Just about everything about BG3 is special, and the narrator feels like the glue that holds it all together. I would 100% sit down and listen to Ameila read from a phone book. With authority.
@@jasosik Sure David Attenborough and Morgan Freeman have amazing voices but Amelia has that sort of seductive, bewitching undertone that makes the Narrator's voice so special. It's a perfect fit for a story like BG3's.
"As the symbol glows, the power courses through you. **Authority**. Hands down, the best line, along with "Spasm grips your chest. Your strength falters. An emptiness grows within you, paladin. Something has been lost." Whenever you break your oath as a paladin
@@RJTheCerealGuyNo disrespect to Neil Newborn, but he's not the only one who should be getting voice acting awards. The entire cast from the biggest to the smallest parts were incredible.
Ameila Tyler. I think you might be the MVP of this game. Just watched a streamer order a goblin (with authority) to go into the shadow curse to die. You are the MVP. The entire concept of introducing a narrator like a Dungeon Master is fantastic and you did it so well.
Well, she could have and maybe could still ! She was already nailing it as the voice of Malady from Divinity Original Sin 2 (2017) , which was a pretty important NPC, and was supposed to be a main character in a DOS:2 sequel called Divinity : Fallen Heroes. The game was put on hold on October 2019 to focus on BG3's development and officially cancelled on July 2023. Sven Vincke said they'll come back to Divinity's universe but the timeline isn't really clear and of course, given the success of BG3, a lot of people are surely hoping they do more in the D&D universe, and if so she will probably (hopefully ?) stay as narrator. But she already did voice another even more important NPC and a party character in Pathfinder : Kingmaker (2018) and Pathfinder : Wrath of the Righteous (2021) respectively, and there's hope that BG3's success will rebound on these games and the CRPG genre in general. But to be fair, voice acting wise her role in BG3 is probably a considerable step-up, being the sole narrator with a considerable amount of lines so kudos !
@@Sleipniroy She was fantastic as Wenduag in Wrath of the Rightous! Honestly, in as much as BG3 is one of my favourite games of all time and surpasses Wrath of the Righteous in terms of cinematic and scope, WOTR's character depth was better at times. Wenduag's backstory and writing was as good as Viconia DeVir's - and the voice acting overall was STELLAR; the lady who voiced Areelu Vorlesh was a particular standout.
While I'd love that (romanceable NPC please), I would prefer if she continues as a narrator. She is just so perfect in that role. The right amount of sass and *authority*.
She did a fantastic job narrating the game. Coming from tabletop DnD, her narration was awesome because she made it feel like she was the Dungeon Master and I was playing a tabletop campaign organized by her. When she said that she wanted to make the player feel a certain emotion in her narration, she really nailed doing so in more scenes than just the authority ones (like Shadowheart's follow up to a certain thing that happens in Act 2). Her narration when you're playing as the Dark Urge is also top tier as you really get sadistic feelings and feelings of helplessness when you're trying to resist.
I didnt know anything about dnd lore, tabletop or dungenmasters prior BG3. But the first time I heard her voice storytelling situation my char was in I felt like game was talking with me.
Absolutely seconded on her Dark Urge narration!! She nails both the relish for violence & the powerlessness against it... I also loved how earnest she sounded during a certain nighttime sequence in Act 1. You do a thing & if you fail to cover your tracks, you go to bed covered in blood & she's like "Hopefully nobody notices". THE DRY SARCASM THERE ABSOLUTELY KILLED ME. 😂🤣 [Though not as much as I killed my victim. RIP Character]
YES absolutely. There aren't enough nerds for tabletop in my area so this is the closest I get to D&D. So for me, this makes Amelia both my GM and DM all the way through this game. Her performance enhances the experience so much. I'm used to older games where it's just text
You can hear the smile in her voice when she says "Authority". If anyone else is old enough to remember, it was the same way the narrator in GTA 2 (the last of the top down ones) used to say "Rocket Launcher" when you picked up the weapon. Some serious relish, with a hint of the smile that you know the voice actor has when saying it 😃
I really liked how the narrator really felt like a DM. Especially with descriptions of feelings. If i ever get the chance to DM again (i'm mainly just a player), i want to take inspiration from her.
Holy sht. She is one of the best narrators one could get for a rpg! I even imagine her narrating things in my life sometimes 😂 I was reading some shadow remains close to Moonrise and damn, you can feel the weight of their stories.
She was soooo fantastic! She brought the game to life in so many different ways. Her narrations if even tiny things made the world feel alive. I hope I can replicate her spark in my DnD games one day.
Her voice acting sold it for me. The story, the writing, the characters, the mo cap, the amount of dialogue in the game in general, and her narration was amazing. I could never finish divinity 2 in part because I don't like turn based games and I read too much already at work...so I felt I was reading more. For BG3, having voiced lines and so many cutscenes made such a different for me. Her narration was awesome. I think she played a character in divinity 2 as well. I liked her. Malady?? I think
After 160 hours in the game, hearing her I couldnt get off feeling that she is describing somenthing that happening in the game during just normal conversation😁
Me too, and it's cool you say that because Claudia played a major Dragon Age: Origins character, Morrigan, another game that has a LOT in common with D&D.
My favorite line was from ea they actually deleted the initial tadpole crush scene. It was how can you hurt something so beautiful so pure it is too precious too sweet isn’t it. The delivery was so good.
maybe in Divinity Original Sin 3 if it comes up :) She voiced Malady from DoS 2 :) So why not make her romanceable character in LArian's next DoS game :)

It's a matchup between Shadowheart and narrator
I dunno Karlach was insanely good as well.
The entire cast deserves an award. Astarion gale shadoheart narrator gortash ketheric Orin. You could legit give it to everyone and I wouldn’t mind
@SahilP2648 As good as they all are, Amelia is my GM for this campaign and guides me every step of the way. Can't go past her.

Exactly! I absolutely love having a dungeon master like her by my side through the entirety of the game. It's made so well.
My personal favourite with the Authorita is to make the cheeky goblin rub Worg shite in his own face after he suggested it to me... 😁
She put her finger right on why the “authority” lines feel so good. It was the explanation I didn’t know I needed.
I like random “HAHAHAHAHAHAHA” and breaking 5’th wall in Dark Urge walkthrough 😂
She's so great. I really hope Larian asks her to voice a full companion in the next game.

Not to mention the sheer amount of lines she must have had to record!! Yet absolutely killed it with all of em

Love the outtakes she's posted. Great narrator ^^
what's crazy is when i hear the authority line... I do feel good. Amelia's totally right, it's like when a cat curls up on your lap.
After sepnding 120h with BG3 (one of the best games ever!) - I want Amelia to narrate everything irl as well

Hearing her say "authority" it always makes me choose the chaotic route.
The full cast just seem like the folks you want to have a beer with and chat about nonsense.
Then play some fuckin' D&D.
I find myself doing the things I clearly shouldn't trying to trigger the narrator chastisement lines. There are some hilarious ones.
Authority gives me chills. My tadpole brain is indeed squirming 😂
Her voice is really satisfying and ASMR, I can listen to her for hours 😂
I ALWAYS get "RESPECT MY AUTHORITAAH" in my head when I hear one of the authority lines.
Amelia Tyler is the real legend of BG3.
I loved her explanation of the feeling she tried to imbue in the "authority" line, she gets it

Dan Allen... you lucky dawg... how'd you do it? Every voice-over-actor, one after the other... you lucky dawg!!!
If only all DMs had such good narration voices
The dark urge narration went all out on "you should enjoy thissss. You dooo enjoy thissss! 😈"
