    I absolutely adore my 5-speed manual Mazda 5. It's the best, most useful, fun, capable and efficient car I've ever owned.

    Neat Build... I’m looking at a 2015 and 2014... At 0:40 I see a plug in on the left... Is that 12v?

      Yeah it's a basic cigarette lighter. Extremely handy to charge a power bank. Turns on when driving. Cheers!

      I use them for work and just big enough to sleep comfortable if your 6' tall (72").

    Are they reliable? I'm looking into buying a decent looking mazda 5 (2006) with about 260,000 kms on it.

      For sure! Mine has been incredibly reliable so far. Has about 115k miles (roughly 200k km?). I've had it about 6 months with basically zero problems. Recently replaced a front wheel bearing but that's gonna happen. Cheers!

    How wide is that rear area? What is distance form backk of front seat to rear door?

    • @321naturalTV
      @321naturalTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's about 6 feet. If I move the seat forward there's a little more space as well

    • @emmalinecloudswing
      @emmalinecloudswing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could have you build a bed keeping the seat? Just fold them?

    how tall are you/ how long is your bed?

  • @devdeque7846
    @devdeque7846 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd probably not use the the back door and build storage cabinets etc in front of it - leaving a cubby for your feet when you sleep.
    Get rid of the stock rear seat. Remake the bed with hinges and rails in so that the middle comes up and pushes towards the back creating a chair. Maybe with it partially going into the said storage wall to make it really compact? Buy and use a foldable laptop desk or make a table that works for the seat. I used for two years in college. I get the floor isn't level. I'd probably just carpet it with something ridged/waterproof and deal with it.
    With that stock chair gone, you could do some cabinets on that side. If you closed it off, minding the window for ventilation, you could do a small sink and counter. Maybe a cooler. Somewhere to storage water. But for most of the day, you'd be seated facing the front of the van and have more space with everything in arms reach. For storage, since the rear door isn't used, I'd get a trailer hitch kit and a cargo carrier platform. Throw a metal lockable toolbox on there or something else to put stuff in.
    Maybe you could create a floating cubby in the front like the Ford Transit Connect has? You seem to have some free space up there to do something.
    Just some ideas. I'm about the buy a used Mazada 5 if the deal holds up. I was planning on doing a camper. I want to go kayak fishing all around my state and they're 8 hour drives easy. Screw setting up and taking down camping gear everytime. Adding, I constantly fear my father is going to pass away and I'll have no where to stay. I can't afford a house.

      Thanks much! Great thoughts and I agree with most of them. Currently I have a roof over my head and a bedroom, yet I actually sleep in the minivan more often than not. They are small compared to an Odyssey or Sienna. But the gas mileage is much better. So it's a tradeoff. If I ever do move into the van full time I would definitely get the rear trunk attached and get rid of the back seat, for starters. Keep me posted on your progress. Please send a video link as well, if you get one! Cheers

    Am I correct in assuming you removed the seat behind the driver seat?
    I love my Mazda5. the perfect size.

    Can you sleep in one of those comfortably if you're 6'3?

    • @tinman3000
      @tinman3000 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just bought one and I'm 6'4"... it's under 6' from the back door to the front seats so I'm going to build a hinged platform that will work if I fold the front seat up. It'll be okay for a night or two on the road but I wouldn't say it'll be a space to live in.

      @@enhancedutility266 yeah, I had a Toyota Sienna that I'm pulling off the road after 21 years... it had tons of space. This one will take some work but the price was right and the reviews were good so I'll just have to do what I can.
