OMG Delany, you have been so held in silence all these years! Someone has told me that your dad was the most consomit story teller, and then you came out and got envolved! All my years following Buffett, I will just say that you are in his songs and in his dreams!
The Songs you don’t know my heart is a great series of songs. Loved the rendition of 12 volt man. The lyrics and poetry of the song were emphasized with the acoustic version.
I’ve watched that a few times. I couldn’t believe how bossy she was to her dad; something very few people could do. Imagine telling Jimmy Buffett how many times he played a song, then arguing with him about it, when he’s the one who plays the songs. I am surprised she’s uncomfortable on video, she is a naturally beautiful young woman. Doesn’t need makeup. Lucky girl. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

Delaney, I met a guy in 1983 who was my partner in his cousin’s wedding and he inadvertently turned me onto Buffett music. Thank you Delaney; Thank you Jimmy. You entertained, you inspired, you gave us pause to consider much that we hadn't considered before. You taught us to relax, how to live a much more enjoyable life, to take time to have some fun and improve the quality of our lives, to not take it all so seriously and to be kinder and more loving to ourselves and the other people in our lives. The problem for writers like Jimmy Buffett in today's world is that some of his greatest songs are tucked away on an album and today's consumers don't necessarily buy albums. They buy individual songs on Itunes, etc. I was watching a video of a guitar instructor on TH-cam (Art-of-Guitar) who instructs his students to listen to entire albums to get a better idea of musical ideas. I can honestly say that my favorite Jimmy Buffett songs are not the ones you hear on the radio or from Songs You Know By Heart. I love his music and I buy the CD's so I can enjoy all of his songs. Death of an Unpopular Poet and Love in the Library are fantastic. I would love to see them continue with this video series.
Coast of Carolina and One Particular Harbor are my favorite Jimmy Buffett songs, aside from liking all his other work. The bar anthems are alright, however, Come Monday stands out as his premier signature song imo.
I just watched all those videos and really enjoyed hearing the stories of each song straight from the writer. Jimmy played and sang beautifully and seemed to genuinely enjoy playing them for his daughter.
I did the same thing and then topped it off with this wonderful interview. I read Delaney’s letter on Instagram yesterday about her dad’s passing. It made this interview even more endearing. Thanks for helping this sad parrothead to grieve.
I have been a lifelong parrothead since the 70s and I have just discovered this series now after Jimmy has passed and I just watched all of the videos, some with tears in my eyes. And what I want to say is that through these videos and the insight to the songs, for those of us who are still in shock even now at his passing, these videos are a gift from beyond the grave to his fans. To truly enjoy a JB song, knowing the backstory is everything. JB will be mourned for a long time. He was one of a kind.
We hope it's on "Songs You Don't Know by heart II". Buffett has done so much work. There's no telling what he's got on tape in the vault that we won't hear until either he decides to release it or a family member releases it posthumously.
I'm just always impressed with Delaney. She is such a 'real' person. I think she and her dad were/are 2 people I would loved to have met/meet in my lifetime. I'm sad that I know more about Jimmy now that he has passed, even after reading his books and listening to his music. lov
I stumbled upon this wonderful project shortly after Jimmy's recent passing (RIP). My sincere condolences to Delaney and the entire Jimmy Buffett family & fandom. Live on Parrot head!
If Delaney can write half as well as she can speak.....wow. She mentioned her ambitions as a storyteller. The best stories are the true ones. Would love to see her write her memior as a biography of her father with all the proper research, interviews etc. That would be a helluva story and perspective on his legacy.
I will have to listen to all of this interview later in the year but how awesome it was for Delaney and Jimmy to give us Songs You Don't Know By Heart!
No surprise to me Delaney is such a grounded well spoken person and a wonderful advocate for Jimmy's work and legacy. Thank you for letting the world experience and enjoy your dad, and thank you for this wonderful insightful interview! Bubbles up....
Delaney, when you are good at what you do I don’t think people begrudge you the situation you are in. Its when people get recognition because of their parent and they fall short of expectations that we have an issue. I think you are doing a wonderful job!!! 💚💚
Ive promoted jimmy around the ozarks .I really was one of the few people who even knew who jimmy was , were talking 1976 A1A, my brother lived in Nashville and he found it in a record shop. So when changes came out i was hooked . I was kind of disappointed when the parrot head thing came out , it wasn't so intimate .Still a fan but his best era was the late 70s and early 80s .
