Joe Doerkson is Canadas first 50 Fight Club member

Joe Doerkson is like a more mellow Harold Howard.
Christmas came early with this one! Doerkson vs Jason Mcdonald in ufc was one of the best rounds of grappling in mma !
Rickson is so overrated its so cringe. Dude fought cans in pride. He wouldve gotten flat lined just like kron gracie
Yeah Zane, but did you win a Kumite ? No….ok
W
Competing in a sport you know nothing about and losing to a stupid rule is not a defeat. Rickson should definitely not count it.
Rickson won the tournament 2x prior… What are your thoughts about counting submissions in practice as wins?
That’s stupid as well. But that’s what everyone did back then because MMA didn’t exist. Remember the early days of NHB peoples “records” would be hundreds of fights.
So a guy that has never been defeated, counts his wins in practice Has never won a state or national championship is ok with you… but not this What about the additional 50 wins that have been added to his record in ten last 10 years?
@@LytesOutMMAHistory I don’t think he’s necessarily counting practice matches. It’s street fights, challenge matches, etc. And he won the World Jiujitsu Championship multiple times
What years did he win a world BJJ championship and who was the opponents? In the last 10 years Rickson has not had an additional 50 street fights and challenge matches He currently lists himself as 450-0
Great interview! I know many of those guys. Please interview Steve Owen of Tucson Dojo. Roland it's good to see you again. Find out who promoted Marc Zee, Steve knows everyone, great guy. Chris you should have asked Roland who were the main people who put the pressure on him in Arizona, and how it went down. Who were the "monkeys?" that Roland spoke of? Ask Roland if he's going to get his black belt and start another academy?
Jacare in Fabio's coach
Back when my son was born I wanted to name him “Spencer Fisher”… our last name is “King” btw. My wife wasn’t on board with it. She said, “you’re not naming our Son after a UFC fighter! You already named our cat Gracie!” I thought Spencer Fisher King would’ve been a great name 🤷🏻
My dogs named Gracie! Gordeau or Tuli will be our next pets name
As for the pyramids, modern archaeologists have changed our beliefs of the Giza plateau pyramids being built with slave labor. Also, Egyptians, Greeks, Persians, Romans and other civilizations have used massive cranes, pulleys and leverage for thousands of years. There’s even videos online of one man moving multi-ton stones by himself. Humans back then had A LOT of time on their hands for projects like that. They didn’t have the internet to waste hours a day on lol.
look at the older buildings in major cities Temple of Baalbek Technology’s different than ours at one time existed Look up Tataria, it will put you in a rabbit hole
I can't believe I missed this one! This was a great interview.. Man people may not realize it now, but you're building a library of history on tape /audio. I've been a fan and listener since the first year it started. So addicting. Thanks for all the amazing content! Hopefully you get gary on again, seems like he has stories for days. Love it! Happy holidays from 🍁
That is the goal A library where everything can be found in the same spot It is also important to us that history is recorded correctly; our process of gathering information and questions is exactly the with every guest
Spencer was a beast back in the day. But Miletich seemed to drive guys pretty hard..
Aleksandr Karelin would have RAGDOLLED Rickson! And, Rickson knew it.
Can you imagine that main event….
@@LytesOutMMAHistory All three minutes😗
In essence he was a bigger and stronger Mark Schultz
Just some perspective: Carlson flipped flopped a lot depending on his feelings of the other side of the family. He once said that Rickson was the best BJJ grappler. Then he got mad at the family for some reason and said Liborio would crush him, etc. We also have to remember, byt he time Rickson fought in Jqpqn in the mid-1990s in Vale Tudo tournaments, he was already 35. When he faced Funaki, he was 40. Time was not on his side with the rise of modern MMA and he was a generation too early.
Thank You for your balanced insight - send me your address and shirt size through Instagram
Did he say that after Schultz tapped Fabio Santos the second time his then girlfriend (now wife) started screaming? 😂
There is a reason that Mark Schultz was never invited to compete at ADCC The Brazilians knew that none of them were going to beat him
I actually got Blue Belt from Chris Saunders in 1999. From what i understand it was the first Blue Belt testing he had done. It SUCKED lol.. it was basically 4 hours of situational sparring. I kept thinking how bad would a purple belt testing be!?
Greek Wrestler was Stefan
We need more Paul Vunak stories!
In the same vein, it would be interesting to hear an interview with Craig Kukuk. I feel like he knows where a lot of the skeletons are, idk how honest he would be about it though.
We will try to make this happen
Weed is amazing. Way better then alcohol.

