Same here When I think of Sabbath, I don't think about Ozzy. I think of Tony Iommi. I can't think of any other person who has done more to single-handedly usher in the era of heavy metal than Tony Iommi.
For sure. Saw a top 50 guitarists list the other day. Tony I was no. 47 !!!!!!!!! Laughed my head off for ten minutes. ffs, a genius rated 47 .... lololololololol
Josh Raymond its just one of many great riffs. And it seems these people go back to sabbaths young days fetching for riffs. I would too, cus they have some kind of magic surrounding them.
Hell yeah, every song on that album is amazing! It’s my personal favorite, and in my opinion the BEST Sabbath album ever. Children of the Sea, Lady Evil, Neon Knights, the list just goes on and on.
0:57 "My favourite (Tony) riff is National Acrobat"... Literally the only riff on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath record that was written by Geezer... not Tony xD
Not many musicians get nothing but love from peers like Tony iommi. There is no one better a true genius and innovative player. The creator of all things amazing and heavy
my heart to Tony Iommi, he is one of the inventors of the greatest thing humanity has ever made, Metal. And he deserves every bit of love from any metal fan in existence, now and then.
The first metal song I heard from Tony Iommi and Black Sabbath was "Electric Funeral!" It was 1973 and I was 14. Wow!! I fell in love with Sabbath at that moment!! Ty, Tony (and Ozzy, and Bill and Geezer!!!)!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Here's some of my favorites off the top of my head. -The main riff in "Falling Off The Edge of The World" after the two minute long intro section -Intro/Main riff to "Die Young" -Intro/Main Riff to "Time Machine" -"Holy In The Sky" intro/main riff -Breakdown down type riff in "God Is Dead" at 06:19 -Verse riff in "Bible Black" at 01:59 -Intro/main riff in "Anno Mundi" starting at 00:58
I love you Tony and thank you and the rest of Black Sabbath for all the great music. On another note let’s not forget that Geezer Butler wrote most of the early kick ass riffs for Sabbath’s early days!!
Favorite riff by Tony Iommi? Well considering that you can literally choose between a huge amount of them, I'd have to say that for me it's a tie between Symptom of the Universe and the breakdown riff of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Which by the way is the absolute heaviest guitar riff of all time. No other guitar riff past present or future will ever be heavier than that riff.
It's all opinion really. In fact, Tony wrote and played so many amazing riffs it's difficult to single out one. Heck, it would be difficult to pick out a top 5. Nobody has even mentioned the killer riffs off Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules. Country Girl and Falling Off the Edge of the World are 2 of the greatest riff-heavy songs ever written.
Got intyo Black Sabbath at early age ... never hace I seen a guitarist that had to downtune the special strings soo he could do the chords... saw them 3 times but Bill Ward wasnt there... also a special drummer ... hes very humble ... ty Toni forver Black Sabbath ... fr Canada
Black Sabbath is the best riff. (The song) Also has anyone heard "Orchid" from the master of reality album. That's a short acoustic instrumental that sounds so fuckin' good. Iommi is a badass even in acoustic
I would actually enjoy seeing that band: gene simmons: bass, Tony iommi: lead guitar, alice cooper: vocals, brian may: rhythm guitar, and vinny appice: drums
I’m guessing Simmons was remembering something they talked about 30 years ago, and if you’d ask Iommi, he wouldn’t remember “the monsters “ at all. (So stupid name too,,,)
I was at a friend's place, he was mostly a jazz guy, at least he thought he was. He pulls out Sabotage and says "Eh, it's ok, you might like it" Hole in the Sky was like wow but Symptoms was like WHOA! The next day, went to the record store and bought every Sabbath album they had
Wow. Very cool. Tony Iommi Is my all time favorite metal musician although R.J. Dio runs a close 2nd. The world is truly a better place because of Tony Iommi. And also (to a slightly lesser degree) because of Ronnie James Dio. I hope Tony realizes how much he is loved and how much his music has contributed to the lives of others.
St Vitus Dance , and the break in the middle of Hand of Doom are the riffs that really got my attention. Iommi is in his own category to me. I love a lot of the music from the bands that came from the UK but Sabbath stsnds alone
NIB is one of my fave riffs
Victor C. Aww yeahh!!!
OWWWWW. YEAAAAH
"Sign of the Southern Cross"- the grandest riff he came up with. "Supernaut" riff is the catchiest; pure ear-worm perfection.
Wait! Gene complemented someone other than himself!
Followed by another comment about himself in the third person.
@@BeardManDrummer1999 lol of course
He complimented himself by suggesting that the great Tony Iommi would even consider forming a band with him.
Only to try and take credit for some other shite
He's a tool but I've heard him compliment musicians plenty of times. Rush ACDC Aerosmith Zeppelin Beatles Dave Clark 5 etc. He knows what's good
Tony Iommi = the best/my favorite metal guitarist of all time
Anders Frandsen
Yeah, so... what’s your point?
Same here When I think of Sabbath, I don't think about Ozzy. I think of Tony Iommi. I can't think of any other person who has done more to single-handedly usher in the era of heavy metal than Tony Iommi.
So many great musicians saying to Tony that he's a legend, and everyone is right, The BEST Metal guitar player
For sure. Saw a top 50 guitarists list the other day. Tony I was no. 47 !!!!!!!!!

