Talk about a man who has been there and done that ! Great fighter and a better man. I was lucky enough to train with John for a several years. It is good to see him get some recognition and to see you guys preserving the history of the sport
Bart Vale was similar in a way to Takada, Vale was a point Karate competitor that played some football then trained in Catch Wrestling under Yoshiaki Funiwara for Professional Wrestling purposes. When he did compete in real fighting he kayfabed his professional wrestling accomplishments as shoots. Vale was far from a great fighter but he was a big strong guy that could handle himself against the average man that's for sure.
Before The Rickson fight Takada was just a Professional Wrestler that did some Catch Wrestling under Karl Gotch for performance setting. I'm sure Takada could have beaten the average local tough guy trained fighter or a journeyman but he was always pitted against very good fighters. He should have been able to beat Mike Bernardo in MMA realistically as Takada was able to get a takedown on Cro Cop, I'm guessing his knees were shot by then.
Wow you all just keep pulling these guys outta the woodwork and pump these interviews out. Thank you, good work and good jobs you all do 👊🏻🙋♂️💯

First fight ever in Pride… was a work!
People used to discount Dixson because he looked like gumby in century full contact pants, this would change after he landed his first punch
It’s hard not to like the guy
John is awesome!