A very intelligent and thoughtful interview....a tip of the hat to both the interviewer and the interviewed. The Buffets did a great job raising a family...what an incredibly well-grounded and articulate young woman. I've really enjoyed the video series featuring Jimmy and Delaney and was glad to come across this interview.
Delaney your a Natural for a Professional... No One could've pulled this off with your Dad because he's sharing with you pieces of him... This is him, and his moment with you.. .Beautiful. The Songs you don't know is Great for exposing Fans to the "Unsung"... I appreciate that you guys dusted off these spectacular gems..
Thank you for doing this interview. I'm a very early fan and most of these were songs I did know by heart and always wished he played more in concert. The treasure is hearing the stories behind them. You did a good job Delaney!
Thank you both❤️I just saw Jimmy in concert Tuesday night in Cincinnati. He sang “Delaney talks to statues”💕bless you and keep telling your stories! It has been a pleasure getting to know you!!
Wow, what a precious young lady! God gifted her with lovely grace! I love her! Reminds me of my dad and myself. We were very close.... Oh and he was a musician. A great trumpet player. Gone 31 years and I think of him everyday! God bless Delaney!
@thepaulleslie You're welcome Paul! Did I like the interview? More like I loved it! I can't believe I watched an hour without getting up and leaving. Usually I'll watch a video for 15 minutes and run. Lol.... I wish you or someone here knows Delaney personally and gives her a great big hug in my name. Beautiful attitude and spirit. She is blessed. God bless you too Paul 🙏🏻
Just visited Margaritaville in Cozumel after Jimmy:s passing...had to sit there and have a beer thinking of him and today found your interview with Delaney....what a beautiful way she continues Jimmy's life....❤
Thank you so much for watching the interview and for taking the time to make this lovely comment. Delaney is a great lady. I’m so glad we got to have this interview.
What a wonderful young lady! One of the positive elements of the pandemic were the "home" performances by Jimmy, Aaron Neville, John Fogarty and others. I sure hope they release a DVD of the "songs You Don't Know By Heart" video series. And yes, I know them all by heart and many others too. Sail on Jimmy!
Delaney, You have the BEST Dad ever. Besides. According to the time. It's 5:00 somewhere. I've been to Margaritaville once. Not Key West. But somewhere else. Sorry guys. Anyway Delaney, I have a niece named Delaney. She's 15 years old now. And will be 16 this year. Yikes!
Delaney has a beautiful smile like her Dad and the same sort of twinkle in her eyes. She is a credit to her parents, who are surely very proud of her. He must be smiling down on her with tremendous love. We will all miss him. Thank God he will never be forgotten because we can still hear his great music and see his beautiful smile on videos. Thanks for sharing this wonderful interview!
Hoping the interviews you did with your dad bring you comfort as time goes on. I loved the series because of the focus on the stories and your dad's playing of songs I love most (not always played the most) blessings to you and your family
I stumbled across this gem while looking at pics of the beautiful Buffett children. Delaney Buffett is smart, funny, and beautiful human.🌙🌴Thanks to Paul Leslie for sharing.
This is so interesting! I appreciate Delaney’s candid interview & the video series really fleshes out her father’s career. So many of Buffett’s songs, particularly material from his first 6 albums, deserve an accompanying video… Delaney is surely best suited to direct such a project. RIP Jimmy.
Thank you for this interview. Delaney is so well spoken and the series gave such insight to the songs that I have loved since the 1970s. I loved his music before he “made it” and I treasure the memories of those early concerts. This interview and the series she and her father did are pure gifts.
Thanks for a great interview that helps Ms Buffett's notoriety and sates older fans' thirst for more background on her dad's story! I love it when a young person in the shadow of a famous parent blooms under their own power. It's obvious from the series that daughter loves dad and dad loves daughter. Wait...there's a song in there somewhere, lol!
A whale could fart, and clever Jimmy Buffett could write a hit song about it! I love in the middle of a conversation, stopping- and pointing out the Buffett song about this, then segueing back to the original subject! Thank you, young Delaney! (I remember when you and Savannah were born, and when we all met sweet little man Cameron!) Your parents are so proud, I'm sure!
