It's funny, these marvelous and talented actors made so many people happy. Of course in the UK, but also Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, and British Africa at the time.
Found it 20 years ago, I've seen each episode at least 10 or 12 times, and I STILL giggle out loud, having heard the punchline many times. It literally improves my mood/energy/ attitude each and every time.
Did a short cameo in the Three Musketeers w/Raquel Welch's charms sticking through a carriage window. It would have been perfect if you heard Ms. Slocombe exclaiming" Captain Peacock!!" As she had done in those days.
From their wikis and some other comments I've seen, Nicholas Smith was actually the better piano player, but they had Peacock play better than Rumbold a couple of times. RIP to all of them, their gift of comedy will be enjoyed for generations to come.
For those interested, Nicholas Smith has two videos of him playing the piano on YT. I think it was uploaded ca. the time of his death. Nicholas Smith is the channel's name.
My goodness! I thought acting was all, but this piano playing by Mr Rumbold, and Captain Peacock! Oh, those days were much the better. And with Mr Humphries moving lithely to the music. Certainly, there isn't can do any better than these lot.
Utter nonsense. I am sick and tired of this argument. There are just as many talented actors around today as there were then. This was a superb series with an outstanding cast, but that does not mean they were the only ones with these skillsets, then or now.
@kingy002 You really need to get out more. The "actors" today are poor , witless, and feel the need to expose their ignorance on all things political .
@@indiosveritas You really need to grow up. But keep digging, as I'm looking forward to you exposing yourself with more ignorant, poor, witless remarks.
Yikes, the Santa dummy... I can see how those got turned into Doctor Who antagonists. Though those didn't flash people, they just tried to shoot them with tubas.
They usually skipped this episode in the AYBS rotation on my PBS channel. So I wound up seeing this gem of an episode much later after I had already seen the episodes quite a few times. It was like finding a lost nugget of gold
Capt. Peacock and Mr. Rumbold really couldn't stand each other. Capt. Peacock always felt he was better and should have the position of upper management instead of Mr. Rumbold.
I’m not sure about that. I think peacock always felt Rumbold taunted his position a little too much… yet he actively promoted hierarchy with his staff on the floor. I always felt peacock took the management’s side more than the staffs’ side of things as well.
Quick quick step, to the left step 1 step 2 and turn yeah they were the funny lot. One if the best sitcomes ever. Actors today don't know how to act, let alone hold the level of actors in the 70s or 80s.. Nowadays every troll can act. Class left the Hollywood buildings
Capt. Peacock sitting down at that piano was both priceless.. And Hilarious. The Man!
It's funny, these marvelous and talented actors made so many people happy. Of course in the UK, but also Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, and British Africa at the time.
This was one of the best TV programs and the top of all situation comedies.
Thornton and the piano... I never would have known. Wow!
It had been mentioned that he bore a certain resemblance to David Niven.
Man, Frank and John dance well together...
Everyone was so talented
One of the best shows ever. Best actors/actresses as well.
Found it 20 years ago, I've seen each episode at least 10 or 12 times, and I STILL giggle out loud, having heard the punchline many times. It literally improves my mood/energy/ attitude each and every time.
amazes me how Mr Lukas survives each episode without being clobbered by Mrs Slocome he live a dangerous life for sure great show all round
The best of British comedy.....I love it.
Oh how I loved these people so entertaining
Youre cute Michael Dickens
To quote young Mr. Grace: "You've all done very well!"
(nearly collapses, while saying it)
Indeed....👍...infact, I keep waiting for Young Mr Grace to say thus line when he is on the scene👌
*all bow* Thank you, Mr. Grace
I always love that part 😂😅😊
I enjoy watching John Inman dance! RIP to them all!!!!!!!
Man, Captain Peacock walking up to the piano completely deadpan was beyond hilarious.
I have danced quite a few quicksteps in my time but I have never seen a fishtail performed like the one at 2:27!
Flawless ensemble cast.
The best show ever! It's so sad they are all gone now. RIP The entire cast of Are You Being Served?
Pretty sure Nicholas Smith "Mr Rumbold" is still with us.
He died back in 2015.
Mr. Spooner (a later addition to replace Mr. Lucas) is still alive.
@@markdunham9634 Some of the nurses and secretaries are as well, but I believe that's all we have left now.
Wendy is still alive I think!
How on earth did they keep straight faces?! I'm crying from laughing!
I enjoy watching John Inman dance! RIP to them all!!!!!!! 💙
Frank Thornton passed today. A great talent - including on piano. A sad day.
Did a short cameo in the Three Musketeers w/Raquel Welch's charms sticking through a carriage window. It would have been perfect if you heard Ms. Slocombe exclaiming" Captain Peacock!!" As she had done in those days.
Or alternatively, "Week as water! Week as water!!"
Talk about two best bits! The first time I paid attention to the title ever.
The Best Show Ever
Classic comedy. Love it so much!!!
Always love when Peacock shows up Rumbold.
From their wikis and some other comments I've seen, Nicholas Smith was actually the better piano player, but they had Peacock play better than Rumbold a couple of times. RIP to all of them, their gift of comedy will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Read Nicholas could play several instruments. I do not know who was better, but I do get the feeling it was Nicholas.
Brilliant John Inman at his best
What a talented bunch. I love Mr. Granger,he is so cute
Yes, but Mr Tebbs was Teddy Rosevelt HOT!!
“Glass of water for Mr. Granger, Mr. Lucas. “
One of my favorite shows.
So much comic talent elevating such slight material. God they are funny.
Those were hysterical!
I so Love this show!
For those interested, Nicholas Smith has two videos of him playing the piano on YT.

