Often thought that, as with Man About The House begetting George & Mildred, the pairing of Percy and Alice Marsh would have been worth a series of their own.
Percy's reaction looks quite genuine at the end of Part 1. I wouldn't be surprised he really did burn himself - similar to the end of the "Coke" episode when the fireplace exploded. H&S would've been non-existent in those days.
I thought the very last episode was a really good one. It didn't, however, indicate in any way that there would be no more. Just had the lads walking behind Marsh in awe of his machinations.
@@8teillumin Absolutely adore those series.. Fletch I reckon, is what Ronnie Barker would have like to have been like in real life!!! Young Lennie Gobfer was sweet too in Rising Damp with Rupert Rigsby!! :)
I was in the RN in the '70's. I later joined the RAF. It works for me in the same way Dad's Army worked for real Home Guard. You have to have been there.
Agreed - the early stories were varied and covered the different recruits and their homelife. The last series is all based on what a bastard Marsh was!
There have been some unkind comments about the fifth series being one to many and about Karl Howman not being as good as Robert Lindsay but it's far superior than the rubbish on TV today. And Karl Howman is himself a very good comedy actor who has appeared in several great shows.

Compared to today's utter shit on tv this is brilliant ❤❤❤
Well mate, it's 5 years on and today's shit is even worse . Dei bullshit
These series were the days of real humour, uplifting, laugh allowed funny, harmless and no nod to hurty feely PC rubbish.

Definitely.
I’d love that.

There was H&S when this was filmed.

Enjoyed it up to the last couple of episodes.

Hmm... the series has hit a brick wall... not just because Robert Lindsay has gone either...

I agree. And this was the last season...
Joe Turner- wow...so it was very similar 20 or so years later? Kind of depressing...

One of those great TV programs that went on one too many series.

It means he is away with the fairies and doesnt know what a situation comedy is. 'COMEDY' is the key word to the programme.
