TH-cam: imma recommend this when it’s completely outdated 3 years later
@America he's just making a joke kid
I am new to f1, why is this outdated?
@@VxG_Ghost different tyres
@@Galanonim022 these tyres was used since 2016-2018 till 2019 it got reduced to 3 types of tyres only
@@VxG_Ghost Its not really outdated. Technically, there are still 2 Wet and 5 dry compounds. But the have different names now. It Used to be that each dry compound had its own name and color associated with it: Purple - UltraSoft; Red - Supersoft; Yellow - Soft; White - Medium; Orange - Hard. Now they are named, From hardest to softest - C1, C2, C3, C4, C5. Pirelli assigns 3 of them for the race weekend (c1c2c3 or c2c3c4 or c3c4c5, always adjacent) and then colors them with same 3 colors every weekend: Red - Soft, Yellow - Medium, White - Hard.
for the purposes of the Grand Prix the Red tyre is always the softest, White is the hardest and Yellow is medium tyre for that specific GrandPrix. But commentators and viewers can always access info about which specific tyre is used.
Ironic that this is getting recommended after Baku
TH-cam sus. Pirelli gonna sue them
Yeah same
Same but after Hungary
Sochi
Mine after turkey
"Moves up to 85 litres per second"
Somehow that seems fucking amazing to me. 1 litre is a lot, but a single tire moves 85 litres in a single second. w h a t
per 4 tires
But you know than it is 85 liters when car goes 300km/h
I drink 0.5 liter of water per day
@@slinky4126 pure water maybe yes, but with other and in food more.
But you know than it is 85 liters when car goes 300km/h
Yes yes yes i'm doing all the tires you don't have to remind me every second.
Just leave me alone i know what im doin...
Bwoah
just leave me alone I’m reading the comments
Bwoah
R/wooooooosh there tyres not tires in F1
How about some Rainbow tires? When you put them on the car just starts FLYING.
Snow tyres. So we can drive some races at winter :p
Garon Moore rainbow tires so they can *BUMP DRAFT*
Racing version of anal sex
are that dum there are barely any flying cars... god make up ur mind
There is a rainbow range of tyres of 2018, kudos for predicting the future XD.
JH yeah
"Requires skill and strategy"
Donna if Ferrari understands these 2 words .....
Emran Alsiyabi ii
I find it very funny how some average joe sitting at home knows better than Ferrari.
I find it hilarious how some people assume who you are and how much you know based on a TH-cam comment.
Yeah, you just stated a very strong argument against me. lol.
Emran Alsiyabi internet is indeed a world filled with people assuming too much.
Best Tyre of the guide: Max Verstappen
How did this meme with Max started?
+turboheadcrab666 Because Max is just _that_ good; He can manage tires like no other, find grip in rainy conditions where others don't dare to go, keep much faster cars stuck behind him in an inferior car, and the list goes on and on. There's a reason Max is compared to the likes of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
+halofreak1990 lol Verstappen fanboy
+turboheadcrab666 max would get all the time driver of the day, sometimes undeserved.
its a joke because he kept getting driver of the day last year because of twitter.
LEAKED: Ferrari strategists are putting 3 sets of wets for Bahrain when no rain was detected
Oh yes for next season Ferrari has already prepared soft and hard tires for 100% rain in Britain
in which year ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
DEV NIRAVKUMAR BHARUCHA CLASS VI M r/wooooosh
If you are watching this in 2019
There is only 5 compounds which is
1 soft
2 medium
3 hard
4 inter or the Green tyre
5 wets
@Presley Mpunga • 33 years ago Savant
@Presley Mpunga He means that in 2019 the compounds changed to only 3 dry tyres and the usual 2 wet
Dry: Soft, medium and hard.
Which are the "Red" "Yellow" & "White".
Pretty sure that in 2020 they are going to be the same
FELITO 21 there are still all the same dry compounds, just numbered C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5. And Pirelli chooses 3 to take to each race such as C2, C3 and C4 or C3, C4 and C5. They just make the hardest one white, medium yellow and red for soft. Like the Hard for Monaco is the soft at Barcelona.
2020: soft. medium. hard. wets
@@kain5637 Almost correct. This video is so old they even made a change with the tyres before they change it again to what we have today.
In 2018 they added "Hypersoft" and "Superhard". So in 2018 we had 7(!) dry compounds. From 2019 they removed the compounds "Supersoft" and "Superhard" and named them C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5.
