This July has been one year with no alcohol, and I have no plans to drink again. I feel healthier and I've lost weight. I definitely sleep better now too.

Like everyone halted their personalities as a teenager and don't grow into wisdom. Very dystopian. Thank you for this message and for the maturity!
I had a terrible hangover when I was 21 and said I'd never drink alcohol again! It's been 14 years and it's been one of the best decisions i ever made.
Same here 😅. I stared drinking between the age of 23 & 24. Had never touched alcohol before then. But one day I had a severe hangover that was that for me. Never drank alcohol since then & now I am 40
❤❤❤ 15 months no alcohol after daily for about 35 years.. Can't believe how easy it was...kept not attempting because I thought it would be to hard!! Never felt better ( or looked better) No bloat ,facial redness, puffiness... Hair and skin much better!! Great video❤❤❤
My congratulations!❤ please, share how you manage to do it? Because I fail giving up drinking wine (especially in hot spring and summer days). Thank you in advance!🤗
@@НатальяБунакова-б5с i used to drink more for the effect than the taste. If this is the reason we drink then we know we have a problem. There’s nothing wrong with having a little glass of wine if you enjoy it but if you can’t stop at one glass that’s when maybe there is a problem. The only way to stop is to stop! No alcohol in the house & tell your friends that you’ve stopped drinking so they don’t encourage you. Find a nice, fresh alternative to sip out of a wine glass perhaps 🧉
Yes, have stopped drinking altogether after being a heavy drinker for (a long time)! My liver is damaged but no alcohol & i’m feeling the best i’ve felt for years. Sleeping properly, much less anxious & the depressive moods have lifted. People have even commented on how good i look! So there you have it! ☕️
I stoppede drinking alcohol 10 years ago , i felt so ill from just one glass of wine . I never missed it ! Sadly society thinks of me as boring and weird now , but i really dont care , because Im 51 and i love myself ❤ Cheers to self love !
Being post menopausal I knew that I needed to give up my bedtime glass of wine, and it took me a long time to finally do it. But I'm finally losing my belly fat now!! That, and giving up sugar. Thank you for the inspiration Gail! ❤
Thank you for your honest advice. I know I need to stop drinking so much. I love wine, and the occasional cocktail. But I am getting older, and really need to gift myself with better self care in this area. ❤
I drank only on special family occasions after I turned 40, until my husband died, suddenly. I know I was trying to recreate our family special times. I'd invite them all each week and drink a bottle of wine. Then, twice a week. Expensive but we were together. Then, half of them 4 times a week followed by 10 years of drinking home alone when my kids moved away. I have reduced gradually to less alcohol content and only 200 mls each night. I appreciate your video and the many conmments. I realise alcohol affects every cell in my body. It's pure poison. I'm intentional about becoming free and healthy again. ❤
So, so, so, so true. I gave it up in late 2019 -- yep, right before the lockdowns and have not once regretted it. IMMEDIATELY felt better. My sister-in-law said it best, "I felt like I was poisoning myself." No need for that! Thanks for your really wonderful videos!
Excellent reasons! I decided to do a "dry January" this year. I felt so terrific once February rolled around, I decided to quit alcohol altogether. I won't be going back! Too many gains in my life. I have lost 20 pounds and I exercise 7 days a week now. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
I had a similar experience with suger and alcohol. I stopped suger and reduced nightly glasses of wine 5yrs ago and suddenly felt amazing. No inflammation, no irregular heart beats, no mood swings. Thank you for baring your soul and being so brave. 🌸🕊️🙏🏻🕊️🌸❤️Australia 🌏
Thanks for sharing! Great tips. I’ve started to reduce my alcohol consumption. It had gotten to a point where 2 to 3 drinks a night was the norm. At 50, I just can’t do that anymore. Not to mention the toxins, like you said. Scary! Now I’m skipping alcohol during the week and just partaking on weekends but. It really does become such a habit! Also, since finding your account, I’ve broken out my jump rope again! Intermittent fasting may be my next challenge
Amen Sister! I haven't given it up completely, I drink a glass of wine about once a month and regret it. I can see myself giving it up completely in the future. Not only do I wake up at 3am, I wake up with anxiety from the alcohol which I never normally suffer with. Not to mention the weird dreams it makes me have. I have lost most of my belly weight after cutting alcohol (and doing jump roping).
