you can change clocks in wattman just fine. The only thing that is worth messing with in the soft power play tables is the power limits. Changing the mem voltage doesn't do anything and changing Vcore beyond what Wattman allows doesn't really work. I might mess with it a bit to see if it has any useful functionality but I really doubt it.
UPDATE : March 2019. For this method to work on the newest versions of Atiflash(2.87) you need to change "Atiflash" in the batch file into "amdvbflash" for it to work. I tried using first the win program but got a mismatch error. By making the change I mentioned before it flashed without problems. Thanks for the guide Buildzoid!!
Thanks man, that is what I was about to write about the use of the flash via script. I am going for it. edit: I am done. That was easy, works like a charm with the .bat code above! Thanks man.
Thank you very much for this video. I was able to bring to life my brand new XFX 5700 XT with dual BIOS, after she died while l‘ve tried to flash a new BIOS.
Many thanks for this video. Allowed me to flash the BIOS on my XFX RX 590 to a Powercolor model. After a week of struggling with Opencore. All that was needed was a quick flash of the GPU BIOS and suddenly the the job's a flier. Nice straightforward video, cheers.
I remember flashing my gtx 465's to 470 bios since the cards had the extra memory chips that were just disabled.. No bios switch back then , had to flash with no display output using pictures of what to type step by step and hope for the best lol
Thank you for the video. I was having insane crashing problems with my MSI RX 580 8gb gpu when gaming. I tried everything else, but nothing worked. So I resorted to flashing the bios. I was sweating bullets doing the process, but in the end it worked! I had no extra gpu if i f'd up. But hey, I got it and it works for now.
You can try using the atiflash -unlockrom command to remove write-protection. And -lockrom to enable write-protection. It usually doesn't do any good. I've no idea why on that. But you can always try it and see. About the size of the BIOS roms, there's padding that's been added to the end of the files(unused bits/bytes in the form of long strings of hex FFs) to make them nice rounded sizes(ie 64, 128, 256, 512 etc.). Actual stock BIOS roms are rarely(if ever) exactly those sizes. It's when you dump the BIOS with GPU-Z or atiflash that the padding bytes are added to the end to make the nice rounded file sizes you see. So to say that if they aren't that size says something about the file being an actual GPU BIOS or not is incorrect. If you get GPU BIOS rom files from manufacturers they will, more often than not, not be one of those neat sizes. Those sizes correspond to the maximum size that can be stored on the EEPROM chip. Though there is no real need to fill the EEPROM completely for the BIOS to work. You can actually remove most(all technically) of the padding and still have it work(all of which is not always just at the end either, there's some between the legacy and UEFI sections in a hybrid BIOS). You can mess up your CRC and/or checksum if you remove the padding from between the legacy and UEFI/GOP sections. Which can cause UEFI GOP boot to not work(even if you fix the CRC and/or checksum). Other than that though, it will still be fully functional. Try it if you don't believe me.
i'm curious what does -unlockrom setting do on a laptop that has videobios contained within system bios image? could it be that it unlocks WP of a system bios chip or only sets certain register that is unused in this case?
if you bricked a single bios card: its possible to reflash via using a second GPU for bootup. and Displayoutput. ATIFlash can flash to secondary GPUs too, if you supply the correct ID to it.
So you are telling me I could have used just used the switch when the system is live all the time... I tried the DOS method which does not work for new card wtf
I'm pretty sure the operating system is using the 2nd bios, and then when you switch, then the 1st bios is assigned to writing, and you can flash over. Notice how when he had the switch on the read only he could not flash the card.
Im trying to flash modded bios on my r9 380. Its not really too much modded just raised the power limit. But im getting amdvbflash is not recognized as an internal or external command
Hey bud when are you going to do another stream man! We need our fix!, and we need to know all your Trix for Vega! Oh and what do you think about this hotspot talk about Vega?
Last friday i bought a Sapphire Pulse Vega 56, this one has 3 display ports and 1 HDMI. In order to obtain vega64 performance and unlock higher voltages in samsung HBM, i flashed the Sapphire Nitro+ Vega64 bios. Everything ok, the card bootup nice and smooth. The problem is, the Sapphire Nitro+ card has 2 display ports and 2 HDMI, so i noticed that my 3rd Display port is dead with this bios ( it makes sense ). So i tried to flash the stock bios ( i've made a backup with gpu-z ) and problems starts here. i repeat the same procedure, CMD in admin mode // atiflash.exe -unlockrom 0 // atiflash.exe -p 0 -f bios.rom, atiflash gives me following error: ( write passed 80000/8000, write verified 2/80000 fail, error 01FL1 ) no mather wich bios i tried to flash i allways get this error! do i need the 1+8 pin method ? thanks in advanced
hi im trying to fix my external gpu (r9 280x vapor-x) it doesnt give me a display signal, anyway im trying to update the bios of the gpu, curently im using the intergrated graphics of my pc, i followed your guide backed up my bios, but i have a question, might be stupid question, but before i go ahead and flash the bios i want to be sure, how do i know i backed up and going to flash the bios of my external card (r9 280x) and not my intergrated graphic card (i dont even know if this is posible or not, just want to make sure i wont screw up)
Thank you for the tutorial about how to flash and backup bios! I have a Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury. It has dual bios- First bios 260W TDP and Second bios is 300W TDP. It's a button instead of slider. But still the same thing as slider, right? This tutorial can be done on R9 Fury too?
hi there... I have the sapphire R9 280X VaporX card, however all the fans and lights light up but no display.... it is also a dual bios card UEFI and standard, but all the things you have in Atiflash in your version I don't have as I have the newer version to Atiflash.. how can I try to flash my card in the same method as what you did? do I need my UEFI active which is a blue S light that lights up or off?
Hey dude. I was just thinking. Does a vega 64 flashed to a vega 56 preform like a 56 or will it work better? Then how much can you overclock it? Also if you cant flash a modded bios to the card. Why is it AMD gives you the option to flah another bios? hhhmmmm???
Has anyone successfully flashed an AIB vega 56 to 64? I tried with my PowerColor Red Dragon and it just go bricked so now I'm on the other bios and I'm not able to reflash it...