Also for people curious, the covers they have on the tyres are heating pads so when the fresh tyres go on, they are warm enough to provide grip until the road warms them up. Same reason you see the people with the hair-dryer looking things, those are basically blow-torches used to warm the brakes so they have enough grip to stop the car until they get enough heat from general use. If you would want to see what a car would do without this, look at the Top Gear clip of Hammond driving a F1 car. Basically, he doesn't drive fast enough to retain heat in the tyres and brakes and spins out at practically every turn.
These videos really make me excited for the weekend! Good job!
when is the race if i may ask
ARE YOU SERIOUS? I CAN TELL YOU EVEN MORE THAN THAT! FRIDAY- PRACTICE 1 PRACTICE 2 SATURDAY- PRACTICE 3 QUALIFYING SUNDAY-RACE
Mr39foor depends on where you are
@morten mortwnsson how has your three years been
@@Conor214 Quite good! I've picked up a couple of new hobbies, new school with nice people and I'm in better shape physically. Probably spent a bit more time on youtube than i would like to admit though :) How come you ask? And how has your three years been?
All the tires
Dry tires
Ultrasoft : Have the most grip but wears out the fastest
Supersoft : Slightly increases the range and slightly less grip
Soft : More range and less grip
Mediums : Balance of grip and range
Hard : Most range but least amount of grip
Wet tires
Intermediates : Used for ligher rain
Wets : Used for heavy rain
Yes the floor is made out of floor floor
@@img4033 Yes the hard tyres are uselss in Hungary
I can't be the only one who's missing the five colors instead of always using the same three
They do use the other 3 it's just changed so it's simplified for fans. FIA and Pirelli have made it so you can only have 3 dry compounds over the race weekend and they choose the C sets prior to the race weekend from previous tyre datas on which they feel are the best ones to use. You may hear the imfomous C3 C4 C5 most race weekends
I miss them specially the hard blue tyre from 2018
@@mattle841 we talking about the colors bruh
we know the tires are the same i just miss the colors
@@banrtv yeah, I love those purple color.
@@mattle841 It's not simplified at all it's so confusing now. Red can mean 3 different types of softs, yellow can sometimes mean a soft even tho it's the medium colour it's garbage. C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 is a godawful system. The rainbow was as simple as you could get and it was better
That's very good for new fans
Yes! I'm one of them :))
Welcome to the addiction
Friday Weekend Welcome my friend!!!!! Go to F1.com or search here to learn some of the history.
Αλέξανδρος Γκαμανής, thank you so much! :)
HairlessHare, thank you :)
My tomorrow: 1. wake up, 2. turn on the tv, 3. start watching qualifying, 4. end watching qualifying, 5. play f1 2016
Nice day coming!
do you play practice do you know how to do settings
Meanwhile I gotta stay up till 2:00 AM to watch quali.
I hope you like staying at home
Our tommorow: 1. Wake up, 2. Pick a tyre, 3. Realise it's wrong, 4. Finish 4th and 7th after a 1-2 in qualifying, 5. Sit in a dark room and ponder the meaning of life
Purple ultrasoft
Red: soft
Yellow: medium
White: hard
Orange: idk maybe ultrahard
Purple ultra soft
Red: super soft
Yellow: soft
White: medium
Orange: Hard
1:09 Hamilton just casually walk by
Yep
His tyres were gone so he was looking for new ones
Hmm yes I want to watch an outdated video discussing the several types of tires within F1, many of which aren’t even usable anymore.
Who's here after Baku 2021?
I got my friend interested in watching F1 this weekend because of your great videos Liberty Media! :)
ME TOO
he need to play the f1 game to like it more
recommended when the tyres of stroll and verstappen blew up
Don't mind me
Just here after the British GP when Lewis won with only 3 tyres
I'm sure people are revisiting tires after watching 2020 Turkish GP. I never saw inters wearing out becoming slicks
we all did, again
I love the tire colors.it makes the tire management part of the race easier to understand and looks awesome!!
back when Softs used to be Yellow .