I am from Germany and l found you few days ago. I'm 54 and l love make up, as you as well. You are so beautiful, your face, your Hair, this grey looks fantastic and the clothes you present, emphasizes your type, full of Love, Energy and positive charisma
Although I was never much of a drinker, I gave it up entirely a couple of years ago, I am grateful and feel vibrant at 60...... LOVE the beautiful drink that you just created, lovely❕ Agreed. Yay to feeling sparkly and well.
Thank you for sharing this video, my boyfriend and I are trying to give up alcohol which is hard because we both love red wine. Listening to you has given me motivation. I am the same age as you and know I need to change my lifestyle. I love healthy food, but the alcohol must go. Thank you 😁💖
Just found you. Thanks for this. I'm 63 and have been feeling all you say about time to put down my pino gregio. When I do, I can feel the differences 😊
I always thought it would be hard to give up drinking altogether - I drank most evenings, and most of my social life was based around alcohol. However, after my cancer diagnosis, I have given up, pretty much completely. At first I was feeling rubbish (putting it down to menopause), and it really put me off. Then I was in hospital, and way too sick to even think about it. Now, I just don't need it. I have the odd drink, here and there, but it doesn't interest me at all. And I know people don't like it, but I will always wonder if my cancer has been brought on by the amount of alcohol I drank. I have secondary breast cancer (spread to my liver and bones, and is incurable), and my body doesn't need alcohol. Maybe the odd one, but like I said, I really don't miss it ❤
I’m sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. I have liver cirrhosis which was definitely brought on by drinking! Live each day as it comes. Live it like it was your last & find happiness in the simple things. Sometimes the small things in life bring us the most pleasure. 🌺
Very good! No benefits! 👍 Thank you for talking about unpopular subjects. Alcohol is toxic and is normalized. It should have cancer warnings on it just like cigarettes. Most people do not realize occasional consumption increases cancer cell proliferation.
I am new to your channel and can’t stop watching- so very inspirational! I love your energy and authenticity! Perhaps in the past you have explained how you grew out your beautiful silver hair and stopped coloring it- but I couldn’t find a video on it. I will be 60 in less than a month and would love to stop coloring my hair but and scared of the grow out process. Do you have any advice please? Thanks and keep up the great work inspiring all of us to just be ourselves! Now-- off to my kettlebell 😊
Such synchronisty this video as I've just turned 60 and decided my birthday gift to myself is to give up alcohol for all the reasons you have explained. Plus I noticed much more joint pain after alcohol. So a relief to give it up and have nutrient rich scrummy alternatives. 😊 P.s you look gorgeous in pink!
Good for you! I never was a regular drinker, but when I am with friends or family, I like to have a fizzy mineral water (Topo Chico or Gerolsteiner) along with lemons or limes and lots of ice. The strawberry ice cubes would be great with it too.
My body is tolerating alcohol less and less and I’m with you Gail…sleep is everything 😴 I don’t know if I’ll ever stop 100% but leave it just for holidays and special occasions. Negroni is my fav 🍹
I gave up drinking last year as it made me ill even if I'd just had a few. I actually felt poisoned! I had a glass of Prosecco at my son's wedding last month but I still had an amazing time. So much of our lives revolve around alcohol it makes you stand out as a non drinker.
