The first Uncharted felt clunky during combat (constantly stuck on cover, hold for accuracy aiming and refusing to grab ledges), I couldn't make it past the first hour and never played any more. Tomb Raider controls and mechanics are much better IMO. Then again I hate cover-based shooters.
Easy choice for me. Uncharted, hands down. I'm so invested in the uncharted characters man haha. Tomb raider is also very very good, though Nathan drake is such a good character. Imo, Nathan drake is one of the best video game characters ever. He's just so likable. Lara Croft is cool tho
MoistTowelette last night was the first time I ever played uncharted, I love tomb raider, I think that tomb raider has a better way of telling stories it makes it more intriguing, more mystical I'm still not sure what uncharted is about, but I already know I'm going to love the game.
I played the old TR games, as a kid, and started again with, RoTR - i really liked it, it was fun, i cared for Lara... then played uncharted series - loved it, when SoTR came out, played that as well, but just after finishing uncharted. Now i am not a pro player, it takes me a few weeks to have the time to play, but coming from uncharted, SoTR was too easy- i play games on normal... but it was so easy, that the last boss glitched into the wall from Lara's melee attack, i raised the difficulty level but all that does is make you have to remember the sequence of weapons you have to change, hide, heal, craft, that's it, you have to do the same thing, or die. And I stopped caring for Lara, she was a badass, but i didn't care any more for an invincible character. I would replay the RoTR though, and of course Uncharted
@@Jack_80 Its the best one by far bro, big ass maps, great ambientation, really good combat, the parkour is so much better than in the previous games, the puzzles were actually hard and it had a lot of rpg shit that made the gameplay so much deeper
@@TripleZetta i played through it and was bored the entire time. the story and gameplay kept me hooked in the first 2 but 3 just wasn't fun at all. also lara looked terrible compared to the first 2, it looked like her face was made out of plastic or something, not realistic at all, which was strange because she had a very realistic look in the first game that released years earlier. she seriously looked so bad that every in every cutscene her fake look broke any immersion, not that the terrible story would have immersed me much anyhow.

The open environments and exploration are done far better in Tomb Raider the story and gameplay is far better done in uncharted. My biggest wish in uncharted is that the enemies would run out of ammo just like the player. I mean it’s quite annoying being stuck on a ledge on crushing with an enemy constantly throwing infinite amount of grenades at you.
With the combat at least, I feel like it's down to personal preference. Would you rather feel like a person who is ready for any situation (Tomb Raider) or a person who can get out of any situation (Uncharted)? Using movie terms, I'd guess it's "Would you rather be Rambo or Indiana Jones?"
For me it’s Uncharted all the way. Drake is a much better character, all the characters are better and more fleshed out, the stories are better for the most part, and the set pieces are so much better. I know I’m biased as all hell but whatever

you are right on all your points, but you forget one major point. Gameplay wise Tomb raider is leaps ahead of Uncharted, and it's a game. I do enjoy uncharted story more though.
uncharted 4 is my favorite game this gen seriously. after i played uncharted 4 i played the nathan drake collection and then the tomb raider triology and the tomb raider trilogy just didn't compare. uncharted blows those games out of the water in every aspect. naughty dog is on a whole new level not many can match. they're up there with rockstar and CD Projekt red

@@hammerite6418 uncharted gameplay is better. In tomb raider, it's either stealth or sitting behind a cover, because you can only aim down sights. In uncharted, you can do both of those too, but you can also grapple, slide hip aim, jump from the high ground and punch someone. Uncharted also has more weapons. They are pretty similar in gameplay, but uncharted has more variety