Good Morning ! I'm from Brazil and I'm using google translator sorry if I have any grammar errors. I am in need of your help. I have an RX 580 with dual bios. I have the first bios OC damaged the second one works perfectly. The question is can i change the bios key with the pc on to restore the original bios or do i have to use another computer with vga on board ?
Does this work with Nvidia cards? I have a Gigabyte rtx 3070 gaming oc and my bios update went wrong while I was on silent bios. Now the card doesnt give any display output whilst on silent bios. Performance bios works just fine. Can I just flash the original silent bios after booting at performance bios and hitting the dual bios switch?
How about Vega 56 cards with Hynix HBM, where the Vega 64 edition of the same card only comes with Samsung HBM - is it possible to make a BIOS flash work here?
I think my second bios was dead since i got the card. Because i tested it once and did not work i followed this tutorial and still the second bios does not work at all. I flashed the bios but still its poop
Is it possible to rewrite the first bios using the same video card or do I have to install another gpu to give video and thus try to access the gpu with the corrupted bios to make the rewrite? thanks !
I bricked both my vega 64 bioses, can somebody help me step by step to fix it, I have other working nvidia gpu installed but windows did some windows update and it doesn't even let me boot to windows anymore
Hey man. I think you're the only one that can save me. I got a used Vega 56 that behaves just like yours when you intentionally bricked but on BOTH BIOS positions. Any chance I can still save it?
Well i have atiwinflash 2.9.3 there is no Flashbios.bat in folder. But yeah i can use exe.. Anyway i did everything u did except in Exe i flashed the stock rom on my secound bios which i broke. And still the same card is dead.. haha It says bios is alrdy flashed when i try again and it says it succes .. Hmm anyhelp ?
hello,i have an R9 280 sapphire with the dual UEFI and Legacy OS BIOS ..and i have flashed on the good BIOS on DOS mode with an USB device, and now it doesn’t work in any mode.. please can you help me to fix my mess?i end up with my windows dont starting in any bios mode ...please help me 🙏🙏🙏
Do you know a vega 64 bios that would work with saphires pulse vega 56 with the nano pcb ? I have tried many bioses but all says subsystem id mismatch and stops cancels itself.
I use ATFlash, I actually experimented with flashing random bios on an RX460, it never bricked. Most importantly restoring the original bios, just as easy.
Not, it is not. As you can see he is obviously using atiflash in the .bat and not atiwinflash. And today it is not even called atiflash, but amdvbflash.
is it ok to save it via the atiflash? that's how i've done it when i BIOS modded my rx 480 can u also make a vid with unbricking a card with only one BIOS ? :D
you just need another gpu to boot the system, it can even be the igpu, when in windows follow the same process for flashing the card (just make sure you flash the right one )
Heya I know this might be kinda irrelevant to this video but I need some help.. I want to buy a PSU but I live in Iran and here the usual known brands are really expensive. We have a brand that's been known for its PSU and Cases called "Green". Their budget and lower-end PSUs are made by Channel Well Technology Co. and their better PSUs are made by High Power Electric Co., Ltd. I really don't know much about these OEM companies. They have recently released 2 new series of PSUs, 1 semi-modular Gold series and 1 fully-modular Platinum series. Gold series: GP500B-HP+ ($73), GP600B-HP+ ($82), GP700B-HP+ ($96) I can't seem to find any certification on the 500W variant but the other 2 have the certifications up on the 80 Plus website. Platinum series: GP650B-OCPT ($100), GP750B-OCPT ($120), GP850B-OCPT ($145) They all have their certifications up on the 80 Plus website. Now onto the question. Both the 500W and 600W variant only come with a single daisy-chained PCIe 6+2 cable! Isn't that weird? Like what if I get an Nvidia graphics card that needs 2 8-pin PCIe cables? Will it be fine? 3 of the above PSUs come with 2 daisy-chained PCIe cables: GP700B-HP+, GP650B-OCPT and GP750B-OCPT. Like wtf why only 2 cables on a 750W PSU??? Will that ever be fine for a SLI setup that needs 4 PCIe 8-pin connectors? And the last one GP850B-OCPT still only comes with only 3 daisy-chained cables. Like even that doesn't have 4 seperate cables! Anyway, I wanted to buy the 500W but couldn't find its certifications on the 80 Plus website so I want to buy the 600W but that only comes with 1 daisy-chained PCIe cable! So I wanted to step up higher for the 700W but the 650W Platinum is really close at only $4 more lol. So I'm leaning towards that one! What do you thing about these? Do you think they're any good at all? Here are some links: Gold series official page: goo.gl/a7gPaK (Sorry it's in Persian but I think you'd only need to look at the pics at the end) Platinum series official page: goo.gl/1tdHr9 Gold series certs on 80plus.com: goo.gl/HNKWaT (600W), goo.gl/DVta1L (700W) Platinum series certs: goo.gl/7o7hYt (650W), goo.gl/no7qVL (750W), goo.gl/ZRF3qR (850W) Cables: goo.gl/HYi3wE, goo.gl/29jdWy, goo.gl/8h7ui9, goo.gl/VmJdmM
The comment count keeps increasing but i see no comments. Almost first? What if there is no dual bios? Could the card still be flashed back to life using integrated graphics or another GPU in a two PCI-E slot motherboard?
That is correct. It is also why dual bios cards are great if you are going to monkey around. If you are on a platform without onboard graphics you have to have a second gpu on hand, from the opposite maker. So if you pooch an nvidia card you need an AMD based card so that you can boot from it, then flash the card that is wrecked. Is is suggested to use an opposite company card so you don't confuse the flash tool.
How inconveniently convenient, since upgrading to an Nvidia card i could actually mess around with the old 7870 and maybe not brick it permanently, it'd have to be a very rainy day with me bored out of my mind to even begin though. So dual bios or alternatively integrated graphics for optimal bios juggling.
You're going to need either a second graphics card, or an iGPU to do that. You plug in the card you want to flash into the second GPU slot on your motherboard and when you're in Windows just tell ATIFlash to flash a BIOS to the second card slot, or if you're using an iGPU plug the card into the first slot then just tell ATIFlash to flash a BIOS as usual to the first slot.
BIOS
script to flash:
@echo off
cls
echo Flashing card 0 with BIOS.rom...
echo.
AtiFlash -p 0 -f BIOS.rom
echo.
pause
to backup:
@echo off
cls
echo Saving bios to BIOS_backup.rom...
echo.
AtiFlash -s 0 BIOS_backup.rom
echo.
pause
NOT FIRST!!!
Any thoughts on using Vega64SoftPowerTableEditor vs editing the registry to change power state/HBM clocks?