I'm 61 now and stopped doing all drugs and alcohol when I was 24. It was obvious there was an addiction problem and family history galore. I'm so happy I don't rely on these things to bring happiness or stress relief and I love my life. It's crazy that people always ask why you don't drink, no one asks why don't you use cocaine or any other drug. It's so socially acceptable it's not very acceptable not to do it. I totally agree to ALL you said. I have always been thin and never had to worry about my weight. At first I thought it was because I wasn’t working (I’m a physical therapist so my job was very active) but then I realized it was doe to drinking wine. Hello there beautiful lady❤ Very inspirational...your stunnning. I just found you about a half hour ago and cant stop watching and already subscribed...have two pages written in my note book about you and and where and how to find you and about your pod cast and book and fasting and exercises.. I will definitely be following along. Id like to tell someone and you seem like the perfect person to tell..on Thursday September 26 2024,couple days ago was my 13...yes 13 year anniversary of Sobriety, I quit drinking in support of my Husband and honestly if i had of known it was that easy i would have did it years ago.,the only thing i miss is dancing and my brave bold self.. I also quit smoking back in 2014 to support my Husband..again great decision on my part he had said, oh if I have to quit you're going to have to maybe smoke outside or something not around me, I said I'll do you one better I'll quit and I had already been quit for 4 days because he was in the hospital and I wouldn't leave his side for a single second so in the hospital nobody smoking nobody smoking on TV so it seemed like quitting was real easy for me, to then when I left the hospital and I went to get into my truck, it smelled like about 50 billion soaking wet nasty ashtrays and that was the end of that, needless to say the fact that I did it in support for him he has since gone back to both I wish Hap the best in his healing Journey ❤❤❤ And congratulations to you pretty lady ❤❤ Blessings
Congratulations on 13 years! I’d like to encourage you to dance sober. 😊 Most of the people around you will be drinking, so they won’t even notice how good or bad your dancing is!
Thank you for this. I’m really struggling with this. It’s really hard as my husband drinks every night and socializing is tough when out with friends. I always feel better when I don’t! I keep telling myself that I’ve had my share of booze and it’s not good for me. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Stopped at 30. I’m 60 now. Best decision of my life. I’ve only seen alcohol destroy lives and watch people make utter fools of themselves. I didn’t want to be part of that.
My sister in law shared your channel with me and I love it!! I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping you’ll share more of these lovely mocktail suggestions. Thank you for the positive message you share in each of your videos 💜
There is a time for everything.... to enjoy a drink or two and for others who need more... and a time to give it up for good. I am 4 months in, and my weight is down, cravings gone and I have full control on my food choices. I struggle with 'social cravings" from time to time... feeling angry because I made this choice, but also celebrate what I am wining and look for other ways to enjoy drinks like Sparklinh water with flavored bitters. Yes, I know it is alcohol based, but 3 to 4 drops infusing my water definitely does not have the same affect as an actual drink. I l❤ve Brut Sparkling Wine and will enjoy a glass on my B Day later this year... but If I change my mind, all the better 🎉 Thank you for talking about this rather "sensitive" topic.
I very rarely drink alcohol. Maybe one or two shandies a year. I don’t understand why so many people drink alcohol regularly. I know it’s an individual thing but I just couldn’t be bothered to deal with a hangover at 51 I can’t stand being ill as it is let alone self inflicted ill!
I don’t drink alcohol, but still have a lot of difficulty sleeping. Could you please to a video on ANY tips on getting sleep. (56yo female/60kg). You’re gorgeous!!
Used to like gin and tonics a long time ago. Now a bottle of California Cabernet lasts about 6 weeks. But I get what you're saying. Thanks for the advice.
While I was drinking less than you, Gail, I was drinking more than I was honestly comfortable with. At the same time, I never thought it would be something I would quit completely. However, around my 59th birthday in August last year, I suddenly felt I was so over drinking and just quit from one day to the next. The idea was to just stop until I felt like starting again but, almost a year later, I've only had a glass of wine at two concerts and a little bit of sparkly on New Year's Eve. I'm still shocked it was so easy, because I'm NEVER going back!
I came back from a retreat in 2014 or so and just decided, its time to stop drinking. It hadn't been a problem actually, but it just fell away. I've not only never regretted that decision, but it's such a feeling of quiet pride and self respect for myself.