I like both series because they are really good games with good stories, but Uncharted still blows Tomb Raider out of the water in every aspect. Crystal Dynamic has nothing on Naughty Dog.
Tomb Raider (the new ones): Lackluster and repetitive. They stray too far from what made the original Tomb Raider games great. Uncharted 4: Immersive and completely entertaining. It was the perfect ending and stayed true to the last three games. At least in my opinion.
Uncharted 4 wasn't that good comparing it to the other uncharted games it felt like naughty dog were mainly jerking themselves off. Less gun fights/the fist fighting was downgraded from number 3 and the moral of the story was basically just copy and paste from number 3 where nate realises his obsession could lead to a grim end but I don't feel like Neil druckman really knew who to give that story too out of nate and Sam given nate had already been given that story so I don't feel like he didn't do anything new most of the time there were lot's of call backs and tributes to the other uncharted games that I found myself remembering them while uncharted 4 wasn't really giving anything to remember, and out of all the crazy and epic shit you do in the first 3, uncharted 4 didn't have any real epic moment's to make me forgive the reduce of shootouts which was one of the key elements to the franchise
What give Uncharted it’s biggest strength is it’s number of games. While the first game was decent, Among Thieves to A Thief’s End are just masterpieces. Only having 4 games and not a single one is bad really helps it’s case. Also the story is all tied together and is cohesive from start to finish.
I liked tomb raider much better. I enjoy the weapon upgrade system and it being more focused on mastering your stable of weapons, instead of randomly whatever is in the world. Also I don't like the goofy vibe of Natan, much prefer the more dark and adult story of Tomb Raider.
I'm a massive fan of these kinds of 'Indiana Jones' adventure themes. Though I feel bad that Uncharted is made by Naughty Dog..... seen what they have been up to in the past 4-5 years (Neil Druckmann failing upwards, the Anita Sarkeesian simping, 70% of developers left over 'creative differences', LGBQT department, TLOU2) it's highly doubtful Naughty Dog will produce anything of significance anymore.
i remember in i think uncharted 2, where you match the symbols up with the animal things, wind, fire, that stuff. and for whatever reason, i got stuck thinking that blue was the essence of water, and needed to actually check the book and see what i did wrong. could be me, but that was sort of difficult if you don't pay attention to things, like me.
The Ai is brain dead in tomb raider. The gameplay is better in uncharted. Uncharted is linear while tomb raider is a far more open linear game. I'd say the story is better in tomb raider though. However uncharted characters are far more likable. Lara croft feels more human then Nathan Drake she has weaknesses and feels like a more grounded character while Nathan feels like a terminator with no fears or weakness. The graphics are better in uncharted imo. Tomb raiders rpg like systems make for a deeper experience and it's more immersive. Personally I really enjoy both I would not say one is better then the other. They are both great games. If I had to choose though and this is a tough choice I'd say tomb raider is better.
I like Uncharted, but I really struggle to replay it. I have replayed TR 2013 and Rise at least 5 times now. I also find Tomb Raider is way better to play through again on higher difficulties. I just cant get myself to replay any of the Uncharted games again, if I do, I don't get far or I just replay the car chase scene from Uncharted 4 for a quick fix, or just watch the cutscenes again on youtube. Even though I agree that Uncharted is way slicker then TR. I think 2013/Rise overall pacing throughout its runtime makes it a better game. Going from stealth, to mid fight crafting, to full on gunfight while trying to conserve ammo on hard difficulty is way funner then hiding in cover not being able to use Nathans full movement on Uncharteds Hard/Brutal difficulty. I also found the supernatural side of Tomb Raider and its world in general much more interesting then Uncharted.
I actually really liked Camilla Luddington's take on the character, even though it was a bit hammy and theatrical, i thought this is what they needed to do to sell the act with their rigging and animation, which are obviously lower budget. Though i don't disagree with your suggestion of Elodie Yung. I also didn't read the storytelling quite the same way, it was plausible enough for me that Lara would believe that her father committed suicide, because regardless of what she saw, this is what she heard her whole life and semi-convinced herself of, with just a little bit of doubt, even though what is shown to us is not a suicide scene but a murder scene. I think the way they intended this is that the player likely won't overanalyse the cutscene on their first run and accept it as a possible suicide scenario, while leaving the possibility open that RJ Croft been murdered, but the second time he plays, when he knows for certain that Croft was murdered, he will see it confirmed, this way it should feel less cheated. This all together with monumental payoff at the end really made the storytelling for me. The game feels just awesome to me. I wonder though, what would you think of Nathan Fillion playing Nathan Drake? :D I wonder whether he'd ruin it.
I think you are unfairly nitpicky towards Tomb Raider rather than giving a balanced comparison. Camilla was great as Croft btw. I still like Uncharted better but yea... especially when it came to story, this wasn't a nonbiased comparison
He can shoot while jumping, while on the ledge etc. and lara can't which makes the gameplay of both games different, there maybe climbing, but there are lots of differences. No idea why ppl say both are copying each other.
As a fan whos played Tomb Raider since its original release on the PS1, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune on the PS3 and their sequals. I have to say that both of them are perfect.

