Absolutely blown away always wanted to see a proshot version of something rotten and if the actors didn’t look as young I’d swear this was a broadway production not a high school one.
What in the actual?! This is high school? I only wish we had the drama department they do, the orchestra, the dancing, the guys who actually were willing to be in the plays and more! Fantastic!
It takes a “village” and that means parents speaking up and demanding an Arts program at their child’s schools. Also needs people to speak up and demand equity in the way FUNDS are spent by local school districts. As we all know, SPORTS are handed money hand over fist. Always has been that way and (sadly) always will UNLESS students and parents act with their votes, and their voices, demanding equity and money for the arts programs at their local schools.
We gotta give props to the people behind the cameras! They did an amazing job! So did the orchestra! Ugh this was so good! Ive watched this multiple times already.
omg it is so refreshing to watch a real performance where you can tell everyone is so passionate about what they are doing and dont seem miserable.. love it
But it's not just the budget. It's the talent of director, music directors, choreo who have built a program. And as to budget, I suspect it is a choice by the admin and trustees. Many other schools throw much more money at football, so no reason why a school can't choose to do it for the arts.
Yeah we actually aren’t funded by the school (that all goes to sports). We get everything from fundraisers, tickets, and SPARC which is a parent run organization!
Viewing other Something Rotten school productions, this one is certainly carried by the actors and the direction is more grounded and raw. While some things aren't perfect, this manages to have the most heart due to the performances. This school has some great student actors that I hope find success in their futures.
WOW, for a high school this is an amazing production. What a talented bunch of young people. Kudos to their teachers and instructors for pulling this all together for a very successful show.
What a great play. I enjoyed this so much more than the original Broadway play. It is much more cheerful and chemistry between actors is so much better in my eyes. Especially Bea completely elevated the character with her sassiness and Nostradamus is finally eccentric like someone who sees the future should be :D. Really an awesome job.
holy crap this was genuinely the best performance i’ve seen by far. i would argue that some parts were better than (bootleg versions) of the Original Cast Broadway performance! i also love how these young actors added their own take on segments of dialog and song! this was outstanding!
Absolutely phenomenal! You really can't tell this is a high school production. Keep up great job and I hope to see the actors on Broadway in few years :)
haha! I love this musical! I’m doing Something Rotten for my jr high! So excited🩷 I auditioned for Nancy (Nostradamus) and I’m anxiously waiting for the cast list!
Everyone involved in this production should be very proud. this was so enjoyable to watch and ALL of the actors did an amazing job. I keep watching this over and over cause I so enjoy it. watching it makes me feel happy. I hope everyone in this production stays in the theater cause you all are amazing

Aw this is such a brilliant production!! You can clearly see how everyone's putting 100% into their roles, whether they be large or small. I'm sincerely impressed!!! Amazing work to everyone!!! Had a smile on my face throughout and it truly felt like re-experiencing a musical I loved before. Bravo! ❤
If this is genuinely one school, i don't know they do it. I've been very lucky to perform at a very high level and in groups when I was younger With people like Andrew Clutterbuck {Lincoln} and Tom Payne plus Indira Varma and Sarah Lane, But this school keeps churning out new talent after talent. I have to send congrats from the Uk. Looking forward to little shop of horrors. Andy Lincoln played Seymore in his youth.
Another amazing production from Summit High School! The entire cast are really so talented the orchestra too! But Nostradamus, Nigel, Bea and Shakespeare aren't getting enough credit!

I love this show! Especially the succulent little number in the middle where the Shakespeare one talked about how he was a hard bard!!!! Good overall, could use a little more of the most intimidating senior. Good luck with your fall musical! - Todd Klein Branowitz
That was tremendous. Over the years, I've spent a lot of money in the West End and on Broadway to see far worse productions of musicals. From the costumes to the choreography to the direction to the performances - there wasn't a duff note anywhere. Just a constant whirl of wit, laughs and infectous fun. It was tremendous.
Does this school offer a robust dance class during school time (like as part of PE class?) Most teens learn to dance in after school private dance studios. Bravo to the dancers, which usually means many schools have very few kids who actually dance (cheer type dance does not count in my opinion.)
We literally have no dancing classes and barely any of us take dance outside of school lol. This is all the result of our choreographer and dance captains!!

More entertaining than any broadway musical, Hollywood movie, and honestly anything. The raw, unfiltered emotion were conveyed perfectly. It was so straight forward, and had so many swings, and mood changes. It really motivated me to get off my phone for a while. On a serious note, sorry to hear that. Wishing you the best, brother.
I am so judgmental of high school productions (and no, I don’t have children) and these kids are wonderful. Just stumbled across them on TH-cam and searching for more. Don’t always like the shows themselves (Something Rotten is horrible drivel) but they do a wonderful job.
In defense of this “horrible drivel” you must keep in mind that high school theater programs must choose shows which they have the talent for and interest in from the students. While some theatergoers may prefer Shaw or Shakespeare over what you refer to as “drivel,” kids aged 14 to 18 may not have an appreciation for that (yet). High school directors are forced to choose shows which will showcase the talent they know they have available and also must choose fare that students view as fun and entertaining and WANT to be up on that stage and spending hours upon hours of rehearsal etc. And then there is the audience to consider as well. These productions are predominately going to be seen by family and friends and the school population. It’s not as easy to sell tickets to The Crucible as it may be for a musical. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying that school theater programs (if they even exist - which at MANY American high schools they do not) shouldn’t introduce students and the community to “classics” or dramatic works rather than musicals, but a huge factor is choosing the “right” show for the student performers the school has and also something that has a large cast (most plays/dramas do not) and which the parents would find entertaining.
How have you gotten away with posting this on TH-cam? MTI’s steaming licensing agreements do not include posting on TH-cam and other social media. You are running the risk of getting fined and having future licensing denied.
MTI seems to have given up trying to stop shows being posted on TH-cam, there are seemingly thousands of different musicals fully posted. Perhaps MTI figures it is good publicity for schools in choosing their shows.@@thecharchive1020