Amazing quality, and content. Thank you Lib!:)
who’s here after they introduced the dry tires
Benjamin Ivey yup
There's actually one wet compund. The other one is like the chicken pox: Nobody wants it, but they got it.
what is the name of the music? damn.. it's good
update for new fans: they don't use ultrasofts and super softs anymore :/ they only use soft medium and hards, then the inters and wets for rain
sorry thats not completely correct, all the soft compounds are just called softs now and are red stripe, all the middle compounds are combined into mediums which are yellow stripe, and all the harder compounds are now hards and are white striped
"The rain tyres have CHONKY thread"
i think f1 needs to introduce a tyres that can go the whole race or half . at the end of the day a race is won by boxing at the right time and all that bull. we want a race . not box box , its 2022 we can make stronger tyres. and they will just hurry up.
F1: let’s explain the tires
Also F1: let’s change them
what has changed?
@@joey5106 they got rid of Ultra Soft and stuff like that, and the colors are different now
@@bluecrayon007 I'm new to F1. Can you give me a link or inform me which tyres are still around and what colours they are?
(insert a comment about praising the liberty media
for this video)
Well, considering they booted Big Buck Bernie I'm more than praising them
Bring back the hyper soft 😢
I still wonder why they now use 3 tire compounds and removed Ultra Soft and the old Hard tyre.
WARNING!! (outdated)
As of 2021 there are only 5 tyre compounds
Dry tires or Slicks
1. Soft (Red)
2. Medium (Yellow)
3. Hard (White)
Wet tyres or treaded
1. Intermediate (Green)
2. Wet (Blue)
Bwoah, good video keep up the great work
Now it’s soft red medium yellow hard white
New fans got no clue what is going on
Anyone see the new Honda adds? they say the engine was built using info from their F1 cars.... if that's the case, I don't want that shit, they can't keep a car in track more then 20 laps lol
BackRoad Kingdom lol so true mate
Wonder if their suspension in their cars was built from that info also.
Bloody hell, who's in their PR department?!
fastpace101 mclaren suspensions tho
indy car i feel more like
f1 is mclaren
Had to come here to understand the tyre choice after Max's win
Not only did I learn about the different compounds, I also learned I have been spelling "tires" wrong my entire life. Tyres...ok, got it.
And to think Liberty is a US mob. Well done.
Tyres. Tyres.
Ya no kidding. I guess a joke doesn't go over well in text. Thanks for the education though.
I love the tires rules.
But one thing i would love to add to this sport again to make it more tactical and engaging- pit stops with refueling.
idk if they're gonna add refueling back; fuel used to spill way too often and also led to fires...
but you're right, refueling does make the race more tactical
0:40
Me: wait that's not soft, thats medium!
Video: *4 years ago*
Me: oh
TH-cam: imma recommend this when it’s completely outdated 6 years later
"requires strategy and skill"
meanwhile in gran turismo sport:
I'm selecting super soft for a 30 lap enduarance race
Meanwhile I'm here with a set of summer and winter..
2025:
1. Extreme ultimate gigasoft
2. Ultimate gigasoft
3. Gigasoft
4. Megasoft
5. Ultrasoft
6. Supersoft
7. Soft
8. Medium
9. Hard
10. Super hard
11. Mega hard
Not funny , get a life
YEEES, SI RAGAZZI, MI SENTITE? FORSA FERARI!
*Forza
Dai dai dai forza Ferrari
If your watching 2021
1. Soft is red
2.medium is yellow
3. Hard is white
4.intermediate is green
5.wet is dark blue
Super soft and ultra soft don’t exist anymore
they do but they change the entire lineup of tures fo each weekend for example medium being white soft being yellow and super soft being red on another weekend hard may be white etc
BRING THESE TIRES BACK BRO
i wish they'd return to the supersofts and ultras and hypers.
The c1 2 3 4 5 way worse to follow
TH-cam's algorithm has a funny sense of humour, I like it, I like it.
This didn't age well
Lol. Formula 1 should be the land of excess. Unlimited tires, unlimited fuel, unlimited chassis. Now it's like a glorified high school flugtag
thank goodness they got rid of this system
Why there can't be one type of tyre that is balanced to roll on any road in any condition?
It's outdated only because Perelli needs to insult us. Because too many colours is too complicated. Come on man, this isn't nascar we have more then a few braincells. Not to mention, what if they mix up the tires and someone gets white tire that are harder then previous white ones. Or someone gets yellow tires while yellow is actually red. We're not children.
Why am I getting recommended this in 2020
Lol
Srsly? I got a falken tires ad in this video?
This is somehow satisfying
And all of the pictures tires make Marzepin spin donuts no matter what the conditions hah
Today: Hard,Medium,Soft
Ok this is old the new tyres are
Red:softs
Yellow:medium
White:hard
Green:intermediate
Blue:heavy wet
0:07 what a beautiful site of this amazing F1 tyres.