Rise is best played in stealth mode.. Uncharted, in all out gun-play mode.. I like the progression in Rise.. In Uncharted, you cant even upgrade anything, you just pick a damn weapon and shoot, yes the characters are fun and humorous, but Rise is better in some aspects as well.. I dont know what triggered you to hate this much on Rise but these 2 games are really good and theres no need to say bad things about the other to make the other one look better.. You're obviously an uncharted fanatic and you hate it when people don't agree with your preference, hence, using another youtuber's video to insult him and saying "he lost his credibility".. Again, it's just preference, if he preferred tomb raider then let him be, if you prefer Uncharted then we let you be.. Haven't watched part 2 yet but my main gripe with uncharted 4 was the lack of "mythical" enemy. The others had the zombie creatures or steroid Aztecs. I missed that in 4. Anyway I like both tomb raider and uncharted but I'd lean towards the latter as better.
Uncharted 1 is bullet sponge jank with poor climbing mechanics Uncharted 2 is a bit less spongy, but still with awkward climbing, and now terrible stealth mechanics Uncharted 3 - basically repeat Uncharted 4 is definitely the best of them, but it took them 4 games (not including spin-offs) and an entirely different generation to get there. In my opinion, Tomb Raider 1 > the original 3 Uncharted games Rise of the Tomb Raider did virtually everything better than the original, and I'd say Uncharted 4 is on about the same quality level. Once you get past comparing climbing mechanics, gunplay, and AI, which both games had down at this point, they're hard to compare. TR is a lot more open and exploration focused, while Uncharted is a more linear, rollercoaster experience.
@@magicmamba915 The first Uncharted's AI would just dip in and out of the same piece of cover, or B line for you with no rhyme or reason. I'm not saying TR's AI was drastically more complicated than that, but it was definitely more competent.

It just gets down to what your looking for in the game, me personally am not looking for combat, I dont want a fps, I want a historically lost city to explore and solve historic puzzles. Also tomb raider is more immersive I mean yeah she jumps higher and survives some falls and stuff but what you see in uncharted is completely gamified I mean nobody can do those stuff. I even think the reason why lara cant just jump then grapple then swing then jump grab some stuff then climb then grapple again in mid air is becuz they are trying for it to be more realistic. So when I want this I play tomb raider. And when Im feeling I just want big moment after big moment and I want exhilarating gameplay like a spider man Indiana jones who kills people like neo in matrix grabbing guns from all over the place and shooting when flying in the air I play uncharted.
also one two things for combat in uncharted and tomb raider you said that you have to move around all the time yes also some covers can be destructible which is good so you have to force yourself to move in tomb raider you can just camp somewhere (i have played both games) the AI is so bad like you said but still uncharted get's a point no matter
Honestly I think it's more interesting to compare the first reboot (legend, anniversary, underworld) to uncharted, against rise of the tomb raider uncharted 4 takes the cake easily
So you kind of hit the nail on the head pretty much that I will put in the nutshell. In one game you are Rambo and in one game you're more like Indiana Jones. That's why both games appeal to different audiences I guess, But if you erase all my other grievances about the uncharted game there's one that still stands. How the gameplay feels in movement and the camera movement. It's like they have camera acceleration on high and then also add a bit of in-game motion blur that can't be turned off even though you turn it off in settings. It just feels completely unresponsive compared to the tomb raider games. I play on PC and the difference is undeniable.

wow the guy who preffers tomb raider sounds like such a fanboy, jesus christ...people like that shouldnt be allowed to compare lol , I grew up with Tomb Raider but Uncharted has the lead mostly cause of characterization, with just 4 games you already care for the characters way more than the ones of Tomb Raider which rarely ever have any weight besides Lara. Tomb Raider had to pick tons of Uncharted gameplay to catch up with the age, and that might be prove enough, right now Im playing shadow of the Tomb raider with all DLCs, and even with such an improvement of graphics, a quality difference is still there.
I prefer Tomb Raider personally, because of Lara Croft. I prefer playing as a female character. Uncharted is a great series with great characters, but it comes in second place for me.
As an old TR player, to me Uncharted is evolution and the TR reboots are mimicry. Also the actress in the new Tomb Raider is obnoxious and that cry baby character has nothing to do with Lara Croft as we knew her.

Tomb raider inspired uncharted even though the developers haven't said it themselves I noticed it when I first saw uncharted at 12 so for me myself it will always be the best personally. But the gameplay is amazing compared to tomb raider honestly though. Come on y'all even me as a long time gamer with the acknowledgment in my comment know that Uncharted was deeply detailed.
Things that uncharted is better at: Story telling (way better actually), both types of combat styles shooting and hand to hand. I love Tomb Raider and have done so since the first game on PS1, and I wouldn't touch an Uncharted game with a 10ft pole, however even I could always tell that Uncharted is the better game in a broader sense. The open environments and exploration are done far better in Tomb Raider the story and gameplay is far better done in uncharted. My biggest wish in uncharted is that the enemies would run out of ammo just like the player. I mean it’s quite annoying being stuck on a ledge on crushing with an enemy constantly throwing infinite amount of grenades at you.
With the combat at least, I feel like it's down to personal preference. Would you rather feel like a person who is ready for any situation (Tomb Raider) or a person who can get out of any situation (Uncharted)?