I also live in the Algarve, 7 years now. Drinking is rife. Some people probably think I'm boring but i dont care any more, they are addicted and im aure secretly jealous. I've never been a big drinker, but lots of people are. Thank you for this video. 😊 I'm 60 next year and want to look after my health as much as possible. You are inspirational. I also do IF, love it. Xx
Happy Mother's Day!Thanks for great information. Another reason you could add: vertigo. They found a correlation between even just one drink a few days ago and vertigo from the crystals in your ear getting dislodged. The Epley Technique works for me, but since stopping alcohol, no need.
I thoroughly enjoyed that video! You are a great conversationalist, very wise, very beautiful. I would love to see more conversation-type videos like this on any subject from you. Oh! Great voice, too ❤
Thanks for posting this video, your presentations are always informative and uplifting. Is it possible to list the recipe you use to curate your cubes? Thanks you from Chicago
A rather blanket statement. don't you think? lol. Magnesium Glycinate does nothing for my sleep, and it's the same for many others. It all depends on why you're not sleeping.
I was never a big drinker so it was easy to give it up for good. Your drinks, the plant milk, matcha and mint! Oh my! The milk, cacao, banana drink! Oh mercy! Thank you for those. I will make this fruit drink when it gets a little warmer. More please if you can! You are such an inspiration to me, you have no idea!
I gave up grog and life is actually way better without it. Like Gail said you sleep much better. And you don’t have the grumpy feelings next day. And reduced anxiety. It’s pretty easy to do if your people are on board. If you have friends that wouldn’t be cool with you if you don’t drink, might be time to spend less time with them, and more time with your Mum (or whoever misses their sober child). Best of luck. ❤
Love your wonderful advice. I do not drink alcohol, but I do want to drink green tea. Please tell me what kind of green tea you prefer. Keep sending the wonderful tidbits!❤
I haven’t touched alcohol since October 2020. I set my mind to it, I thought I was drinking too much which was every single day, Vino with my poison. I drank everything throughout my 59 years, started with beers and cocktails ended up with loving wine. Never again, kudos to you and everyone else on the journey.😎 I always thought of quitting, it just bothered me so much. Then my husband had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and before he was released home from the hospital, I decided that was it I quit and obviously he never touched alcohol again either. We are also ex smokers, we quit in 2012.
As I am in a wine tasting business, I can't totally agree. I do agree though that the temptation to drink too often and too much in order to numb or "solve" a problem, is inherent in most of us. Personally, I see wine making as a cultural heritage, yet unfortunately most wines that we buy in supermarkets have nothing more to offer than bitterness, over-the-top tannins and alcohol. Well, I could go on and on... Bottom line: It takes quite some intelligence, experience and discipline to make tasting high-quality wine a joyful and enriching experience.

I just thought I would comment and say I really appreciate seeing a mature person on the Internet for a change. It's making me sad as a young person that most of the older folks on TH-cam and TikTok keep trying to act and look young. It has been disappointing. I ask myself, "Where are all the grown ups?" Like everyone halted their personalities as a teenager and don't grow into wisdom. Very dystopian. Thank you for this message and for the maturity!

I also quit smoking back in 2014 to support my Husband..again great decision on my part he had said, oh if I have to quit you're going to have to maybe smoke outside or something not around me, I said I'll do you one better I'll quit and I had already been quit for 4 days because he was in the hospital and I wouldn't leave his side for a single second so in the hospital nobody smoking nobody smoking on TV so it seemed like quitting was real easy for me, to then when I left the hospital and I went to get into my truck, it smelled like about 50 billion soaking wet nasty ashtrays and that was the end of that, needless to say the fact that I did it in support for him he has since gone back to both I wish Hap the best in his healing Journey ❤❤❤
And congratulations to you pretty lady ❤❤
Blessings
Congratulations on 13 years! I’d like to encourage you to dance sober. 😊 Most of the people around you will be drinking, so they won’t even notice how good or bad your dancing is!
Thank you for this. I’m really struggling with this. It’s really hard as my husband drinks every night and socializing is tough when out with friends. I always feel better when I don’t! I keep telling myself that I’ve had my share of booze and it’s not good for me.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
I could listen to you all day!! Hello from Australia 🇦🇺
Great video,, I have not had a sip for 16months. Your point is correct, no benefits from drinking alcohol.
