My theory: Every person has a predetermined lifetime. This is what the "clocks" on characters' weapons symbolise. Once that progress bar or meter is depleted/full, that person's life ends. One can extend one's life by taking that of another, that's why there is a perpetual cycle of war between Agnus and Keves.
Somehow, certain characters figure out a way to break free from this cruel way of life, their clocks instead turning into ouroboros. This is seen as a threat to the current order of things and leaders, hence the "ouroboros abhor this world" line.

Well, it's been 2 years now and the game's come out and so has the dlc and honestly I'm quite impressed by how close and correct you were about a lot of things in this video- (The popular fan theory you mentioned literally being like 100% correct was also sick)

The Spanish subtitles refer to Ouroboros in plural terms, indicating it's some kind of group.

Interesting... Perhaps the party is called ouroboros?

@@linkalot7415 That's what some believe! Seems possible to me, since the Ouroboros symbol seems most prominent on the main party members

Thought that's been in my head but the life and world of Xenoblade 1 was comprised entirely of ether manipulated by Zansa and the Monado which would explain why Keves people would also be affected by the clocks as well as maybe the food line with how the Bionis' death and rebirth cycle was life returning to the ether and back into Zansa's body. It'd be interesting if the state of this world revolved around these 2 worlds shaped by the conduit's power decaying now the conduit is gone.
Also unrelated but a theory from a comment on another video that intrigued me. In the cutscene where you arrive at sword valley it's mentioned the Mechonis' sword absorbs ether from the Bionis to fuel the fortesses and the Mechon. This may explain its importance in Xenoblade 3 if its function is to absorb ether but now for another purpose or villain and is sapping the current world of its supply.

Sorry, just realised the volume arrangement in this video is a little whack.
