In OR State zero Penelope or Chattanooga. MM CS and MM46 CS are $55 and $60 so when I hear y'all payin' $30-40 I feel ripped off, which has kept me from even trying those bottles. Tried my 1st Barrel Foundation at $57 and it's great but the batches are $85 and I've never spent over $70 for any given bottle. Yes, the negative feedback of Smoke Wagon lately has kept me from getting, Aaron, if you're watching??
I noticed MM CS go up to $60 in the last couple months, It used to be around $50.
@@0529mpb It's outta control.
I hear ya on paying more for some bottles, but if you haven't tried Broken Top's 113 proof bottle, I think it is great for $50 and most states outside of OR won't even see it
@@90sMallArcade Thanks, I'll look for it.
Maker's Cask Strength is never talked about. Its a banger at that price.
The reason smoke wagon was hard to find was because they had a glass shortage.
Just not feeling the 1920. I’ve bought 2 bottles and given both away. I’ll grab 1910 instead. I tend to like dark and earthy and I think 1920 is just too bright.
I would take Still Austin CS over OF 1920 all day. 1920 just doesn't hit for me for all the hype it gets. I liked Blackened CS and New Riff SBBP better for the money. For $70 (an extra $10) I can get Bakers 7 and interesting high proof store picks which make 1920 a pass for me
I agree with the Rare Breed assessment and I enjoy the Chattanooga bottled in bond more than the 111. I always keep a Knob Creek small batch and an Old Forrester bottled in bond on hand as well.
New riff sib
Outstanding as always guys and for once, I had 3 bottles on an "Always great!..." list. I will be looking to buy the bottles I don't currently have. I had to pour a dram of Barrell 033 and re-watch the episode. Thank you and keep up the great work. Cheers...
Our pleasure!
Chatanooga is 100% not my jam. I went there and did a tasting and wouldn't buy anything I tried.
Too much barley in the Chattanooga mashbill for this old boy
Good solid video, guys. I agree with every whiskey you put up there. I love every one of them, except I haven't tried Penelope yet because it's too tall for my shelf, lol. But lastly, I want to say that Makers Mark Cask Strength is absolutely the most underrated bourbon out there.
I always say if you can’t find Weller or Pappy and want something wheated, grab MM CS. I want to try the 46 CS shortly.
The price is definitely why I held out so long on Barrell. I've had two batches and wasn't blown away, that said Seagrass will always be on my bar. ECBP is allocated here but as tough as our market is its one of the easier to find outside of the insane hype batches. JDSBBP is one of the best values in whiskey AND its always available.
Just added Still Austin Cask Strength to my list. It's next to the JD-SBBP in my "Bourbon Candy" selection.
Smart choice. Also look out for Knob Creek 120 Select, New Riff single barrel, Remus highest rye, and Pinhook magenta wax.
That Still Austin is great.
I probably wouldn’t say ECBP is a shelfer. Nice list!
ECBP is definitely allocated in Ohio.
I've NEVER seen ECBP on a shelf in Illinois.
KC 12 and/or KC single barrel are always good as are the Four Roses single barrels
Always 👍🥃😉
Green river stuff
Barrell batch 36 is on their website today. I think it released yesterday (5.29.24).
Just got my first Penelope barrel strength… it’s very good! I really like the Barrel batch 35. Of course, Rare Breed is on the shelf.
KC or 4 roses single barrel over any of those 👍🥃😉 good video guys
IMHO only would recommend Penelope Barrel Strength if you’re planning on making cocktails with it, I thought the Architect was a way better sipper. Smoke Wagon UCUF is pretty mid, especially at @ $80.
Rare Breed is still the champ of all shelfers.
What's happening, or not happening, with Barrell ?

The ole’ rumor mill says it looks like they’re selling off a large amount of their barrel stock for cash and streamlining their 5 million different bottling options for a fresh look. And they’ve also already discontinued their Stellum brand. Their Stellum black label are all $80 and they usually 100-120.
We think they are staying opening but we will see.
I would say OF 1910, Rebel Small Batch Reserve, Larcency Barrel Proof, and Hard Truth Four Grain or Wheated need to be on the shelf too
Maker’s Mark Cask Strength used to be our daily drinker, but very suddenly it became hard to find in our area. I haven’t bought a bottle in nearly a year, but for a while it was the best value we could find. 🤷🏻♂️
Barrell is a great mention! Batch 27 rivals a lot of higher end bottles for me. Stellum (also by Barrel Craft) is also very good.
I finished a Barrell Batch 31 a couple of months ago and found it to be delicious. I just opened a bottle of Seagrass yesterday and it is the perfect warm weather rye. I have an unopened Vantage that I'm saving for Fall.
Solid choices
I just got another bottle of JD barrel proof at 132.6 it is freaking delicious.
And i don’t wanna be that guy but the new label rare breed i have is really nutty. Rare breed of the past had a pecan note but this is straight peanut. I’m hoping it’s just this batch and the rest will be as good as I’ve always had
I finally found a bottle of the old label rare breed and it is head and shoulders better than the new. Like i said i hope it’s just one batch.
Agreed on all of these that I've tried (never had the OF, Old Rt 8, or Smike Wagon). in upstate NY and Long Island, all but Chattanooga are readily available and competitively priced. The MM Cask Strength is such a bargain as a step (or 2) better than regular MM. BTW, the 95 proof expression of Chattanooga also rocks!
I love OF 1920 and JDSBBP! I do like WT Rare Breed, but I rather add ten bucks and get a Russell’s Reserve SB. I also like Knob Creek Single Barrel. Thanks for the video!
Couldn't agree more with Rare Breed. I've been drinking it for YEARS...and it has yet to leave me disappointed.
Knob Creek Single Barrel should be there. The bottle I’m working on now is better than about half the Bookers I’ve tried. The MMCS got me to quit chasing Weller 107.
The dregs of my WT101 and Rare Breed bottles get poured into an old WT101 forever handle before it gets a chance to oxidize. Of course, you could just finish it right now, but I have to adult too much.
ECBP is allocated in FL. If you see it on the shelf you better grab it and run
Redwood empire should have been on this list
Definitely OF100 bourbon and rye. ECSmB. OF1910. WRDO.