And played superbly here, too.
My goodness! I thought acting was all, but this piano playing by Mr Rumbold, and Captain Peacock! Oh, those days were much the better. And with Mr Humphries moving lithely to the music. Certainly, there isn't can do any better than these lot.
Fond memories of watching with my grandparents in Thames new Zealand
Ooh! That last one was hilarious 😂
Another great old British comedy. Loved them!!!
I just wish such scripts are written and such actors are born again
love the british so 👍
favorite episode...great lines...great comedy...
Hysterical show
I love this show it's awesome and it makes me laugh
3:08 hold my beer
That was the best 2 finger salute to Rumbold when Peacock played the piano
Those were the days when actors knew how to sing, dance and play the piano.
Not to mention acting.
The last part 😂😂😂
Two actors that both play for real.
THE VERY BEST BEST COMEDY
I love old Britcoms
That Santa made me lmao.
heartfanjim01
Agreed
The whole clip, I was in stitches!
Talent from all that would put modern stage actors to shame.
Utter nonsense. I am sick and tired of this argument. There are just as many talented actors around today as there were then. This was a superb series with an outstanding cast, but that does not mean they were the only ones with these skillsets, then or now.

Made 2 Measure - All about the fitting
A good suit is timeless
Any one else noticed my Humphreys is wearing heels?
I haven't seen several of those episodes. I wonder why they aren't on You Tube.
Copyright issues, I reckon.
Ho Ho Ho Boys, have i got a surprise for you!! LMAO

3:28 - 3:39
You just got served!
Great !
@recniterockerchick Well said! I LOVE that bit - it's the main reason I uploaded this piece!
Watching 30years now 😂
Simple humour but made me laugh...
There's something about two very fine, well dressed men dancing that just seems right...
Amen!!!
lol
Where's the rest of the episode?
Yikes, the Santa dummy... I can see how those got turned into Doctor Who antagonists. Though those didn't flash people, they just tried to shoot them with tubas.
Has anyone noticed what Beautifully shaped legs Mrs. Slocum has..??!
I adord this show💖💖
She looks quite smart in German Week
What episode is the first part from?
I thought I had seen them all but omg this was hilarious
I want to watch the whole episode
S4 E2 Top Hat and Tails
They usually skipped this episode in the AYBS rotation on my PBS channel. So I wound up seeing this gem of an episode much later after I had already seen the episodes quite a few times. It was like finding a lost nugget of gold
@@dudehere340 thank you!!!
Which episode?
Why the quick step from learning to dance, to the Christmas surprise ?
Those were just two funny bits the poster wanted to show…
It's just like Call Me By Your Name 👋🏻
Nothing like it at all.
Does anyone know the name of the song they play in this clip?
"These Foolish Things"
