The close up on Chisaki's eye and then the slow-mo shot of how he sees Deku - as a terrifying, grinning, green monster - gets me every time. HOLY SHIT!
And lets not forget all the long hair flying out from Deku, well actually Eri's hair but it looks like Deku's at that moment, putting all the imagery together and it looks like Overhaul's about to be taken out by an angry god.
Notice Midoriya didn’t even yell “SMASH!” At the end. He was out for Chisaki’s blood and rightfully so I remember it was 5 am and I woke up to watch this ep, and i had my retainers still and I yelled “OH SHHLIT!!💦”😂

Deku the true Madlad~ To explain how Eri's quirk works since it can be a bit difficult to understand the specifics: Eri's quirk "Rewind" lets her revert a body to an earlier state. With Deku, once he broke his legs, she rewound his body to the point before it was broken. But right now she can't control it, meaning it won't STOP rewinding. Deku had to continuously break his bones so that only those were rewound and not his healthy body. As for her father: Apparently her quirk kicked in, and she reverted his body to the point he was a fetus too small to see or an un-fertilized egg.
Basically rewind her dad into nothing before he was born. This why I love the being you get all of her backstory until that terrible day she killed her father.
Night Eye was still conscious and talking because gut wounds, even if they kill you, tend to be slow to do so and the rock is likely blocking any bleeding.
S5 would have been taken a lot better if they hadnt played with the plot structure so much to have that boom of a season finale they've gotten to used to having.
When Deku tells Eri that her power is a blessing I always get a little misty eyed. Eri’s whole life she’s been told she’s nothing but a curse, and then to have someone say, “no, you are a blessing.” It just gets me right in the feels.
When Deku finishes his first powered up kick at 11:50 , you mentioned that he doesn't even know how to control his movement. Deku kicks the air at that moment to actually stop his momentum. It's how he's able to stay "flying". He's using kicks to create air pressure in the same way that All Might was able to do the same with his punches. Just a fun little detail in case you missed it.
Fun fact: the future was undone from rewind. Deku literally would’ve died as a guarantee. She can change those set in stone futures…BUT it is up to those she rewinds to have the will to overcome a self fulfilling prophecy. Deku ABSOLUTELY did. Deku has nigh unlimited willpower. It’s what makes this team up perfect
@@levypoulter I never think All-Might even lost OFA. He continues to transform even now. His body is just so injured he can’t sustain its use. Which Eri could absolutely rewind to a sustainable body shape. That being said I still believe All-Might will die. I don’t think he has the will to truly overcome his future. Namely because if All-Might retains OFA, that means the transfer from him to Deku is incomplete. And if that’s the case in order for Deku to truly restore the prime of OFA and surpass All-Might, All-Might will have to die. That’s my belief.
That's not a fact. Her quirk has nothing to do with time. She rewinds physical states of people, but time continues on normally. Night eye's quirk can see the future, which is a time based power. Anything that doesn't change the flow of time will not affect his power.

And OFA is not so strong it breaks the rules of reality. Nighteye sets in stone a future he sees. But Eri can undo that if she is in proximity of someone WITH that set in stone future. It effects no other predictions.
Eri's quirk is sorta like reverse time travel. You're not going through time, time is going through you. She can rewind you to the you you used to be 5 minutes before you broke your arm, or she can just rewind you out of existance like she did to her dad. And Chisaki managed to use her quirk in a way that it rewinds people to where they didn't have quirks.

This.... Yeah this might be the best episode of the anime up till now. The saving Eri with beautiful music playing, the bad-ass mass of fists attack, Deku finally saving someone with a smile. It's the culmination of the entire series
i think it's not the power of will that changed the futur, it would be too easy, it was eri's power, she have a rule breaker quirk, rewind can rewind anything, if you can rewind the future, it's like it already happen, so you can rewrite a new one
This is a quote but changing the names. “Overhaul wasn’t losing a fight. A fight implies both sides are fairly even. He was being beaten to a bloody pulp.” That came to mind after rewatching the episode.
That smile at the end was Nighteye being put at peace with his quirk. He finally knows that he is not changing the future, nor is is 100% the accurate outcome.

I have to agree with you. One of the problems I have with watching shounen anime as an adult is that sometimes it doesn't feel like the stakes are high enough. Deaths get ret conned as being just bad accidents and people survive when they shouldn't be able too. It makes it feel like there's not really anything to be concerned about.
I still think the best part of the episode was the use of noise. When deku punches chisaki and that loud explosive noise goes off like an explosion/bomb, its like you can FEEL how hard he fucking hit him. Hes pulled his punches so many times, but this one time, he didnt in the slightest and made sure he wouldnt get back up. An I love how this is his CURRENT 100%, and all the manga readers should know what I mean by saying "this is nothing for whats to come"

Still that has nothing to do with how or why this combo works. Eri's started rewinding Deku's body, which seems to start with his injuries, but would make him younger if it fixed him. One For All kept damaging his body as fast as Eri could rebuild it, so it wasn't able to make him younger. However this is extremely risky, as it only works because the two quirks are keeping pace with each other. If one over takes the other Deku is screwed.
Backbag-Eri is essentially an infinite rewind button. Deku would've died countless times here, both from Chisaki and his own quirk, but Eri kept winding his body back time and time again, back before his death, so that changing the future eventually became possible. As I see it, changing the future Nighteye sees is possible, but very hard and most likely requires more tries of trial and error than you have in a normal situation, especially since you don't have a way to know if something you did changed the future or not before it comes.

Interesting that I haven’t seen anyone theorizing about this, but I don’t think Deku did anything at all to change the future. I think it was all Eri. After all, the one flaw of Nighteye’s foresight is the lack of hindsight. He can perfectly predict the future right up until Eri uses her quirk, and then his inability to perceive the outcome of her quirk’s usage due to not being able to see the past invalidates all of his predictions via the butterfly effect.
Take into account, Deku changed THIS part of the future which Nighteye Foursought, it wasn’t related to Allmight at all so we don’t know if he’s safe or not! Now anything can happen

Interesting that I haven’t seen anyone theorizing about this, but I don’t think Deku did anything at all to change the future. I think it was all Eri. After all, the one flaw of Nighteye’s foresight is the lack of hindsight. He can perfectly predict the future right up until Eri uses her quirk, and then his inability to perceive the outcome of her quirk’s usage due to not being able to see the past invalidates all of his predictions via the butterfly effect.

Deku changing his future in this fight does NOT mean All Might isn't going to die. All it did was prove that the future could be changed.
