      Take a look at his politics……..

    • @KCFlyer2
      @KCFlyer2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      @@fluffyotter1601 you know...I'm a liberal so I tend to agree with him when it comes to Republicans, but I like his music. And even though I'm a liberal, I still enjoy a good chicken sandwich, and Chik Fil A is still the best, despite what my liberal friends tell me. And even though I'm a liberal, I liked Ellen Degeneres, even AFTER she went to a baseball game with GW Bush and my fellow liberals vilified her. You should stop worrying about politics in everything - life is so much better. He had these views the whole damn time you liked him, but when he spoke out about Trump, you give it up. Even if I was a die hard Republican, I'd pay to see a Jimmy Buffett concert over the chance to attend one of Trump's "ramblin rallies" for free. For years you've found enjoyment in his music, but you'll forfeit that happiness for Donald Trump.

      @jodycarrithers6160 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @KCFlyer2 I am in agreement with you regarding the fact that it shouldn't matter what a musician's politics are. If you like their music, who CARES what their politics are? And, the truth is, over 90% of all musicians are liberals. If I decided I wasn't going to listen to a musician's music because they were liberal, I'd have NO ONE to listen to. That being said, I completely, disagree with your bringing Donald Trump in the discussion. It did nothing to bolster your argument and, therefore, was 100% unnecessary. Seriously. I am convinced that nearly everyone on the left spend large portions of each and every day obsessing & raging over Donald Trump. It's truly peculiar to me. Bottom line, I agree with your overall point.

      Jimmy was soaking up his tears with that $30 million/year down at the end. You have to remember that music is like colors or flowers or aromas... what a person likes is perfect for them and it stops there. Jimmy Buffett's music produced a joy that was better shared than kept selfishly to one's self.

    My first experience seeing Jimmy Buffett was an early 70s show where he opened up for a pianist named Billy Joel in the Jacksonville University gym. During "God's Own Drunk" when he gets to the line "and that's when I first saw the bear" somebody in a bear suit ran out onstage. Jimmy was laughing so hard he stopped playing the song until he could compose himself. Buffett and Joel both hit it big a few years later. On a side note, I bought the A1A album solely for the cover without having heard a single note from it. That just looked like the perfect life.

    Lisa Davis
    In 1972 JB came to play at a coffee house in Bryn Mawr, PA and I found out and gathered about 20 friends from Bay Head, NJ to come up to see him. We were the only ones there. He hung out with us and after the show he agreed to go down to the shore and party with us. We followed his career and then when he started playing larger venues in Camden NJ he told the story of our meeting up at the Main Point. He always made a fuss over us and dedicated my favorite song... Come Monday. This man is a true gentleman and a talent so huge there is no way to describe. Our life was....before Jimmy and after Jimmy.

    It’s no surprise to me his biggest fan bases are in northern climates. I spent the first half of my life in the PNW and the gray skies and rain left me with seasonal affective disorder so bad it put me in the hospital 3 times until a sharp doctor figured out what was happening and told me I needed to move somewhere sunny. I credit Jimmy’s music for saving my life while I was so miserable. Now I live in Florida, living the “Floridays” dream, still singing along to every Buffett song ever written. Thanks for the music Jimmy! You have no idea how much it’s meant to me. 😎🏝️

      Lol. I chuckled about Fl. being your saving happy place. I mean, I’m glad for you but for me, both times I’ve been there, I couldn’t leave fast enough. Both of the vacations I took there (only there because of friends/family) I cut both of them short. I LOVE my Michigan seasons, the change in wardrobes and activities and especially how beautiful it is in northern MI. I just shake my head about all my customers (snowbirds) that go to Fl. in the winter. It’s funny how the things that make some ppl so happy make just as many miserable. Happy you found your place!

    I've been a Parrothead since the 70's. I was a professional mariner for about 4 decades after that, I've sailed the world around more than once. Jimmy Buffett sailed every inch of every mile with me, for about 4 decades. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten as long as I live. I saw another post recently about him spending his last hours with his siblings. My family is going through something like that now. I'm going to attach a picture at the end of this. My wife and I went on our 3rd date to one of his concerts in 1989. We"re still together and have 3 children. We've been to many of his concerts since. We will miss them. Our condolences go out to his family and all of the others that will miss him as we will. Our middle son is in rough shape, he's 30. I guess I can't attach a picture to this, but I understand what he and his family went through in the end. Fair Winds and Following Seas!

    I literally had every one of his albums - many times over - as I played them to death. Havana Daydreamin' is one that you'd NEVER get tired of, and I also LOVED Floridays, which is a bit different. He started a whole genre of music. Confirmed proud Parrot Head here! RIP my friend.

    I don't know how anyone could possibly dislike Jimmy's music. He was so unique, and his music captured the Florida beach attitude perfectly, to me, and obviously, for many others. I was raised in the Bahamas, and Florida, and the first time I heard steel drum in one his tunes back in the 70s I took notice and have been a parrothead ever since. I was shocked and sad when they said he went. His attitude and tunes will live on. RIP Jimmy 😢 🫡 Hope to see you again...

    Every time I here “Barefoot Children In The Rain” , I think of when my children were small and whenever it rained, they would be out in the street, barefoot and playing in the rain. That’s what makes Jimmy Buffet’s music so iconic. In every song, there is a story that somebody in some way can relate to. His Songs made people happy, his concerts made people happy, his personality made people happy. Jimmy is gone now, but his music and his stories will last forever. As a Mississippi boy, I am proud that Jimmy was one of us, I’m grateful that I literally grew up with his music, I’m happy that my children grew up to his music. I will always listen to his music until my time comes. Thank you, Jimmy for your life and talent, you will be missed.