"SHUTDOWN U USELESS PILE OF GARBAGE" LUL
+Actually Hardcore Overclocking
so setting vcore to 1250 in the power play tables doesn't actully set those power limits?

yes, you just need to change the number on the command from 0 to the PCI lane the broken card is installed.
Thanks for the video. I bricked one of the bios in my RX480 and recovered it using this procedure. :)
Put that backup on 2 computers and a USB drive. I can guarantee a cheep flash drive will be a lot less expensive than your graphics card.
Using the command line is easier (and safer) than trying to make random batch files work and the built-in help of atiflash is self explanatory.
I was able to flash the sapphire pulse 56 with nitro+ 64 bios using your script, thanks dude
56 has 1 hdmi 3 dp, but 64 has 2 hdmi 2 dp. How to fix it?
Thank you so much for the batch file. Very helpful video.
So you are telling me I could have used just used the switch when the system is live all the time...
I tried the DOS method which does not work for new card wtf
Came from pornhub when notification came just to see your video first
he should just upload to both, save us time
Thanks m8! Turned my Vega 64 into a vega FE!
Oh Boy, thank you so much. Its really nice get my gpu back. Tnks for the tuto it's help me a lot
what happened to your gpu ? mine wont boot for some reason after a windows update.
Great tutorial, you saved my rx 580.
Was it sapphire branded by any chance?
Thank you!!!!! You saved me.Subscribed.
when you switch the bioses in windows when the card is working it wont break something?
I'm pretty sure the operating system is using the 2nd bios, and then when you switch, then the 1st bios is assigned to writing, and you can flash over. Notice how when he had the switch on the read only he could not flash the card.
Thanks, help alot my dual bios saved
great tutorial, thank you! helped me a lot

