Effectively understanding the grid system was personally my most difficult and frustrating part with building. Thank you so much for doing such a great example of how to manage it to keep things clean and organized to avoid hassle.
If you want to build the roof to see the whole building before decorating the inside, you can split the first roof piece from selection to start a new group, build the roof from that piece, and when you're done you can lift the entire roof up to give you easy access to the inside, decorate, then bring the whole thing down again. Makes it a lot easier to see what you're doing with the fiddly camera. Also when you're building a wall section to repeat, if you use a lot of small pieces next to each other (like those sticks to make the panel at the bottom), rotate each piece individually to a random rotation to get rid of the very repetitive pattern. It'll make it look a bit more natural. Finally, you can add some decals to the inside to make the habitat a bit more grimey, as warthogs are dirty muddy little buggers :) A couple blemishes on the walls and some mud and dirt in the corners and edges of the building can go a long way. Awesome tutorial, very pleasant to watch! Keep making more :D
Literally saved me the comment. Took me way to long to work this one out. Other tip is to name your building groups so that you know what you selected, the last thing you want to do is move the wrong thing.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve played Planet Zoo for years but just made simple enclosures. Now I’ve made my first few buildings. Sure they are a bit clumsy but they are mine.
I don't really have the patience required to do a build like this, and I have found the game intensely frustrating when I try to build my own stuff but I got some great tips from this video, thank you!
Awesome Video. Planning a return to Planet Zoo since a year, but I want more input in building without speed builds. Really loved listening and enjoyed watching!
Gonna be honest for the first portion i thought "eh, its ok but nothing crazy" but honestly by the end, you NAILED this build bro, awesome habitat and i feel like an *** for judging it at the beginning
Dude...whaaat😮 you sir... Are a wizard 😂 Loveeee your videos. Just starting this game on ps5 so its a little different but i think i can make it work. Thnx!
Just discovered your channel today. Binge-watching your videos. I have ZERO creativity, so these videos give me something to start with. Question: Barriers creation. Why place end posts at both ends when creating the first piece? Just put end post on the first piece. Then, duplicate the merged piece. On the last piece, place the missing end post. This is especially critical when not playing sandbox and have limited funds at the beginning of the campaign scenario. sidebar: you just sold me on the Conservation DLC due to your videos. I hope you collected your sales commission. LOL
When you were adding things at the 6:30 mark, how were you able to elongate the planks as you put them? I can't for the life of me figure out how to make them longer. When I press x on the item, it only moves it up and down and not make it longer.
Could you do more videos on those gaps? I feel like that is my biggest struggle because I want to give above and beyond but as soon as fencing doesn’t align I give up on it
Beautiful build. The vanilla enclosure barriers have a resistance rating and dilapidation rating but how does it work with custom made barriers? Do you have to turn off those options or only use them in Sandbox mode?
Does the 4 meter gap between the habitats gate and guest barrier do anything besides aesthetics? It doesn’t make the guests see the animal less as they has to now look further?
You’ll notice a lot of zoos integrate this technique to distance visitors (helps prevent stress for certain animals and helps with stopping kids from slamming glass or people reaching/leaning in). Game wise- it just looks nice and helps look real
Only issues I have with the flat roofs, in certain time of the day as the aun sits in the sky I get the lines of each bit and it looks naff. Is this just me?
How do you get some of the items to align to the object?? Snapping to orientation setting and aligning to surface is helpful but sometimes, when I select an object, it just kind of floats in the ether
What does it say ? As long as there is a habitat gate with null barrier connection on both sides and a path leading from your trade centre to the habitat gate there shouldn't be a problem
For a complete new player, this sadly is way too complicated. I have no idea how you rotate items, create a copy of an Item, change colors, make it sit in the middle etc. Would appreciate you could tell us all the steps for a tutorial :(
I would suggest playing through the career levels first to understand the controls of the game. Then if you look on my channel I have many tutorials not just this one. Of you need a more basic game tutorial then watch that
@@adamup i followed ur tut and it ended up looking really great but my guests really enjoy walking straight through the guest barriers and walls of the hard shelter
Habitats and shelters are fine but the paths kill the game for me. Every single time I try to path something to build around it I get "obstructed" even though there's plenty of space within the grid without "obstructing" a f-ing path. Complete bs system.
Effectively understanding the grid system was personally my most difficult and frustrating part with building. Thank you so much for doing such a great example of how to manage it to keep things clean and organized to avoid hassle.
You're very welcome!
I didn't know I could align the paths to the actual building! My OCD is cured! Good video!
You are welcome

I’ve just started planet zoo. I’m not a great builder so watching these gives me hope.
Your voice is so comforting. Idk what it is it is just very soothing, also thank you for the tutorial :)

Thank you and welcome back to planet zoo ! ❤️
You are so creative, wow! Thank you so much for the tutorial, it was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!

