Hi may I know for simple cake baking, should I use bottom heat only or top/bottom heat and which rack level made the cake more even in terms of browning. I realised when I used bottom heat only, the top of the cake is not brown (very pale) compare to the side and bottom. Kindly advise.. Thanks.
Hi There, thank you for watching! I’ve faced a similar issue with this oven as well. Normally, I use the bottom rack as I’ve found the middle and top racks tend to brown very fast even before the cake is cooked all the way. I set my cakes on the bottom rack with top and bottom heating. If my top is browning too fast, I switch off the top and use bottom only heating mid-baking. Hope this helps. Feel free to clarify any other issues you may have. Thank you so much!
Hi Vivian, thanks for watching! I’m glad you found this review helpful and thank you so much for your wonderful compliment! It’s comments like yours that keep us going, thank you very much!
Hey there, I got this oven on sale for like 40 USD, just the oven & some utensils. I have a question & a request. Convection Vs non-convection, does it make a difference when baking a cake ? Please share a screenshot of the user manual if possible in your next review Thank you
Hi Aathif, thanks for watching! Convection will bake the cake a lot faster because of the higher heat that spreads in the oven, it will also cook your cake more evenly. I suggest you can lower the temperature of the oven and duration of baking to achieve great results! Non convection is what most recipes will ask to use unless otherwise specified. Hope this clarifies. Thank you for your feedback, if you want a screenshot of the manual please dm us on Instagram @bakingsodakitchen. If you like watching our videos, please subscribe to our channel, it helps us out a lot! Thank you so much Aathif, have a great day! ☺️
Sounds like a you did a great review of this oven. I came over to check out your channel because Stacey's Country Cooking gave you a shoutout on her last video. Thanks for sharing this information.
Hi .. can let me know for baking cake or chiffon cake which function should we used? Top/Bottom Heating?? or Top/Bottom heating + convection? Thanks :)
Hi Sara, chiffon cakes are pretty delicate and should be cooked perfectly. I would recommend using Top/Bottom Heating to avoid any burnt cakes. Convection makes the oven a lot hotter and cooks the food much faster which also results in the food being burnt. Hope this helps!
Hi! Have you tried baking using 2 trays? Wondering if I need to swap and rotate the trays along the way or the oven is good enough to bake items on both trays evenly hmmm
Hihi, suggest you to swap out the trays mid-baking. The tray at the bottom won’t cook as fast as the one directly below the heating coil. Hope this helps :)
Hi There, thanks for watching! I’ve heard many people describing the same issue you’re facing. Personally, I haven’t faced this issue but some others are saying that their actual temperature is much lower than the temperature they had set. If you’re facing this issue, I suggest bringing the item down to Mayer Service Centre. They will either give you a replacement or have it repaired, there isn’t any way to fix it ourselves. Hope this clarifies and hope you’re baked goods turn out well! Thank you so much!
Very nice review! “The inner light does not stay on while baking”, I am a little bit concerned on this, as it will be difficult to observe the color and status of the cake if too dark inside oven. May I know whether you face this issue while baking ?
Hey Ivan! Thanks for watching! The inner light does not turn on throughout the entire baking duration. However, you may press pause baking and the inner light will turn on for 30-45 seconds for you to check. Since this is a function, I haven’t really faced much issues with the inner light not staying on. Hope this helps, thank you!
Hi, I just board this oven too. But having problem baking chocolate chip cookies.. wat function Sud I choose and which temperature is suitable and bake for how long.
Hihi, so sorry to hear that. For chocolate chip cookies, I recommend using top & bottom heating without convection. Bake the cookies at 180C for about 8-10 minutes depending on the size of the cookie. If the cookies are golden brown and your desired texture, you may remove them from the oven even before the timer goes off. Cookies continue to cook even when they are cooling so it’s recommended to take them out of the oven 1-2 minutes ahead. Hope this helps, thank you so much!
1. Why is it that, when the timer goes off, it doesn't allow me to restart and bake a 2nd cake? And I have to start all over to preheat my oven. 2. Do I have to let the oven rest, before I can bake another cake? And it doesn't allow me to switch mode of baking, from upper heat to, upper and lower heat. it just kept beeping.
How do you reset the oven function? I accidentally turned the knob to fan-forced up-down and wanted to switch to just up-down but no matter how I turned the knob the indicator stayed at fan-forced.
Hi Waltz, thanks for watching! The sides of the oven has cooling vents where the hot air comes out of it. Even thought hot air is coming out of the vent, it’s never too hot on the sides. Hope this clarifies your query! If you like our videos, please support us by clicking on “Subscribe”. We would appreciate that so much, thank you!
Hi Reagan, thanks for watching! We’ve received a few queries with the same issue you are facing. I personally haven’t had this issue with this oven but have had others tell me about this before. Someone else faced this exact problem and had to bring their oven down to the Mayer Service Centre. They should be able to give you a replacement if your oven is still under warranty. 50C lesser is quite a huge difference, if it’s about +/- 10C, it’s still alright. Hope this clarifies, let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you very much!
Hi There! The oven light only remains turned on for 1 minute. After that, the light will turn off automatically. It’s a system built in to the oven by Mayer and cannot be adjusted. Hope this helps, thank you so much!

My temperature reading doesn't match. Set 200°C for top heat but actual temperature reading is about 50°C lesser.