For me it’s Uncharted all the way. Drake is a much better character, all the characters are better and more fleshed out, the stories are better for the most part, and the set pieces are so much better. I know I’m biased as all hell but whatever

uncharted 4 is my favorite game this gen seriously. after i played uncharted 4 i played the nathan drake collection and then the tomb raider triology and the tomb raider trilogy just didn't compare. uncharted blows those games out of the water in every aspect. naughty dog is on a whole new level not many can match. they're up there with rockstar and CD Projekt red

In uncharted, you can do both of those too, but you can also grapple, slide hip aim, jump from the high ground and punch someone. Uncharted also has more weapons. They are pretty similar in gameplay, but uncharted has more variety

I like both series because they are really good games with good stories, but Uncharted still blows Tomb Raider out of the water in every aspect. Crystal Dynamic has nothing on Naughty Dog.
Tomb Raider (the new ones): Lackluster and repetitive. They stray too far from what made the original Tomb Raider games great.
Uncharted 4: Immersive and completely entertaining. It was the perfect ending and stayed true to the last three games.

The old Tomb Raiders were like uncharted, they also had that grapple and hook mechanic (I mean the PS2 chapters, not the old clunky PS1 ones).
Uncharted 4 wasn't that good comparing it to the other uncharted games it felt like naughty dog were mainly jerking themselves off. Less gun fights/the fist fighting was downgraded from number 3 and the moral of the story was basically just copy and paste from number 3 where nate realises his obsession could lead to a grim end but I don't feel like Neil druckman really knew who to give that story too out of nate and Sam given nate had already been given that story so I don't feel like he didn't do anything new most of the time there were lot's of call backs and tributes to the other uncharted games that I found myself remembering them while uncharted 4 wasn't really giving anything to remember, and out of all the crazy and epic shit you do in the first 3, uncharted 4 didn't have any real epic moment's to make me forgive the reduce of shootouts which was one of the key elements to the franchise
What give Uncharted it’s biggest strength is it’s number of games. While the first game was decent, Among Thieves to A Thief’s End are just masterpieces. Only having 4 games and not a single one is bad really helps it’s case. Also the story is all tied together and is cohesive from start to finish.

I liked tomb raider much better. I enjoy the weapon upgrade system and it being more focused on mastering your stable of weapons, instead of randomly whatever is in the world. Also I don't like the goofy vibe of Natan, much prefer the more dark and adult story of Tomb Raider.
I'm a massive fan of these kinds of 'Indiana Jones' adventure themes. Though I feel bad that Uncharted is made by Naughty Dog..... seen what they have been up to in the past 4-5 years (Neil Druckmann failing upwards, the Anita Sarkeesian simping, 70% of developers left over 'creative differences', LGBQT department, TLOU2) it's highly doubtful Naughty Dog will produce anything of significance anymore.
Tomb Raider's story never grabbed me the same way Uncharted did.

i remember in i think uncharted 2, where you match the symbols up with the animal things, wind, fire, that stuff. and for whatever reason, i got stuck thinking that blue was the essence of water, and needed to actually check the book and see what i did wrong. could be me, but that was sort of difficult if you don't pay attention to things, like me.
The Ai is brain dead in tomb raider. The gameplay is better in uncharted. Uncharted is linear while tomb raider is a far more open linear game. I'd say the story is better in tomb raider though. However uncharted characters are far more likable. Lara croft feels more human then Nathan Drake she has weaknesses and feels like a more grounded character while Nathan feels like a terminator with no fears or weakness. The graphics are better in uncharted imo. Tomb raiders rpg like systems make for a deeper experience and it's more immersive. Personally I really enjoy both I would not say one is better then the other. They are both great games. If I had to choose though and this is a tough choice I'd say tomb raider is better.

I like Uncharted, but I really struggle to replay it. I have replayed TR 2013 and Rise at least 5 times now. I also find Tomb Raider is way better to play through again on higher difficulties. I just cant get myself to replay any of the Uncharted games again, if I do, I don't get far or I just replay the car chase scene from Uncharted 4 for a quick fix, or just watch the cutscenes again on youtube. Even though I agree that Uncharted is way slicker then TR. I think 2013/Rise overall pacing throughout its runtime makes it a better game. Going from stealth, to mid fight crafting, to full on gunfight while trying to conserve ammo on hard difficulty is way funner then hiding in cover not being able to use Nathans full movement on Uncharteds Hard/Brutal difficulty. I also found the supernatural side of Tomb Raider and its world in general much more interesting then Uncharted.

