- How to fix a faulty touch screen. This was on a Sony xav-68bt Bluetooth DVD player, however the idea is the same for the majority of stereos out there. Take your time, don’t rush things, don’t apply too much pressure to anything and you should be able to work it out.

Thanks. With a few variations worked for an XAV-V631BT and I only had 4 screws left over...
😅 nice one! We once had a marine radio that kept getting wet and we kept having to pull it apart, dry it and rebuild it. Every time we did it we ended up with a spare screw or wire and every time it worked better than the last time! 🤪

I dump out 2 of the little parts that were in the button tray, just like you said to be careful about. Ugh. Figuring out how those went back in was the hardest part of the whole thing. Is it possible to put in backwards, I have no picture, touchscreen. But I hear sound. I don't know, just a mechanic😅
The touch function comes from the touch panel that was replaced in the video but the picture comes from LCD screen which is a separate component. The touch panel sits on top of the LCD screen. When you say you hear sound are you getting the audible beep when you touch the screen? If so your touchpad might be okay. If not you may need to replace both… or there could be more issues going on. up to you if you feel it’s worth investing the time/money without knowing if it will fix it or not. At some point it might just be better to replace whole unit.
Thans for replying. I noticed when I took it apart the connection to the touchscreen just fell off. Didn't know if they are just glued on, plus it was wider. Than the replacement . Gonna go back at it. I don't recall if it beeped. I hear it picking up my automaticly but can't turn up with the know. Thanks for everything. Do they glue the ribbons on the touhpads do you know? Also checked the 10amp fuse on the back . All ok
This item is just the touch panel, it is different to the screen. Screen was still fully function. What was your original issue No screen? Or yes screen but no touch response?

When i took out the unit, the main connector attachment that sits on the motherboard just came off with the sticky tape on the outside.. It seems like it just sits back in there, so i superglu'd each corner to hold it in place but I have no power turning it on now. Any ideas how I can go about fixing it? Seems like it fits in a specific spot, but the gold connectors don't look like they're really touching.. Knew I'd fuck up something

@@bbtrevival Yea that's the one, thanks for the response. I've tried googling images to see exactly how it sits but I can't seem to find anything, or a motherboard to buy as it's too old I guess. Just need to see how it sits / why it isn't working, looks like it's back in the original position. everything else seems to be connected perfectly, had hopes that it would still work
@@JaseWoody so confirming the connector itself has detached from the board? It’s not just the plastic folding clip that has failed? Sometimes they can become dislodged and can snap back into place. If it is the whole connector it would really need to be soldered back on.
@@bbtrevival Yea the entire connector, I was going to solder it however the whole underside that has detached is plastic, doesn't look like it does anything. it just seems to sit there to hold onto the ribbon. the gold connectors just dont seem to be touching, I have taken pictures. Would i solder them together?

Sorry to hear that. I don’t know enough about that kinda stuff to give you good direction, however if it is registering you are plugging into the USB port but not reading then might be a software issue. If it’s not registering you plugging stuff into the port then more likely hardware. Could check the USB port connectors to the main board. Sorry 😞