Surprised no one said Heaven and Hell... killer riff
Josh Raymond its just one of many great riffs. And it seems these people go back to sabbaths young days fetching for riffs. I would too, cus they have some kind of magic surrounding them.

Heavem and Hell!!! Of course! And ALL Mod Rules!
Josh Raymond 💟💟💟💟
Mike?
Tom Araya's voice is fucked up after all these years of raising hell with it!
Electric Funeral !!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great choice. So simple, yet so haunting
Symptom of the universe is my favorite
Right. Extra heavy and has one of the coolest/ most surprising outros
Into The Void is such an underrated Black Sabbath song.
MJNation
That is actually my favorite
It's top 10 for me. Masters Of Reality is the best 👌🏻
I think Masters of Reality is their best album and Into the Void is my favourite song by them
Yes! I also love the Soundgarden cover of it
Agreed
Cornucopia, fucking monstrous riff that makes you want to go fucking insane.
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who was gonna bring that one up
You have taste.
Love the shining...Martin eara. '87
0:57 "My favourite (Tony) riff is National Acrobat"... Literally the only riff on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath record that was written by Geezer... not Tony xD
Yeah. Tony mentioned it in his biograph. It broke my heart, since it's also my favorite Sabbath riff...
@@ffsf739 why tho? Geezer is also a great musician!
@@i-anhsieh98 he is, and I love him. It's just sad that, out of the hundreds of riffs written by Tony, my favorite came from another dude! 😂
@@ffsf739 ahhh ic lmao
@Mr.Brenman21 Yeah, I've heard them all. He's great!
Still trying to get over the fact that Black sabbath is over.....damn

Gillan, you're not so selfish! Trashed is a great song and Born Again album is awesome.
Toni Banov agree 100% and good to see they included gillan's comments
I would have picked Zero the Hero tho.
BORN AGAIN.
Disturbing the Priest was also pretty good.
Gillan is brilliant
Children of the sea!! Iommi is the greatest rock star ever!!
Tony Iommi...Too Much Respect For You, I Love You Man
Here's some of my favorites off the top of my head.
-The main riff in "Falling Off The Edge of The World" after the two minute long intro section

-Breakdown down type riff in "God Is Dead" at 06:19

Those are all great songs. What about the riff in Country Girl??
Symptom of the universe is my favorite Sabbath riff
I love and worship Tony Iommi..
joey's pick of into the void was by far the best one - THAT is sabbath at its best. THAT is metal.
Love his work, used to listen to it before football games, now I play it so he's definitely top 3 for me.
I love you Tony and thank you and the rest of Black Sabbath for all the great music. On another note let’s not forget that Geezer Butler wrote most of the early kick ass riffs for Sabbath’s early days!!
Makes me proud to be British.
Can u please gimme sum woooota
You are british but you arent Toni Iommi...
I'm so glad for Britain's contribution to the world of metal
I’m hoping it’s not the only reason.
Randy Blythe is one of my favorite human beings
St. Vitus Dance is amazing also, equally as HEAVY as it is CATCHY!!
I always wanted a Heavy Metal BIG 4 tour with *Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motorhead*
Under the Sun....that outro riff is my favorite....and the intro is awesome as well
Symptom of the universe moves mountains, my personal favorite
That album from "gday prick" intro to hole in the sky all the way through to the writ ...... is the finest set of music of all freaking time
Tony is as prolific a riff creator as there's ever been. He'll never be matched much less surpassed.
Lord of this world!!!
Very obscure but Buried Alive. Love that song
Symptom of the Universe is so simple it's brilliant. The main riff in Time Machine is already overlooked and that's a great one too.
Favorite riff by Tony Iommi? I agree that Black Sabbath is a very heavy song but the two I mentioned in my opinion are slightly heavier. :-)
It's all opinion really. In fact, Tony wrote and played so many amazing riffs it's difficult to single out one. Heck, it would be difficult to pick out a top 5.

