I've become fascinated with this part of history. Mostly because Fascism is bundled in with National Socialism and used as a pejorative. When someone calls you fascist (small f), they're calling you a Nazi. And that shuts down debate. I think I understand how the two are related, but also how they are separate entities. If you look at Fascism (capital F) as the sum of its parts, it is - national socialism (lower case n and s). The DAP was a racist ideology (fantasy) without a political vehicle. Enter Fascism. Fascism provided the political basis for the DAP to enter mainstream politics. And the DAP rebranded themselves the NSDAP in 1922 when they saw the way to their victory was through politics, not street fighting against the Bolsheviks. Therefore, Fascism (capital F) is national socialism. National Socialism (capital N&S) is fascist - but it isn’t Fascism. A National Socialist cannot be a Fascist (because Fascism isn't race based, whereas the NSDAP is entirely race-based). A Fascist can be a National Socialist (because you can apply race to Fascism if you wish to, but it isn't a requirement).
Yeah, sure So, here's how a platoon was made up from 1941 to 1943, according to the Addestramento della Fanteria Vol I. (1941) 1 Officer (Pistol, dependending on availability) 1 Runner 2 Squads (20 men), each composed of: 1 Rifle Group (1 NCO, 10 Enlisted) armed with standard-issue rifles (Mod 91 Carcano, variant dependent on availability) 1 Squadra Armi Accompagnamento (LMG Squad), made up of 1 corporal and 2 LMG teams of 4 men each, using Breda Mod. 30 LMGs mostly. The LMG squads were 1 Gunner, armed with LMG and Pistol, 1 loader, armed with a rifle, and 2 ammo carriers, armed with a rifle. This structure, largely unchanged, was kept up until the armistice in 1943. Bear in mind, this is for front operations
