/or home of the Relic Spirits (Jinn/Ambrosius and the other Relic Spirits could be like the Vanir, or they could draw from Vanaheim being the world in Norse mythology known for its gorgeous weather/greenery/sunshine, which matches with the vaults’ appearance.)
Valhalla/Hel/Nifleheim: Afterlife realm thing (the exact description in the Google doc was "CRWBY wants to see us cry; Could give us closure on Summer, Roman, Pyhrra, etc.; could confirm certain character deaths (Mainly Roman, Adam/Watts/Ironwood but I doubt it T_T)"
    Jotunheim: ???
    Surtalfheim: ???
    Other notes I had:
Pathways to the portals where RWBY+JN fell could represent the Bifrost (AKA Rainbow Bridge)
Jotunheim and Surtalfheim could be new worlds w/ new races/characters
The God of Animals (Faunus originator guy) could have a dedicated domain, most likely Alfheim or Vanaheim, but there are decent cases for both like the Relic Spirits, so one will most likely be for them and the other for the God of Animals (Ex. Ambro and Jinn being from Vanaheim, the Faunus being from Alfheim, and vice-versa)

I mean technically there's a 4th afterlife called Fólkvangr but it's more of a norse only thing because it's made by Freya a goddess of war and death but also love and Beauty and its where half of the people who die in battle go and the other half go to Valhalla so there's a chance if they go to Valhalla or Fólkvangr that we could see pyyrha there cause she died in a battle against cinder so maybe but highly likely that's not gonna happen

And I thought; how funny would it be if Paradox just popped in and offered his assistance and then just brings Ben into this whole mess. I know it's extremely dumb, but it would absolutely be the really funny kind of dumb.
So why did I comment here. Simple. In the Omniverse episode "And Then There Were None", Paradox uses a giant tree to help explain the Mulitverse Theory, Quantum Mechanics, and String Theory. And then I remembered "Hey there was a big tree at the end Volume 8." So yeah. That's where my brain went. Because of reasons not even I can fathom.

My biggest question about RWBY is how the Faunus came to be? There are stories about the Gods of Animals who seems to have created them to end a war between humans and animals? If that is the case, we never saw him or her on the show and he or she might still be around.

I'm all for meeting Pyrrha again, but I really don't think she should come back to life. Not only would it go against the gods rule about bringing back the dead, but it will also undermine and undo the meaning of her sacrifice when she fought Cinder and the encounter Jaune had at the statue in Argus. Meet her again to give Jaune and the other closure, yes. Bringing her back to life, just to appease the "fans", no. I just don't see why and how some people can't accept her death. Also, I think all of the characters have all landed on the island, but on different parts of it. Each one of them will be on different parts of the island and have different encounters with past mistakes and regrets. Jaune with Penny and Pyrrha, Blake with Adam, Yang with Raven, Weiss with her family, Neo with Roman and Ruby with Summer, or something along those lines. Each one will encounter some personal stuff that will make them stronger. Or they could meet one other character and go through the island together. Ruby and Neo, Blake and Yang, Jaune and Weiss. Ruby and Neo will call a truce until they figure out how to escape, during which time Neo will change sides. Blake and Yang will encounter each other where they talk about personal feelings and confess to each other. Jaune and Weiss will meet and Weiss will help Jaune through his trauma of killing Pyrrha where she will discover her feelings for him. Kara said that this was her favorite Volume and we know she is a huge White Knight shipper, so that could be part of the reason. I think the World Tree will be the only way they escape the island by using the Bifrost. Oh, I've missed these theory videos

I don’t think the show will bring back Pyrrha, maybe in this dimension, however not in the world of Remnant. It sucked that she died unfortunately, but the writers know that’s a bad move to make. I do hope that her and others from the past make a return. I think possibly battling with them or talking to them. This might be a more calm volume than the last two.

The only problem with Nora being from another realm is that Nora has a semblance.
To my knowledge it's been implied that semblances are a leftover of the magic people used to have. So it would be something linked to Remnant specifically.
Unless similar things (god of darkness destroying humanity) happened in other universes, which is possible.

And here I am thinking that when they fell they went straight to the summer relic in Shade Academy in Vacuo. And here they are going to summon the God of the summer relic. I thought of this coz every relic in RWBY was in some place that it wasn't from Ramnent. And I also don't think that they will be able to meet this God coz they don't know how to summon it, but when they take the relic in their hand it will lead them straight to the academy where they will be trying to save all people from Atlas and Mental and their friends from the desert.

I don’t think Nora should be revealed to be a part of some kind of Magical race. I think its better if Nora is just a human who has worked hard to become as strong as she is, rather than someone who has just inherited most of her strength. While it’s kind of cool to have Nora be a part of some special race, I feel like it would make her a weaker character.

Frankly, there being two different sets of gods can actually work, it could be that the Brothers are indeed Brothers but they are more like representations of two sides of the same coin. Cause the Asgardians are an aggressive warrior race who destroy, while the Vanir are a more peaceful warrior race who create instead of destroy (like cultivating farms instead of going out to take the food that they need from others).

What if whilst in this alterative realm, Ruby and the others will either find themselves without their aura or Semblance, or they their abilities become amplified? Ratatorskr in the rwby universe could still be a messenger but also help ferry those wishing to travel across worlds and keeping them safe from the dragon and bird

I don't really believe, that nora is from a different race.
    (Due to a few things.)
One: She has a semblance not magic. Or at least any signs of showing the latter from what I can tell.
Two: If she was from an other race. Does that any other sentient races outside of remnant have aura and semblances?
(I know, it was said all living beings have it. If I remembering correctly. But we've seen no other races besides the humans, faunus, grimm and possibly nornal fish so far. With the former two having active aura.)
Unless, they can have aura. Or nora is a specific creation from either god. (Or both of them.) Or had some sort special involvement with them, i don't see that as a possibility.
(About the gods being apart of a race.)
It's a possibility, but i am not sure.
(About the gods creating their own races outside of remnant.)
Another possibility, but then the main characters may end up world jump a time or two more. While the story and main fights are in remnant.
(About the land of the dead.)
If there is one fused, then ruby and yang should see summer. Unless the latter is somehow grimmfied. (Or just penny for ruby.)
Weiss maybe her father or grand father.
Jaime would most likely see pyrrha. If she's dead. And not involved some sort of maiden magical witchery.
Neo would probably end up seeing torchwick. If he is actually dead.
I have no clue, if blake would see someone, she cared for that died. If she did it would be part of a plot device. For vol 9 or 10.
(Depending on whether or not vol nine is strictly vacuo and oscar's group.)

This chart is inaccurate. In all the sources I could find, Svartalfheim and Nidavellir are one and the same, Dark Elves being a synonym for dwarfs
The nine realms being Midgard, Asgard, Vanaheim, Hel/Helheim, Muspel/Muspelheim, Niflheim, Alfheim/Ljosalfheim, Nidavellir/Svartalfheim, and Jotunheim
Niflheim is the primordial realm of ice, Hel is the domain of the dishonoured dead
    But
There is also a misty void between the realms, Ginnungagap, and a bonus location for the honoured dead in Vanaheim ruled by Freya, called Folkvanger
