- In this video I make another 3D transparent fishing lure and improve the design of my glass shad lure with amazing results.

OOPS! I absentmindedly referred to material I used as both Lexan and Plexiglass (sorry) and I should have cleared it up in the video (sorry again).The truth is I bought the material at a recycle center (someone had just dropped off several small new sheets) so I can't be certain if it's Plexiglass (acrylic) or Lexan (polycarbonate). But, it cuts and drills like Lexan, not as brittle not as hard as Plexiglass. Oh, and I know this is a bit weird but, it smells like polycarbonate when you cut and drill it. My best guess; Lexan.

Even though is clear that you didn't like the aesthetic of the lure, for what I can see in the video this one is a winner performance wise, swings well and jerks fine, also sinks enough for those 5' to 10' areas if necessary, definitely one of my favorites so far. Great job Ingeniero!!!

Big fan of these last two lures. As someone else said below, try some holographic foil in the centre.
Love the action and flash. I’d be tempted to try a version with holographic foil between the center layers

That has nice fall action, probably need a joint for better swim action but really nice work as always. Catching fish on your own crafted lure is something special and no matter what comments you get, you know you're on to something!

Make a mold for two halves. And mold with uv resin. Glue the halves together using uv again.

Looks good, shame about losing last week's build as it caught well. The air pocket slows the sink rate as you say in your blog. If a larger air pocket was made in the lure would it slow the sink rate even more or have no affect. Think it would look good in silver. Final if I carefully, with the drimmell, and made the mouth and gill plates stand out would it unbalance the lure. Many thanks as always, look forward to Friday's and your videos. Really enjoyed the fishing part last week so would you consider, every now and again take us fishing with you. Glad to see I'm not the only one who catches stuff when fishing.
Yes, a larger air pocket will slow the sink rate more. Any engraved details will dissappear when you glue the pieces together. Thanks for the questions.
Maybe just shade the gills to get rid of the flatting effect you mention. It would give it more detail even, amazing work Franco..!!

That underwater shot was so nice to watch, i love the shimmer effect you got. The air pocket is a good approach to builds with high specific weight materials.
What would happen if you put weight at the botton of the lure in addition to the air pocket at the top? Maybe increasing the air pocket volume to keep roughly the same density. Would it worsen the lure swim action?

Looks like a winner, maybe an opportunity to toss a couple bb into the top for an added rattle if you ever wanted to go further with the idea!

Dude you're killing me over here. I don't own a band saw or scroll saw or a sander or an airbrush. It's tough enough cutting and shaping 2mm sheet acrylic for my bibs. I know I should just forget about this lure but who am I fooling. This one is definitely going to test my creativity. TFT
It can all be done with hand tools and lots of patience...go for it.

I'm not sure if you have the glass minnow down there in Florida that we have here, but if you do, this lure is super close to the look of it! So if you do actually have the glass minnow down there, do you think you can try to replicate it in one of these clear body style lures? Perhaps more streamlined than what you just did? I'm sure the paint job of getting the "look" of a glass minnow will be tough, but I think you could pull it off!

Very cool. The technique should work on a laminated wood lure too. The 3D effect would be lost, but the action may be interesting. Nice t(h)ree pounder there at the end. The outages are just as much fun as the videos. Thanks.

I believe if you use a propane torch and gently heat the sanded area’s it will make the plastic clear up🤙🤙🤙
A clear coat is easier....and safer.

The foam would just add weight and block the light.

In the last build you mentioned using Plexiglass, then referred to it as Lexan. These are very different products and I found out the hard way... lost a few lips. This video has in its title "Plexiglass", but I didn't hear any reference to either. Would you mind telling me which material you used to make these lures? If you used Plexiglass and it works well, it would be a perfect opportunity to use what I have laying around. I have both, if it even matters, if I decide to give this a go. Thanks so much! I also have Ghost Tint paints and transparent paints, so this is very doable.

I was thinking with all the resin, that one might still be able to use Plexiglass because it would help reinforce it, but polycarbonate is always a better choice. I had some acrylic given to me early on in my lure making days and was told specifically that it was poly, much to my dismay. Thanks so much for the clarification!
Lexan is much harder than plexi glass

Just a minor suggestion, if “I may”. First, I didn’t come up with this idea.
Using a very shiny aluminum plate, inside the body that’s bit tight on the bottom of the plate and very loose on top. The plate flipping side to side, using available light reflecting off the aluminum plate. Flicking look making lure to look alive.
Now, if I messed up in my description, let know. I will do my best to clarify. I own two bass lures, with this idea from China. Like, they do with Americans. Why reinvent the wheel! Just COPY, most of all enjoy.

Yes I have seen that used. I am experimenting with a fluid filled chamber with suspended metal flecks, should look amazing.

Huh, interesting. I have only ever used 1D and 2D lures. Hmmm wonder if ill start catching 3 dimensional fish now these 2 dimensional fish don't fill the stomach that much