Your father is the most amazing singer and song writer of all times. I've listened to him since I was tall enough to reach the 8 track back in the 70s. I'm from the west coast of Florida. Ask him to speak of Bertie Higgins!
I'm a long-time Parrothead, but didn't know anything about Delaney Buffett until stumbling upon this interview. What an unexpected delight! She seems like a really cool person as well as very articulate and interesting. P.S. Delaney Talks to Statues is one of my favorite songs by her father. :)
I have two Buffetts I have respect for because of their “ smarts and work ethic.” Warren and Jimmy. I think there is another Buffett I need to pay attention to. What a wonderful interview. I enjoyed it. Delaney has a great future ahead of her. I just love documentaries.
I always consider a song as a gift. I was familiar with each of these songs but this makes them a registered. So wonderful. Since his passing this series is a treasured gift. Thank you so much Delaney. You and your dad are both good storytellers. I know your dad was proud.
What an amazing young woman you are, Delaney! Thank you for doing this interview! You make me have such wonderful memories of my Daddy! He borrowed quite a few of my Jimmy cds! He loved Son of a Son and Island!!! Again, God bless you and your family!💝👂🏼💖
Delaney is accomplished in her own way. Her parents did a great job!❤ You can see Jimmy in her. I hope she will someday write a book about her Dad. 🙏 🫧
“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”― Friedrich Nietzsche Fly away iconic Beatles, take another road out of town legendary vocalist Steve Perry and Journey, Jimmy Buffett, the chilled poetic, musical visionary may turn out to be the most popular singer/modern day Shakespearean lyrical storyteller in history. What an amazing "squawking Macaw hooman" virtuoso, soaring high over the human drama on the song lines of sublime tropical breezes and trade winds of love and compassion for all of humanity!!!! Rest in peace Jimmy, dear "endless summer" friend and musical confidant for over 30 yrs. Jimmy, the ultimate Hawaiian Big Kahuna, you rode the ultimate blue Maverick surf wave in life.
Wonderful to see Delaney seems to have her dad's immense charms combined with I detect a more intellectual, erudite side. The best of both worlds. Jimmy's, Mark Twain's like ability with humor and storytelling that distinctive, pirate and "tree top flyer" Emersonian self reliance all combined with a tequila shot glass dash of a more contemplative Walt Whitman poetic nuance. Ty for showcasing Delaney in this delightful and highly informative interview for Jimmy Buffett aficionados.. Margarita cheers@@thepaulleslie
Great to know, and very Thankful that both , T.P. and Capn Buffet have these fantastic children, daughter to curate and share the musical legacy of their Great artist Fathers. Thank Ladies!
Thank you Delaney, your interviews with your dad are amazing. Would you be interested in doing a documentary about Jimmy as a family man and a business man? We know his persona I think. A I started interviewing my grandfather when he was older and now my parents you can create treasures for your family and teaching moments for his fans.

It’s shocking now, knowing when Delaney did this interview, and when Delaney and her dad did the video series that they knew Jimmy had an expiration date. Thank you Buffett family for this gift. I am hoping that they taped more songs and interviews than they originally released. I could watch one every day of the rest of my life and not get bored. Jimmy’s death has effected me more than I thought it would. It’s not just his music, it’s the lifestyle we can escape to. I love to fly and sail. Every time I go sailing, Jimmy’s music is as important to have on board as life vests. After I get to meet Jesus and the apostles, in heaven, I’m looking for the Beaches and Jimmy.
OMG! I'm in love! She is so articulate, poised, well spoken, clearly intelligent, and it would seem very down-to-earth and easy going. I, of course have no idea, but she seems genuine. She is exactly what you would think Jimmy Buffet's daughter would be: laid back, fun, and kind. And stunning! Absolutely mesmerizingly beautiful! SMOKING hot! What does it though, the sexiest thing is you can tell she's a little bashful. When smiles real big, she catches herself and gets a little self-conscious and shy and pulls back. Cute as a button. And then does the thing with her hair. Absolutely darling. My heart goes out to her and her family. I just lost my dad too. It sucks. Its also strange and scary. Her dad meant so much to so, so many. I'm as big of a parrot head as they get. He's what drew us all to this interview (outstanding job by the way, Mr Leslie), but I could sit entranced talking to her for hours and never bring up her dad once. Yep. She's the cutest, sexiest, and I bet a little bit of a dork, vision of beauty I've ever seen. I'm sorry, but I'm just smitten. And I mean all that in the most respectful and positive way possible. I bet life was good on your boat.🤙 Thanks for brightening my day.

