Station NBN-Newcastle(Australia) never got beyond season two of this series. I have, at the completion of this episode, seen, for the first time, the entire series. Since the recent passing of Tony Selby, I thought I'd look up an episode or two, and ended up watching all five series! Bit of a nostalgia trip... (wonder why they set every episode in 1955, especially as one was set on Christmas Day?)
another great show that didn't get a good ending, such a shame..but the 60s and 70s were full of people in charge who just left everything hanging, i have to say thank you very much for uploading..i don't recall ever seeing this before today..and brought back all kinds of memories from my time in the RAF..thanks mate
Absolutely loved watching this. Being born in 67, i remember watching this with my dad. Tony Selby superb. His cracks against all the lads was hilarious and certainly wouldn’t be allowed in today’s times. Thanks for posting this 👌

This episode was filmed in and around our village, a place called Cemaes Bay on the isle of Anglesey, North Wales. The small island you see that the lads are meant to be on is called ' middle mouse's . The beach scenes were filmed on ' white lady beach' the next bay from Cemaes also the dinner scenes were filmed in the pub called ' The Stag'. I remember them filming the helicopter scene.
@stephen john gray I was 'found out' by a PO Reg giving my travel warrant to a mate. He had already been busted from a Chief for smuggling duty frees in Gib. I have no idea what he got caught for next but he landed up in the Junior Rates Mess and then Sick Bay. My only regret is that I couldn't bring him flowers.
Nah. That last comment by 'Poofhouse' was a very suitable wrap. Been there, seen that. I did RN & RAuxAF. I can confirm. Bunch of jessies. I only did it for my VRM. Got bugger all for the Cold War. It was a laugh though.
Sorry, John, I must disagree. The series should not have continued after season 4. Season 5 certainly had its funny moments, but it was weak compared to what we saw in the first four seasons. For starters, the heroism was milked so badly it was cringe-worthy. The season should have ended with some form of come-uppance for Marsh.
@stephen john gray That's why I would've preferred the series to end after Season 4. The last episode of that season was such a great, satisfying and realistic ending. Personally, I don't like Season 5 just because of that. To start up all the trouble our four boys have gone through in the previous Seasons again in the fifth one seems so very forced, especially after it had all been so wonderfully resolved in the last EP of S4. It's just too obvious that they originally wanted to end the series after S4, but got kinda forced to continue it due to its success...
One way to finish the series and give the guys another kick in the guts would be his heroic act to get him his 3rd stripe. Be a interesting finish if Alice ended pregnant with a little Corporal. Loved it from start to finish. RIP, Tony Shelby an Gerrard Ryder.🇦🇺

So when all said and done Marsh was right all along he truly was asbestos, rare that the arsehole to finish on top so quite an original ending considering the whole series was building up to a 'gotchya' that never was, great series tho, thanks for uploading
For a number of decades I have desperately wanting to view this series once again. From the very first episode when Jakey answered to Corporal Marsh that his surname is spelt with three fs, I was in stitches. The first four series were such a laugh that I could not stop myself. That being said, I honestly believe that it should have stopped at series four. Don't get me wrong... Series 5 was good but I felt like it has somewhat jumped the shark. When they left for Malta would to me be the perfect ending and Marsh left in Labrador. I personally found Marsh's behaviour was becoming quite overbearing especially in the hospital scene and while Karl Howman did a great job of playing Jakey "Smifff", I still have a soft spot for Robert Lindsay as he made the character. Matthew Lilley had a steady change however the episode prior to this certainly gave me a surprise. I also found at the end of this episode was that all five were in fact collaborating together and in my opinion they should be separated. Get Some In is truly one of the underrated shows around and while the fifth series was good, it was about 60% of what the previous episodes which is still good at my terms.
Loved watching this series, glad for the complete lot on here. Shame Robert lindsay left ,it lost alot of its spark when karl took over even though he did a good job .they should have changed his character. Was this supposed to end like this ,?
Well the show got axed at the end of the fourth series, Robert Lindsay got his own show citizen smith (makes sense as from where he was looking get some in was done). There was a letter writing campaign by a newspaper to get the show recommissioned which is why it was brought back, Lindsay was under contract with the BBC at this point so they had to re cast. As far as was it supposed to end, series 5 was an extra anyway so the show was on borrowed time.
And so we must say farewell to Jockstrap, Holy Joe, Edward VII and Poofhouse Richardson. We'll never know how their 2nd year of National Service went or what became of them afterwards. But above all, it's farewell to Corporal Percy B-A-S-T-A-R-D "Asbestos" Marsh, GM. Light for the Corporal.....
Jockstrap demobbed, moved back to Scotland with Wendy and had a blissful, if quiet, life as a mortuary attendant. Holy Joe followed his father into the Church, did twenty years as RAF Padre, then took over a charming rural parish where he plays harpsichord in the rectory. Edward VII became a used car salesman, then got into double glazing, and became rich in the 1980s. Poofhouse Richardson decided to go to university to study medicine and worked for the rest of his life as an NHS general practitioner. Shortly after graduating from medical school he married Agnes (whose previous fiance turned out to be a rotter). Poofhouse and Holy Joe remained close lifelong friends, although they lost touch with Jockstrap and Edward VII.
@@eliasblum753 And Marsh was demobbed and received an invalid pension in order to avoid being dishonourably discharged. He became a P.E. teacher at a Birmingham comprehensive school.
22.25, you really have to listen to what he just called him. We all know such language would never be allowed on UK tv but it certainly sounds like he just called him a little c**t! I suspect it's coward, but you really have to listen hard and even then it's a leap of faith!
@Nigel Ogden I suspected the writers might have slipped in a similar sounding word such as 'cart' to get it past the censors and allowed the listeners expectations to do the rest. But after reading your comment I rewatched it several times with a careful eye on his lips. This revealed that it is definitely a two syllable word that has the same jaw movements as 'coward'. So you seem to be correct. But then again, I wouldn't put it past a good comedy writer to have deliberately created the situation where the word is easily misheard as something they would have liked to put but weren't allowed.
One of the only things I find difficult to believe is that they keep getting put in situations which are potentially dangerous or life threatening without ANY Training. (like when they put Marsh in charge of swimming instruction w/o any certifications and he almost killed Leckie. and this of course) And of course that these 4 continue to be So naive about how the military works, even though they play the game a couple of times. Jakey starts out with the right idea in recruit training, but we never see this again. (having said that I like the series)
I’ve liked this series but this was a terrible episode and particularly bad as a final episode. Only the previous was worse with religion stopping a liar and a fraud from getting his comeuppance. Next episode he’s still scum. This season was really really bad tired hospital comedy. Thx for the upload!