Stopped at 30. I’m 60 now. Best decision of my life. I’ve only seen alcohol destroy lives and watch people make utter fools of themselves. I didn’t want to be part of that.
Interesting Beautiful video as always my friend good work nice shots😊🌴🇮🇹👍🏻
Thank you so much. I am doing this now. With gratitude.
My sister in law shared your channel with me and I love it!! I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping you’ll share more of these lovely mocktail suggestions. Thank you for the positive message you share in each of your videos 💜
I just came across your short video and came to your channel. You are unrecognisable. I feel so inspired. ❤
It’s very addictive and people use it to numb out their emotions.
THNK YOU GREAT ADVICE❤
I never started. Glad you stopped🩷
I don’t drink alcohol, but still have a lot of difficulty sleeping. Could you please to a video on ANY tips on getting sleep. (56yo female/60kg). You’re gorgeous!!
I will. Thank you.
Used to like gin and tonics a long time ago. Now a bottle of California Cabernet lasts about 6 weeks. But I get what you're saying. Thanks for the advice.
Happy Mother's Day to you! Thanks for the energy and advice
Great topic and relevant information. Thank you!
I came back from a retreat in 2014 or so and just decided, its time to stop drinking. It hadn't been a problem actually, but it just fell away. I've not only never regretted that decision, but it's such a feeling of quiet pride and self respect for myself.
Haha "im an all day person." I love that. I want to be right there with you. Cheers!!
Beautiful video!! I'm currently on Day 141 alcohol-free and 18 months plant-based! Best decisions ever!!
Xx
Hello Gail. Could you please do a video on the clean skincare and makeup and what brands you use? This looks delicious will try it.
You are such an inspiration! I wish I was your friend and lived next door.
Happy Mother's Day!Thanks for great information. Another reason you could add: vertigo. They found a correlation between even just one drink a few days ago and vertigo from the crystals in your ear getting dislodged. The Epley Technique works for me, but since stopping alcohol, no need.
Thank you for this video!
Great video, thank you! 💘
I thoroughly enjoyed that video! You are a great conversationalist, very wise, very beautiful. I would love to see more conversation-type videos like this on any subject from you. Oh! Great voice, too ❤

I adore you. Thank you
Thanks for posting this video, your presentations are always informative and uplifting. Is it possible to list the recipe you use to curate your cubes? Thanks you from Chicago
Good advice 🎉
Amen. Great video x
What was in the pitcher that you poured into the glass of fruit? Looks yummy.
Magnesium glycine at night and you'll sleep like a baby. Works wonderfully.
I've been reading up on this and am going to try...Do you use spray or oral supplement?
Yes, I use magnesium oil spray too plus 10 MG of zinc.
magnesium flake bath is effective too 🙏🏻
I think you meant magnesium glycinate.
A rather blanket statement. don't you think? lol. Magnesium Glycinate does nothing for my sleep, and it's the same for many others. It all depends on why you're not sleeping.
🌻🦋💞thank you💝👍you are a beautiful Lady 🌹💐 this IS so right what you say about alcohol
Love your perspective! You’ll also know if you really like someone without alcohol 💁🏼♀️
Love this video ❤ Thank You lovely lady, blessings😊
If love to quit drinking, I find it so hard I do enjoy my wine and vodka soda, I know I need to stop
Love your wonderful advice. I do not drink alcohol, but I do want to drink green tea. Please tell me what kind of green tea you prefer. Keep sending the wonderful tidbits!❤

You are such an inspiration !!!! ❤️🫶🏽❤️
I love how that color of blouse looks and you and love the lip color can you make a makeup video so I will know where to buy the lipstick. Thank you
I haven’t touched alcohol since October 2020. I set my mind to it, I thought I was drinking too much which was every single day, Vino with my poison. I drank everything throughout my 59 years, started with beers and cocktails ended up with loving wine. Never again, kudos to you and everyone else on the journey.😎
I always thought of quitting, it just bothered me so much.
