Al! So happy I found you! Poured $5k into my Pop’s 1993 F150 w 38K miles on it. Straight six, manual w 5th overdrive. For last 10 years it hasn’t been driven much and before that, the first 20 years Pop took it to work, Groceries, that’s it! So I asked a couple of guys to fix it up and get all the rusty lines out and I have a rough time starting it up and it has a rough idle. I called the guys and the most experienced told me to check You Tube for this exact thing! Wish me luck!
Glad to hear it fixed your problem. My truck intermittently will stall out at redlights gonna blast my iac with carb cleaner and see if it helps my issue
@@Chief-CO I'm curious as well, having the same issue stalling at lights in the middle of traffic. Only happens when letting off the brake and going to give it gas. Started happening after I did an AC conversion since freon is illegal now
I bought my part at Autozone - it was part #ABV0032. I just used the generic brand of carb cleaner at Autozone or any other auto parts store. Good luck!
i have the 1990 f150 and i installed a map sensor and the idle air controller and it definitely helped but i am getting weird readings on the vacuum gage from the manifold and i think one of the valves might be broken or sticking haven't confirmed yet
1996 F-150 XT 5.0L Engine starts when cold. After reaching operating temp will not start when left for a short time unless let to cool off. Replaced ICM, coil and distutor cap. May backfire and then start. Any ideas why it will not start when hot?
Great question - my thoughts are that typically no, the IAC wouldn’t cause crank no start. I would look into a few of the following: - check power to the coil via volt meter, possibly bad coil - coil wire loose or corroded - check inertia switch- that can pop and cause crank no start, although I’ve never had an issue myself - Fuel tank selector switch bad - Bad ignition control module - Bad PIP sensor in the distributor, replace distributor - Bad ECM - Conduct KOEO test to see if it provides any codes that give you direction Hope this helps!
I always replace the PVC valve before moving to this part. Lot's of times, it's a bad PVC, and they're much cheaper to replace! But if that doesn't fix the problem, this is next!

That’s a sweet pickup, Manual and straight six good combo
Thanks! It’s been a great truck for us for a lot of years.

I hope cleaning the IAC helps! If not, another item to potentially review/replace is the fuel pressure regulator, which sits on the fuel rail.
Did you ever find a fix? Mine is doing the same

@jordanketterling4517 freon is illegal? Also, mine was a combination of needing new spark plugs, and my torque converter going bad. Still not fixed...
What is the course of action if when I unplug my iac valve nothing changes? 91 f250 7.5l thank you for any knowledge you are willing to share.
Do you have a video of putting the idle control Sencer out it in
Where did you buy your part? And any particular brand of carb cleaner? Currently needing and believing the IAC needs to be changed in mine

Thanks a ton, other than the IAC what other part could be causing it to idle low? Did you end cleaning the throttle body as well?

Just had the same exact problem with same truck change your coolant temp sensor! Drove me nuts!!
Will replacing this stop my truck from revving and then coming back down constantly while in neutral?
YES
Same truck hard start in cold weather only below 40 degrees Fahrenheit...v8 5.0
Did u try your coolant temp sensor

In my 1996 4.9 Engine, that problem beginning after replacing old battery for a new one.
Could it cause the egr to not open?
Mine does the same thing but i replaced the iac a few weeks ago already snd it just started doing this
Try map or maf sensor
Good job 👍
Thanks
What is the part number pls
Fix your clock spring
Lol fun working on vehicles huh...you aint the only one who's done it 😂
Yep! More time than I’d like to admit on that truck. Always seems to be something lately.
