Even his little gadget was off by 4 lbs compared to his other measurement. What the hell is going on around here?

The mezzo looks great , when I looked them up the shipping was almost as much as the bow to get them to the states lol

I swapped a Remington 12 ga. Pump shotgun for a Bear super magnum 48 in 1967 my first bow for hunting shot a doe with it first bow kill a friend of mine drew it back and the top limb broke and hit him in the head I still laugh about that to this day lol bought another later but had to sell it because of health reasons mine was the original 45 lb one. Thanks for the memories.

For those who don't know and are looking at the review 48 inch AMO is 48 inches long. I can't use a bow of this length as it is so deep of brace height that does not work for me, otherwise for my size I would have got this bow. The bow I did get last year was a Copy of a Bear Grizzly/Super Grizzly made down to 54 inches in every part (except the 3/4 sized brace height) by a company only selling in USA on Amazon the, OEELINE Airobow single piece recurve at 54 inches.

Yep I just bought one this morning can't wait I bought it to hunt out of my hangon stands longer bows I'm having issues shooting inside of 12/15 yards granted my stands are 25-28feet to bottom of stand creats a severe angle at close ranges hoping the smaller bow helps

Good review, but please note that Fred Bear did not design this bow.
Bill Stewart did, the Bear Bowyer, at the urging of Dick Mauch, who also worked for Bear as a salesman. Prototypes were built in 1965 (and tested on big game in Africa the same year), first offered for sale in early 1966 and advertised in the 67.5 catalog.

You are correct the bow was being designed under the urging of Mr. Bear. Fred Bear approached Mr. Stewart and asked if it could be done as every other bow company said it could not and Mr Bear thought the bow would be perfect size of 48 inches for stalking or hunting out of a ground blind. They originally designed the bow as a 46 inch but could not solve the problem of finger pinch with draws of 29 inch or longer. This is what Bear Archery told me during my work up for the review
      Thanks for watching

I don't doubt that Bear Archery told you that, however it wasn't Fred Bear's idea or design. I say this as I heard it straight from Mr. Mauch himself a few years ago, who tested the Supermag prototypes out on Cape Buffalo during an African hunt with Fred Bear in 1965. Wicked cool bow.

Thar is really a beautiful bow, just too pricey for me. I actually just ordered the ASDW Camo 56" Recurve you did a review on a little while back. Ordered it last night, should be here by Friday.
Good luck with your new bow & God bless!

The ASDW bow is a really nice bow for the money and I am sure you will like it.
Take care my friend and goodluck with the new bow.

I imagine if the brace height was at 8” you would be closer to the posted weight. Maybe drop a few twists in string if you wanna touch down the weight a bit

Going to stack 2-3 lbs per inch over 28”

The new Super Mags aren't worth a SHIT! Mine was marked 50# and actual draw weight was 63# at 28". These bows are nowhere near the quality of the old Super Mags. Mine blew up in under two months! In my opinion when Fred Bear died, so did Bear Archery.