Boot computer with power saving BIOS and switch back to the bricked BIOS after startup. Flash bricked BIOS in MS-DOS, not Windows.
Does this same principle work with Nvidia cards?
how can i rid off that panel that says due to ...ex ex ,,, i launched it as admin and still came up with it

you have no display but the GPU still works on a broken bios, can you do a blind run to reflash your bios?
thx man rly helpfull tricks!
Hey man. I think you're the only one that can save me. I got a used Vega 56 that behaves just like yours when you intentionally bricked but on BOTH BIOS positions. Any chance I can still save it?

PS:i already flashed back the original bios in both ways
I know this a old video but do you know if i can flash a Asus Vega 56 arez strix ???
Help, keep getting bios.rom not found. And yes there is a file with that name in the folder.
Do you know a vega 64 bios that would work with saphires pulse vega 56 with the nano pcb ?
I have tried many bioses but all says subsystem id mismatch and stops cancels itself.
force it to bios flash
do you still need to pass driver bios signature check?
BRO watching this in 2024 rn. How much dogecoin u got in that folder??
Just because of my personal interest: Why are you not using ATIFlash regular by using the .exe in administrator mode?
I've honestly never used it. Always did all my flashing with batch scripts. So it's basically just a habit of mine.
I use ATFlash, I actually experimented with flashing random bios on an RX460, it never bricked. Most importantly restoring the original bios, just as easy.
no thumbnail club wuhuu
NOTE: its atiwinflash not atiflash
Not, it is not. As you can see he is obviously using atiflash in the .bat and not atiwinflash. And today it is not even called atiflash, but amdvbflash.
is it ok to save it via the atiflash? that's how i've done it when i BIOS modded my rx 480
can u also make a vid with unbricking a card with only one BIOS ? :D
you just need another gpu to boot the system, it can even be the igpu, when in windows follow the same process for flashing the card (just make sure you flash the right one )
the thing is that is not the same with just switching from the good bios to bad bios and bios flash it thats y i suggested
Hey, how can i switch the bios with a asus vega 56? Does it have an actual dual bios? Thanks
I don't think there's a dual bios on the asus model. I didn't find any mention of that on ASUS' website.
Heya I know this might be kinda irrelevant to this video but I need some help..
I want to buy a PSU but I live in Iran and here the usual known brands are really expensive.

Platinum series: GP650B-OCPT ($100), GP750B-OCPT ($120), GP850B-OCPT ($145)
They all have their certifications up on the 80 Plus website.

So I wanted to step up higher for the 700W but the 650W Platinum is really close at only $4 more lol. So I'm leaning towards that one! What do you thing about these? Wait what's the point of having a dual bios if we cant flash custom bios??? I mean its nice we can flash other AMD bios. But seriously???
Can someone help me to get brick my vega 64? 😅
if only there was a second like button
The comment count keeps increasing but i see no comments. Almost first?
What if there is no dual bios? Could the card still be flashed back to life using integrated graphics or another GPU in a two PCI-E slot motherboard?
Count me in for being interested in how to flash BIOS on a single BIOS chip GPU.
So dual bios or alternatively integrated graphics for optimal bios juggling.
please do the video how to recover on a single bios card pls :D
You're going to need either a second graphics card, or an iGPU to do that.
You plug in the card you want to flash into the second GPU slot on your motherboard and when you're in Windows just tell ATIFlash to flash a BIOS to the second card slot, or if you're using an iGPU plug the card into the first slot then just tell ATIFlash to flash a BIOS as usual to the first slot.
Can you not run the batch file as admin in win 10? I have to do that to set my GTX 970 to Pstate 0 for proper mining, but I'm on 7 not 10.
tried that a few days ago didn't work.
Actually Hardcore Overclocking wow will windows ten ever stop delivering on reasons to hate it? haha
