I enjoyed watching this. It is so hard to find people who cook with a crock pot only. I live in a hotel room. No pots, no pans, no stove, no oven...only a crockpot. Almost every recipe I see has a browning component in it. If all you have is a slow cooker, you reduce the opportunity to find recipes by 80%. Thank you for this.
Tried this yesterday it was delicious! Only changes I made was I added some beef broth! The meat was so tender the family loved it! Served with some crusty French bread as well and some egg noodles!
Thanks for showing us this, @SimplyMama. We love your recipes, and it's just so EXPENSIVE NOW to eat out anymore. So, we are learning to cook from TH-camr Chefs like you. And, you are helping our family stay in the Middle Class, because with inflation and all of the extra costs and losses that occur in life, it feels like families are slipping into a different social class.
Best shortcut ever and great tips! Absolutely flavorful and scrumptious turnout! I lived on my own for 30+ years and never ever used a crockpot until several months ago. When I made my stews, I always cubed and browned the beef after a good dry rub. It was the magical step that made everything taste better. It was one that took extra time… and that I never imagined would have tasty results if I skipped the browning. You just proved me wrong! My husband absolutely loves this too. So, with a few days of cooler temps on the way … your recipe made our home one happy place. Thanks! 😋
Honestly, I used to make my stew from scratch. Now I use the McCormick seasoning packet for beef stew and follow the directions on the packet. I just add add additional garlic. It’s terrific.
@@chammychamchas just salt, pepper, onion powder garlic powder and celery seed. I don’t recall totally, it’s been so long. I didn’t look at the ingredients in the McCormick seasoning but they must be similar as the stew tastes very much like my own. I never had a recipe. I often cook by taste.
I watch a lot of cooking channels because I dislike eating eating same things over and over but I'm busy and need ideas. I appreciate that this channel looks like someone's house. Love it!
Bet this would be good without the potatoes in the crockpot and instead served over mashed potatoes! Yummy! This gives me some ideas! Thanks for sharing!
I always brown the meat, chicken, pork because it does bring out the flavor. But its good when you can put all your ingredients in a crockpot in the morning on low setting and dinner is ready when you get home 😊
This stew looks amazing. I am happy for a recipe that does not require browning the meat as a first step. Thanks for this recipe. I feel like a lot of us are looking for 'dump and go' recipes for the Crock Pot. Everybody's life is moving a mile a minute, isn't it? Often during the work week, we need to be able to come home to a meal that is already cooked. Thanks for the video.
Thank you. I loved this receipe.. I have made it for the very fussy grandkids and they gobbled it right up. Today, I am cooking a pot for my elderly neighbours. This is going to be regular for my kitchen. A very simple stew that is rich in flavour and so easy to make.
Looks good! I'm going to make this recipe this weekend. Also, you can mix butter, Italian seasoning, and parsley together, put in microwave; until butter is melted then brush on bread and put in oven until it is lightly brown, or longer if you like it a little crunchy. really good!
I should note it's different than mine, I use a 1/2 cup of red wine and a 1/2 cup of beef broth. I add the potatoes and carrots after two hours so they aren't too mushy. I use a large onion, 1/2 diced and 1/2 in chunks. I use two bay leafs. Seasoning is the same and I add peas near the end. I also brown the meat first and deglaze the pan with the wine. That said, Nice Job! ( Oh and I subscribed just because you used peas!)
She Said in the beginning A lot of ppl have been asking about an easier recipe that doesn’t INCLUDE BROWNING THE MEAT. Everything You just mentioned she can do and more. She was showing others who want to make an easier recipe
Looks good and comforting. I love crockpot meals. I think the only things I would do differently is add nice big chunks of onion, and hold off adding the peas til the last 10 min so they wouldn't be mushy. But that's just me. Great job on this Angelica. Thanks for the vid. Always enjoy them and have learned a lot from your Mexican recipes.
Making this for a second time right now. I went shopping from memory and got 2 3/4 lbs meat, I wish I had gotten at least 3 lbs. This is such an easy delicious recipe. Thank you!
I made this last night with french onion soup because I couldn't find beefy onion soup and it was really good! I also added 1 cup of water at the beginning because my slow cooker tends to burn on high with no liquid
As soon as I saw the video I ran to the store and grabbed the ingredients, I am enjoying it for dinner today, delicious and so easy!!! I added mushrooms and pearl onions, yummy ❤
