"From now on I shall always think of Mrs. Slocombe as dear UH UH." Classic! It sounds way better when they perform it later with her as an audience, someone should post that bit.
And at the end of the episode they reveal her full name is actually Mary Elizabeth Jennifer Rachel Abergavenny Slocombe. That would have ended up being 16 Uh's (not including the last name). But better known as "Betty" :) ... Happy Birthday dear Uh-uh Uh-uh-uh-uh Uh-uh-uh Uh-uh Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh.
There wss a Yiddle in there too because when they did the spin off series Mister Moltured kept calling her Rachel Yiddle. She deniged knowing him but I remembered that was part of her name. A nice call back.
This was one of the most brilliant and funny comedy scenes ever... Thank-you for posting! Needed a good laugh at this time with the craziness of the US post election news...
This scene always cracks me up! 😂😂 Even though there's a big inconsistency, as on an earlier episode, I clearly heard someone call Mrs. Slocombe "Betty", but this show was notorious for inconsistencies, so I can overlook it.
Well, Miss Brahms probably forgot (she’s not the brightest bulb), Mr Rumbold would have been in his office, and the Men’s Counter and Captain Peacock wouldn’t have given a crap to remember.
I remember the episode where they said her full name but in the other episodes they call her Betty......=) I know one thing for sure I love all the actors and actresses on the show and in many other sitcoms and movies and enjoy him to this day and I'll never forget them they'll always be in our families viewing watch much love to you all rest in peace dear Souls
I highly suggest to anyone that before they watch this scene to make sure you have a pair of Depends handy because you may need them. This scene is beyond hilarious!

I know I'm 6 years late, but Betty is short for Elizabeth.
Some of my favorite moments are when Mr Humphries says, "Do you mind if I have a word with my friend?"

That's funny.
Was Mr. Rumbold intentionally singing "Happy Birthday To You" off-key just to avoid any legal entanglements? 😅