I actually really liked Camilla Luddington's take on the character, even though it was a bit hammy and theatrical, i thought this is what they needed to do to sell the act with their rigging and animation, which are obviously lower budget. Though i don't disagree with your suggestion of Elodie Yung.
I also didn't read the storytelling quite the same way, it was plausible enough for me that Lara would believe that her father committed suicide, because regardless of what she saw, this is what she heard her whole life and semi-convinced herself of, with just a little bit of doubt, even though what is shown to us is not a suicide scene but a murder scene. I think the way they intended this is that the player likely won't overanalyse the cutscene on their first run and accept it as a possible suicide scenario, while leaving the possibility open that RJ Croft been murdered, but the second time he plays, when he knows for certain that Croft was murdered, he will see it confirmed, this way it should feel less cheated.
This all together with monumental payoff at the end really made the storytelling for me. The game feels just awesome to me.

I think you are unfairly nitpicky towards Tomb Raider rather than giving a balanced comparison. Camilla was great as Croft btw. I still like Uncharted better but yea... especially when it came to story, this wasn't a nonbiased comparison

I like the progression in Rise.. In Uncharted, you cant even upgrade anything, you just pick a damn weapon and shoot, yes the characters are fun and humorous, but Rise is better in some aspects as well.. I dont know what triggered you to hate this much on Rise but these 2 games are really good and theres no need to say bad things about the other to make the other one look better.. You're obviously an uncharted fanatic and you hate it when people don't agree with your preference, hence, using another youtuber's video to insult him and saying "he lost his credibility".. Haven't watched part 2 yet but my main gripe with uncharted 4 was the lack of "mythical" enemy. The others had the zombie creatures or steroid Aztecs. I missed that in 4. Anyway I like both tomb raider and uncharted but I'd lean towards the latter as better.
Uncharted 1 is bullet sponge jank with poor climbing mechanics
Uncharted 2 is a bit less spongy, but still with awkward climbing, and now terrible stealth mechanics
Uncharted 3 - basically repeat
Uncharted 4 is definitely the best of them, but it took them 4 games (not including spin-offs) and an entirely different generation to get there.
In my opinion, Tomb Raider 1 > the original 3 Uncharted games
Rise of the Tomb Raider did virtually everything better than the original, and I'd say Uncharted 4 is on about the same quality level. Once you get past comparing climbing mechanics, gunplay, and AI, which both games had down at this point, they're hard to compare. TR is a lot more open and exploration focused, while Uncharted is a more linear, rollercoaster experience.

It just gets down to what your looking for in the game, me personally am not looking for combat, I dont want a fps, I want a historically lost city to explore and solve historic puzzles. Also tomb raider is more immersive I mean yeah she jumps higher and survives some falls and stuff but what you see in uncharted is completely gamified I mean nobody can do those stuff. I even think the reason why lara cant just jump then grapple then swing then jump grab some stuff then climb then grapple again in mid air is becuz they are trying for it to be more realistic. So when I want this I play tomb raider. And when Im feeling I just want big moment after big moment and I want exhilarating gameplay like a spider man Indiana jones who kills people like neo in matrix grabbing guns from all over the place and shooting when flying in the air I play uncharted.
also one two things for combat in uncharted and tomb raider you said that you have to move around all the time yes also some covers can be destructible which is good so you have to force yourself to move in tomb raider you can just camp somewhere (i have played both games) the AI is so bad like you said but still uncharted get's a point no matter

That's why both games appeal to different audiences I guess, But if you erase all my other grievances about the uncharted game there's one that still stands.
How the gameplay feels in movement and the camera movement. It's like they have camera acceleration on high and then also add a bit of in-game motion blur that can't be turned off even though you turn it off in settings. It just feels completely unresponsive compared to the tomb raider games. I play on PC and the difference is undeniable.

Tomb raider inspired uncharted even though the developers haven't said it themselves I noticed it when I first saw uncharted at 12 so for me myself it will always be the best personally. But the gameplay is amazing compared to tomb raider honestly though. Come on y'all even me as a long time gamer with the acknowledgment in my comment know that Uncharted was deeply detailed.
Things that uncharted is better at: Story telling (way better actually), both types of combat styles shooting and hand to hand.
