Great job 🎉 I use 422b all the time as a drop in... 👍 true r22 is like liquid gold and around 1100$ a jug for us.. right now..

It's a rare sighting if I find 422b at a supply house right now. I'm mainly finding MO99 or 421a

422b has been my go to since like 2016

@MoonRambo702 my boss loves it and I don't think it's too far off from R22

$1100 is good considering in MD r22 is $1800-$2000 a jug smh

Congrats on 2k. Looks like there was a pressure issue even with the drop in. Evap coil not loaded. Could be air flow or blocked up somewhere in the refrig circuit. Good vid.

I caught that as I was removing my probes from the indoor duct. I think the airflow problem is from the super thick 1in filter she has in the ceiling but she insists on having it

We out here fixing dinosaur units I got that 54 year old unit to run today. That thing had so many destroyed wires it was crazy and capacitors. I had to try and wire it up a few different ways until I found the right configuration.

Ayyyee there ya go. I always find more burnt wires on the old equipment

If you were trying to do a permanent fix you would not use 421a mixed in with R22 but since you are just trying to get her going for a few months or so this will work. It is hard on the compressor and difficult to calculate superheat. Just so you know this is literally illegal because you are creating a new refrigerant that is not approved by the epa. I wouldn’t post a video about it. The fine is pretty hefty.

I’ve looked multiple times for an epa regulation on mixing or topping off units with mo99 and have not been able to. Could you point me in the right direction

R427A has almost identical pressures as R22 and is cheaper. I paid $63 a pound and added Nu-Calgon Ultimate seal 7.5 ton. 2 years later still beer can cold.

Ability refrigerants sells 22 for less than $30 per pound. That must be a bad leak. Bad leaks are the easiest to find ...

I wish I had a dollar for every little old lady I helped out. When I first started I would fix everything I worked on. This came back to bite me because they would blame me for letting them waste money on an old system when the call comes back in a month plus this gives them time to shop your price with other companies. You already added gas and a sealer earlier this year. Time to change that unit. You have a good heart but use it wisely.

She knows the systems age, I just presented the solutions to her and if it wasn't for her going through these surgeries this week and in another 2 weeks I think she would've done a changeout. I didn't record that conversation but she asked how long it would last I said not as long as it did back in april