@@josephbarr1659 Voodoo IMO is the best riff off of Mob Rules. So damn catchy
into the void as a starter, he's true ball rippin rnr at its absolute best. we're all gd lucky to have had him kick in it, so good.
The outro riff of Sab bloody Sab, when Ozzy wails,"Where can you run to" etc,is the heaviest riff.
Trashed really is an awesome song. I remember seeing the vudeo on MTV in 84.
Hail the mighty Tony Iommi !! Children of the grave and Neon knights for me . Thank you Sir for creating the music genre i love the best !!
"Zero the hero" riff from the album born again has got to be Black Sabbath heaviest song ever recorded!!!
Killing yourself to live, Children of the Grave, Heaven and Hell ... loads of great riffs.
Mr Riff Master of Reality!! 🤘🏻
If it's possible to like this video more times than once, I would totally keep hitting that like button.
For a second I thought Tony had died!
Thank fuck he isn't
I thought the same thing when I saw the video
Wizard of Aus me too!!!

Black Sabbath is the best riff. (The song)
Also has anyone heard "Orchid" from the master of reality album. That's a short acoustic instrumental that sounds so fuckin' good. Iommi is a badass even in acoustic
Favorite Sabbath album.
One of my other favorite instrumentals that was on the Eternal Idol album was Scarlett Pimpernel. Just so soothing and calm.
I would actually enjoy seeing that band: gene simmons: bass, Tony iommi: lead guitar, alice cooper: vocals, brian may: rhythm guitar, and vinny appice: drums
soooo glad "The Monsters" never happened. Tony never would have got that stench off him.
Gene simmons sucks
I’m guessing Simmons was remembering something they talked about 30 years ago, and if you’d ask Iommi, he wouldn’t remember “the monsters “ at all. (So stupid name too,,,)
Into the Void. Joey, I loved that.
Good choices by these guys. My favs are Into the Void, Tomorrows Dream, Lord of this World
a national accorbat for a national treasure, and not to forget under the sun
I love him too.
Lord of this world and megalomania r my two fav sabbath riffs, and War pigs got my fav sabbath solo
Awesome!
Hail Tony
🍻
There's so much respect in metal for the fucking godfathers and I love it as a genre for that reason. Iommi is indeed the Riffmaster.
Symptom of the universe!!
because of you, I have a job. nuff said.
Lord Iommi is the true Metal God
Tony Iommi, a legend
Yeah great video!!
The solo on The Warning! Best ever.
Geezer wrote the riff to A National Acrobat
National Acrobat!!!!!!
Ofc Gene fucking Simmons was gonna start a band with him..
The beginning riff of Under the Sun is so fucking heavy! My favorite
The riff family
The god - toni iommi
The king - james hetfield
The prince - joe duplantier
Hard to say, but love the groove in Supernaut. A very underappreciated song. Also Children of the Sea, just a really well constructed song.
A national acrobat is my favorite... it is a happy tune
Supernaut. Catchiest riff ever!
Lord of this world
A National Acrobat .... RIFF IN PEACE
supernaut, snowblind, electric funeral, and black sabbath are my favorites. can’t pick one
'Born again' is my fav non-Ozzie album by Sabbath!. Ian does great vocals and The band are as heavy as a jet propelled steam roller!.
The breakdown part in KILLING YOURSELF TO LIVE IS THE NASTIEST RIFF THAT IVE EVER LISTENED TO THIS DAY.
Tony is the best
Sympton of the universe for me
GEEZER. BUTLER !! GENIUS

My all time favourite Iommi songs are Fairies Wear Boots and War Pigs. And Ironman. And Paranoid. Ah fuck it I love all of it.
paranoid solo is so full of energy
The miles of difference between "believe it or not, I almost worked with him...." and "my favourite Iommi riff is from a song we wrote together"
The thumbnail has all of my favorite people
St Vitus Dance , and the break in the middle of Hand of Doom are the riffs that really got my attention. Iommi is in his own category to me. I love a lot of the music from the bands that came from the UK but Sabbath stsnds alone
Supernaut..
Damn right.
Into the void go hard asf
Amen my friend
i listen to black Sabbath beacuse of my teacher both of us were metalheads but he showed me other bands \M/
Immpossible! For me the most iconic is Black Sabbath song. But theres a lot of giant riffs so i stand with Ian for underrated Trashed.
Symptom of the universe is best riff period.

Under The Sun is unreal
Favorite Sabbath song is Electric Funeral
HEAVEN AND HELL!!!!