I’m going to try that! I’ve done something similar, serving the toast alongside or cutting the toast into cubes and sprinkling it on like croutons and both are delicious.
Spectacular! I thought, "oh I don't need to watch this, I make stew in crockpot many times". Boy was I happy I did watch, you have some great tips and I never knew you could cook this without adding water. Thanks so much for another great meal. 🌻🐕🥰
Older video I know but, say it like we do in the UK, where it comes from, Wooster sauce, Wooster rhyming with booster. We often smile when we hear Americans saying it, but this is what we do, Wooster sauce.
I’ve watched so many recipes and everyone adds broth or water. I never have. So glad someone else didn’t either. I thought I was the only one who didn’t add water/broth. Lol 😂
👩🏻💻When I make beef stew I always use a roast or steaks for my meat. The dry soup mix is an excellent idea and a time saver. I love onions so I chop one up along with the soup mix. One thing I always do is to chop up those celery leaves, they have more flavor than the celery itself. Beside the celery leaf always looks pretty in stews and soups. I have never put my meat in flour, such a good idea. I have always thickened the juices after, which is a big pain.
Just a tip; if you don’t have the beefy dried onion soup mix, you can add a 1/2 cup of dehydrated onions and 2 beef bouillon cubes or 1 diced onion in place of the dehydrated onions. Another option is a packet of Lipton dried onion soup mix. …from someone that hates to run to the store for that missing ingredient… I’ve been substituting ingredients since the 80’s or leaving them out…sometimes adding stuff like other veggies I don’t want to spoil stews/soups are perfect for that. My tips are to those that are suffering from inflation or those that hate making a extra trip to the store. Smiles to you all and remember to count blessings and be thankful for the little things❤
Once I wanted to thaw a small frozen venison roast to cut up for stew, so I threw it in the crock pot on high while I cut the vegetables. I sampled it before cutting it up and almost didn't have enough for the stew. Never thought "dry roasting" like that would turn out such a delectable hunk of meat! I want to try your recipe, but I think I would put the meat in and turn the crock pot on while preparing the veggies. Same amount of time and effort, but might give the nay-sayers less nay to say. I like the looks of your stew. Thank you for posting it.
1:03 😂 just say Wuh-stah sauce or Woo-sta and everybody in New England will know exactly what you’re talking about! Making this again for me n my hubby! We love it! Oh, and BTW, for anyone who doesn’t like using their bare hands to mix everything… get a box of latex gloves at Sally’s, Target or Amazon… they work great and I used them for everything… gardening, cooking… baking and cleaning.
I'm a bit of a lazy cook, so I brown my meat in the air fryer while I'm prepping the veg. Ten minutes at 200°C does the job nicely, no need to turn it, and the juices go into the crockpot with the meat for extra flavour.
I’m shock that so much liquid had been rendered from the meat. When you first put the lid on all the ingredients without liquid I thought you might have forgotten. Can’t wait to try this!
Really great recipe, and so simple. You could also add turnips with potatoes, even sweet potatoes in large chunks. Love the easiness, and the aromatics.🥰🥰🥰So delicious. Sara
Hi A!!! I never made beef stew in the CP. I think your recipe came out just so...tasty looking. I liked everything but peas. I do not ever eat them. I would maybe add onions and corn to mine maybe. I have been hungry for this meal. Great video!!!...
That looks so delicious 😋 but everything you make looks delicious as well as taste delicious if it’s done your way! Thank you, sharing another delicious recipe!🩷
Some people don't seem to pay attention when watching/listening to these videos! A lot of the questions on here were answered in the video - there was NO LIQUID added to this, the crockpot was set on HIGH, it plainly showed that in the video --- and if you don't like this or that in it then either 'tweak' it or move on to another recipe -- geeeesh!! Oh by the way, the stew looks great and I'm going to the store in the morning to get the ingredients to try it out.

The meat is more flavorful when browned.

Just out of curiosity what are the condiments you'd use to make yours from scratch and are they similar to the ingredients of the seasoning packet.
I’ve never tried it, but my SIL used a lot of McCormick seasoning packets and people thought she was a fabulous cook!

I would like to make this what's the name of the meat you bought from the store? Does it say stewed beef on the packet?
@@bellaapple2166 I use chuck. I find anything above 80 fat is too dry and/or too tough.