Anyone here in November 2020 where there are only 5 compounds of tyres now😂😂
and 2 of them is not gonna be used this season (hards and wet)
thomasjs03 *1 compound not used (hard) wets will be useless but still put on under safety car start
This is great but I'm looking for more videos on the engineering technology and analysis as the season goes on!
beginers guide:
yeah its like *we are gonna race in f1*
A beginners guide is surely they are black and round :p
Would have nice if it included the estimated laps a specific tyre can do.
depends on lenght of lap, how the driver drives etc...
As of turkey 2020 there are 3 wet tyres. Wet, inters and inter-slicks
Ah yes, the days of 7 different tyres
8 in 2018, when they added the pink hypersofts that could barely do 5 laps
I got recommended this after Lando Norris lost in the rain
lol same tho
FOR PEREZ ITS ALL HARDS 😂
Best strategy is to go with tyres with almost no pit stops but to pull it off you have to be n amazing excellent driver
Basically go with hard tyres
Or medium
Soft tyres are useless
Good video, except you didn't explain the most important thing. Apart from making life more difficult for teams and drivers, and making the race outcome more prone to luck than skill, what is the point of this intricate regulation?
Why are there only Pirelli tyres ? First there used to be Michelin and Bridgestone ?
Because money and consistency in the product. Formula 1 wants races with pit stops for entertainment value. If multiple tyre companies were competing they would make tyres that could last an entire race. Back in the day multiple companies was the case but nowadays the current system for what F1 wants requires one company.
What fastpace said plus I remember a race somewhere around 2004-2006 where bridgestone had a compound issue and more than half of the cars couldn't participate becuase of that. The year after that they changed the regulation to all cars having the same tire manufacturer provide rubber for them
Yeah, it was the US Grand Prix, only Ferrari and 2 other teams raced! For some reason I watched the whole race, mostly out of shock I think! It was a shame though, I think it was one of the reasons it hurt future plans for a US Grand Prix, would be nice to still have Americans involved.
The race of the Americas, its been on the calendar since 2011
And for 2018 they come up with a fucking rainbow
Remove the medium and ultra soft.
Make the supersof last max 15 or 18 laps before it goes boom or flat.
Ultrasoft is like a freakin HARD tyre????? 30 laps??? 47 laps?????
Really FIA????
ITS NO ENDURANCE RACE!
The point is to make f1 MORE interesting.
This is just a load of bull....
Why are you going to ruin our favorite sport.
Or... just leave the supersoft and the rain tyre.
So they can drive on one tyre the whole race.
If the Ultra sof last 40+ laps the super can last an entire race.
They litterally made it harder now...
Soft was soft and super soft was super soft...
Now soft can be supersoft tire but also be medium tire depending on the race ...
Remember when there was a purple and an orange tire? Yeah me too.
This isn't true anymore. Whys it showing me this
Because TH-cam algorythm
Why is this recommend after bowling in Hungary ?
Max: i can win on every tyre.
Recommended After Circuit Paul Ricard. OML😂
Nascar tires be like: "WE PUT DA BLACK ONES ON DA FRONT AND DA BLACK ONES IN DA REAR!!!!"
Wets: blue
Intermediate: green
Hard: Orange
Medium:Grey
Soft: Yellow
Super soft: Red
Ultra soft: Purple
Wow what a surprise. TH-cam decides to recommend me old TH-cam vids at possibly the wrong time.
Who watch this in 2020, don't now what they say.
2017-in video...
2019:
Wet-blue
Inter-green
Soft-red
Medium-yellow
Hard-white
Aaaah yes, I'm still waiting for Pirelli to make UltraHyperGigasoft™️ tyres.
Why did i got that recommend now that it's useless?
Red Bull has another tyre option for it's stops - NO tyres. cf. Monaco 2016.
First! Not bad if you think this is the official channel of F1
Stay calm, just kidding! :)

i've never Seen somebody using hard tyres... only medium and softer

Leo W your English is better then mine!
Where are you from if I may ask :)
f1 should make a new video for this
maybe take this down since is totally out of date
ThEse TyrEs ArE gOnE
May as well drop the hard compound because it's never used anymore.
This year Pirelli over estimated deg and all five slicks are way too hard. They already said to bring softer compounds next year.
