I bought this machine in 1978. Burnt the motor out in the late 80s. Had it replaced by Sears, but they sold me weaker motor. I still have this machine, still sewing on it. Thank you for this very clear video of how to take care of it. Might even out last me! 🤣
God bless you, I have this exact sewing machine given to me by my mom and it’s been so long since I’ve used it that I have no idea how to clean it anymore. Thank you for the demonstration!!
I grew up sewing on this model kenmore and I found another one that had loved and cared for by a women. I purchased it and just cleaned and oiled it and this video was beyond helpful! So excited to sew on it!
Love this machine so much I found one at Salvation Army thrift for my granddaughter. Thank you for showing how to clean and oil. Prepped the machine and gifted to a very very happy lil cosplayer.
Great machine...I have one and just found one at Goodwill for my sister. Love these vintage machines...they never leave you hanging if you oil them once in awhile...Thank you for showing this!
Thanks for the XLNT video, the manual's oil points are incomplete, this really helps!. I just got one of these, stored for decades and totally frozen up, was able to free up everything except the double pully in the middle. How does one remove the back cover to get to it? It appears the stitch length knob needs to come off, but no obvious way to do it. It needs to come off to change belts, too.
I wish you showed how to take the top off with the screw driver, I can't find this model anywhere else on TH-cam,maybe an in depth dissect video? What comes apart and how, and why you would need to? Maybe I'm just dumb lol
You may figure it out by now. Just unscrew the 2 screw and lift the cover. The manual also show it. We.sewers have much to learn just learning myself. Much blessings

Thanks! I just found one of these at a pawn shop. It runs so smooth but it needs a good cleaning and oiling before I can use it. I’m so excited!
Great video thank you

Is this a low or high shank
How do you remove the top and side cover panels? I have a Kenmore 158-1262180 and cannot figure out how to remove these panels.
Did you figure it out yet? Top pops off if you wedge screwdriver under top and use it like a lever. Side panel on mine has a couple of screws