If Delaney can write half as well as she can speak.....wow. She mentioned her ambitions as a storyteller. The best stories are the true ones. Would love to see her write her memior as a biography of her father with all the proper research, interviews etc. That would be a helluva story and perspective on his legacy.
Uhmm...like..Uhmm....like...you know...like...Uhmmm....I mean...
I can see that you maintain very lofty standards for eloquence..... "wow!"
She has her own story to Tell
Thank you for commenting on the interview!
Tom Petty music told me to go to Florida, Jimmy got me down to Key west! 💘💕🥰☮️
Thank you so much for really and truly listening. It means a lot. You're right ... Delaney is well-ground, articulate and I'd add big-hearted.
If it weren’t for Buffet I would never have bought my first sail boat ! Thanks Jimmy!
Its a shame he moved from Key West to Palm Beach. He should have kept a house in Key West for his fans.
What a beautiful, interesting, intelligent, young lady! Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad you liked it. Thank you.
Thank you both❤️I just saw Jimmy in concert Tuesday night in Cincinnati. He sang “Delaney talks to statues”💕bless you and keep telling your stories! It has been a pleasure getting to know you!!
Thank you so much for watching this Rosalie!
Wow, what a precious young lady! God gifted her with lovely grace! I love her! Reminds me of my dad and myself. We were very close.... Oh and he was a musician. A great trumpet player. Gone 31 years and I think of him everyday! God bless Delaney!
Thank you for commenting. I hope you like the interview!
I used to really like the song Delaney talks to statues. Jimmy's song about his daughter Delaney when she was little.
DELANEY MAKES ME SMILE
This should have been titled "Delaney Talks to Paul Leslie." ;-)
It was almost titled "Delaney Talks to Paulie." I like the way you think, Cal!
What a lovely comment Patricia! Thank you for writing.
I appreciate you watching the interview!
Natalie thanks for watching this and also for your very kind comment. I’m so pleased to have met Delaney Buffett. She’s a super neat lady.
This is so interesting! I appreciate Delaney’s candid interview & the video series really fleshes out her father’s career. So many of Buffett’s songs, particularly material from his first 6 albums, deserve an accompanying video… Delaney is surely best suited to direct such a project. RIP Jimmy.
@@edstein5642 Thank you for coming to listen to the interview!
It's so great you listened and thanks for the kind words in getting Delaney's story out there.
I have watch the video series and it is fantastic to hear Jimmy so down to earth
I'm a long-time Parrothead, but didn't know anything about Delaney Buffett until stumbling upon this interview. What an unexpected delight! She seems like a really cool person as well as very articulate and interesting. P.S. Delaney Talks to Statues is one of my favorite songs by her father. :)
She's cool, isn't she?
@@thepaulleslie Yes indeed. And, as she stated towards the end of the interview, you also asked some really good questions as well. Cheers.
I have two Buffetts I have respect for because of their “ smarts and work ethic.” Warren and Jimmy. I think there is another Buffett I need to pay attention to. What a wonderful interview. I enjoyed it. Delaney has a great future ahead of her. I just love documentaries.
I just watched your production lat night. I am so glad ypu put this together
Thanks for your comment Mr. Phinney. You'll want to watch this channel this weekend.
What a fabulous heritage he left to this lovely lady...
very, very well spoken and lovely person
R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett 🙏🌹
Sweet girl, great interview! Paul Leslie is very good as well. Thanks for sharing ;)
Thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the interview!

Thank you! 🫧
I always consider a song as a gift. I was familiar with each of these songs but this makes them a registered. So wonderful. Since his passing this series is a treasured gift. Thank you so much Delaney. You and your dad are both good storytellers. I know your dad was proud.
Thank you for the comment posted here.