It all comes together at the end. Not the best habitat I've ever built bit an easy one for people to follow along with as a tutorial
You're like the Bob Ross of Planet Zoo, I'm loving your videos
Thank you, Just got this game during the steam July sale. Very confused on how to build anything. this helped thank you.
This is pretty cool, I really like how you do your foliage I don't know why I haven't thought of doing it that way
Honestly, the best tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you so much for this video!
this is sooo helpful, thank you! I was building a raccoon enclosure and it wanted SOOO much hard shelter it was ridiculous, but this is the answer
You're very welcome!
I love your channel! Thanks for the great info and beautiful work

The 2 grade fence system is a thing im gonna try, thank you for the help
Thank you, I'm from Brazil, and I learned a lot!
Thanks for the vid, the feeling for the need for preset habitats has been in me for so long😂😂
You make building look so easy! Love the tutorial, lot of inspiration for my zoos :)
Thank you! 😊
This has been so helpful. Thanks
Great video continue this series it is very helpful
Amazing video, I loved it!
Thanks 😊
Thank you for another great and helpful video 😊
Very good tutorial, thank you for that!
You're welcome
@adamup you have a Habitat with an adventure ride going through it like for Elephant and other animals
Thank you for the video!

I'm just duplicating them, click on a item and press advance move and duplicate
@@adamup Thank you so much! You've been a big help ❤
Great tutorial well done i learnt alot, thankyou.
Could you do more videos on those gaps? I feel like that is my biggest struggle because I want to give above and beyond but as soon as fencing doesn’t align I give up on it
How does this work with the different height/material requirements for the animals? Does it just not matter when you build your own fencing?
It doesn't matter
So helpful and inspiring!
Beautiful build. The vanilla enclosure barriers have a resistance rating and dilapidation rating but how does it work with custom made barriers? Do you have to turn off those options or only use them in Sandbox mode?
That's another brilliant thing about using custom barriers. They don't degrade and don't need a rating to keep in animals
Definitly using that one when I finally get myself to buy an actual gaming pc that can handle that game
Thank you very much!
Just started loving the game so far are you able to do a grizzly habitat step by step?
Does the 4 meter gap between the habitats gate and guest barrier do anything besides aesthetics? It doesn’t make the guests see the animal less as they has to now look further?
Has no effect its just cosmetic

@@unyxpectedtrinkets4616 awesome thank you! As long as it doesn’t affect the view distance too much it’s so worth it to add

Align to surface option. Tick it or alternatively use advanced move to move it
Awesome job!
Thank you 😊
Hello love the build but I’d love to ask is this design functional? In other words can the visitors see the animals and donate money to you?
Of course they can, yes
Thank you so much
How do you rotate? I'm brand new and trying to follow along.
Rotate what ?
@@adamup I have figured it out! Thank you
nice
😎
How do you make a hard shelter that is also a backstage area, for a sunken habitat?
Create a slope with the terrain tool upwards to ground level
Build a custom shelter but in game it says no shelter? Is it because I used a normal door passage?
How do you make that fences
Why can’t I find the conservation building pieces? Got all the add-ons packs
If you have the conservation pack, you will have the conservation pieces
@@adamup just found out that is not out for ps5 yet lol
I tried my best to copy it but it wouldn’t let me put the animal in the habit do you know why?
What does it say ? As long as there is a habitat gate with null barrier connection on both sides and a path leading from your trade centre to the habitat gate there shouldn't be a problem
What DLC are you using?
All of them :)

Didn't feel the need to include these in a tutorial as they are pretty much self-explanatory to be honest. Just throw a screen in haha 😄
@@adamup i followed ur tut and it ended up looking really great but my guests really enjoy walking straight through the guest barriers and walls of the hard shelter
i cannot work out how to lower the floor, not getting the option, pressing keys does nothing
Make sure all the floor is selected and then press x on your keyboard
But can they actually go through the habitat door?
Yes 😁
Everytime I try it’s a fail nothing helps idk what to do
플래닛 주 건설 기능을 이용한 쉼터와 울타리 펜스 만들기
i feel like the hard shelter is too big for the habitat
This was a demonstration on creating a habitat catered for new players. I didn't focus on hard shelter dimensions, to be honest.
@@adamup fair enough, not criticizing loved the video, helps alot
it looks like the Warthogs could easily escape the exhibit to the left of the shelter since you neglected to complete the barrier fence.
Nope, incorrect, rock work was added to fill the gap, see end of video. They can not escape
It's not that easy...
Hopefully, the tutorial makes it easier for people.
These people have to much time on their hands, I couldn't be bothered doing all at..I just use the pre made buildings...