What an amazing young woman you are, Delaney! Thank you for doing this interview! You make me have such wonderful memories of my Daddy! He borrowed quite a few of my Jimmy cds! He loved Son of a Son and Island!!! Again, God bless you and your family!💝👂🏼💖
I just found this interview. It is great, and you asked all the right questions. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m plowed you watched. Thanks again!
Ioof Barrie Ontario Seniors home. Thank you JAMES
What an Honor you bestowed as a daughter upon your Father .
Would live to see a book about growing up, with JB . Best seller I'm sure...
I agree. Especially if Delaney wrote it.
Delaney is accomplished in her own way. Her parents did a great job!❤ You can see Jimmy in her. I hope she will someday write a book about her Dad. 🙏 🫧
"I just took a break from social media" is the best time spent ever.
“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”― Friedrich Nietzsche
Fly away iconic Beatles, take another road out of town legendary vocalist Steve Perry and Journey, Jimmy Buffett, the chilled poetic, musical visionary may turn out to be the most popular singer/modern day Shakespearean lyrical storyteller in history.
Thanks for the very spirited comment! Be well!
@@spencerwinston4334 you’re extremely welcome!
Wow! Fantastic interview. Thoughtful questions and refreshingly candid and intelligent answers. Mr. Buffet must be exceedingly proud of his daughter.
Thank you so much Bradley for watching the episode and for the very kind comment. Delaney Buffett is a real good one!
Great to know, and very Thankful that both , T.P. and Capn Buffet have these fantastic children, daughter to curate and share the musical legacy of their Great artist Fathers. Thank Ladies!
What a beauty. Gosh she should be a movie star.
Just discovered your TH-cam channel! Wonderful! And please, a DVD!
Guess it's been awhile, but I love to hear songwriting back-stories.
Thank you for checking out the interview. I appreciate you.
Just discovered this 3 years after COVID but I was still enjoying JBs deep tracks and XM channel 24 on pandemic evenings.
Good, relevant questions with interesting, thoughtful and genuine answers. Great interview, Delaney and Paul.
Hi! Thank you. Most appreciated.
RIP, Jimmy
May his memory be a Blessing 🕊🎶
Thank you for the kind words.
Very nice interview I really enjoyed that thank you so much Take care and be safe
Great interview. I love her answer to the question at the 45 minute mark about fame.
Thank you for listening so intently. I appreciate it so much.
Thank you Delaney, your interviews with your dad are amazing. Would you be interested in doing a documentary about Jimmy as a family man and a business man? We know his persona I think. A I started interviewing my grandfather when he was older and now my parents you can create treasures for your family and teaching moments for his fans.
Do a volume 2! How many trips around the sun do you think I have left? 🤣💕🥰
I named my daughter after Delaney Buffet because I love the song and the name!
Great interview and definitely do a dvd, love.hearing what was going on with him when he wrote certain songs and recalling when I first heard them. Excellent job, thankyou !
Delaney seems like a genuine person. She’s so relaxed and approachable! I like her and don’t even know her!
She’s a very kind lady.
@@thepaulleslie Just like her father
@@Kyrie257 I think you’ll like the interview we’re dropping this weekend.
@@thepaulleslie I’m looking forward to it. I hope I’m less depressed by then so I can enjoy it more. I feel like I knew him. I cry every time I hear one of his songs!
We can never go fishing without Jimmy's music on the boat 😎 When we're not getting any bites we turn up the music and magically the grouper start biting! Many thanks to JB and his family for all the great grouper dinners we had because of his special kind of "magic" ! RIP 🙏 ❤
I hope you’ll catch a bunch of fish next time.
@@thepaulleslie Always! Jimmy will forever live on in the Gulf of Mexico 😎❤️🦜🦈
Love what you're doing. Thank you.
Great job both of you
Thank you Mr. Pappalarddo!
Hopefully they'll do some of the "Before the Beach" songs.
She does camera very well for someone who is uncomfortable with it. I can also see her dad's face in hers.
You have your father's smile 😃
Eyes too!
Thank you for this very heartfelt comment. I appreciate you writing it.
Wow she's awesome
I am so glad you liked the interview. A number of folks - men and women have commented about how pretty and charming she is. I’m sure she would be flattered!
Have a great day and keep good spirits!