th-cam.com/video/XlVc7hDvAYg/w-d-xo.html I didn't see Peretti jump into the ring.
Is there an english interview on this channel too?
I didn't know that Danger Zone was Becki's org! Guys from "Metro Fight Club" fought on that extensively: Dave Gardner, David Garcia, "Bad" Brad Burrick all fought in them.
Holy CRAP I didn't know Rudman was the one behind the AFC! Huge man in MMA!
20:02 -- White boi jujitsu, almost all of the Original "Dirty Dozen" talk honestly about it, but people still don't want to acknowledge it.
I was paying $180 a month for 3 classes a week, summer 1994. Mark, the German instructor was the enforcer! He was a beast. John Burke was Royce and Rorion loved him. He was taught "special" techniques that all the other guys in the instructor's program would b*tch about. Sam, the Academy manager would sell merch under the table, so I heard🤐 I'll bounce back and forth as to what I remember. I was there from July1994 - Oct 1996. When Joe fought in the UFC Rorion said if he wins, he's from the Gracie Academy. I came in as a judo BB. I was promoted quickly, left a 4-stripe blue. Higher than some instructors. I recall the first time seeing Chris Brennan. It was at our in house Academy tournament at a High School in Manhattan Beach, April 1996. I never had any interaction with Joe. No offense, he walked around like he was too cool for everyone. Lowell didn't like me! He was teaching the "Mixed Class" for Royce one night. Before class me and another Judoka were throwing one another around. Lowell walked in, shook his head "One of you guys is going to get hurt!" I replied "No, were both Judo BB we know what we're doing." WRONG ANSWER! I guess I should have bowed for his forgiveness. "WE DON'T TOLERATE DISRESPECT HERE, YOUR DONE FOR THE NIGHT." I let it go. I had a great relationship with Royce. I thought about telling him, But no. I even attempted to apologize to Lowell but he walk away. He never made eye contact with me again. Richard, GREAT GUY! He always had that wrist brace on. You could see the pain in face at times. I trained with Erik Paulson at boxing works once a week and went to his open mats on Sunday. Erik was a Great dude! He truly like Royce! He one the first Gracie in House Tournament. Rorion banned him from Torrance. I only know one version. During sparing once we started from a standing position. I think that only happened three or four times I was there? Helio was watching the class (I was unaware) I was killing it will my specialty, trips to a clock choke. Helio called Royce over and the began to have a discussion loud enough for Rorion to come out of his office and listen. Minutes later I was summoned over, no one looked pleased. Rorion Translated for Helio, "What was my martial arts background, have I ever fought before, am I training anywhere else, more questions, I can't recall. I take it Helio was impressed with me. After class Rorion ask me if I want to spar with Royce? I said "FIGHT?" No, Jiu-Jitsu sparring. After Royce stretched for 10 mins, with just Helio and Rorion in the room, we started to spar. Standing up to the ground for about 15 min's.
Machado's > Gracie's
Frank had an Independent mindset.
I wanted to hear more about Vunak!
Trained a lot with Zane back in Phoenix in the 90's. He and Mark Kerr are largely responsible for a large portion of my injuries I have now into my 50's. No regrets, we used to go hard!! Good times.
I would not want to be on the receiving end of either of those two lol
@@LytesOutMMAHistory it wasn't fun.

Correct Chael bear Homer in Hawaii
46:00 Unfortunately, Kron got KO slammed by Bryce Mitchell last Saturday night. I discovered the Gracies in 1994 on VHS tapes. Since then, the Gracie name and Gracie Jiu Jitsu have grown exponentially, like I knew it would. But I think UFC 310 was the end of the Gracies in the UFC. Kron fought like it was 1996. The sport has evolved way beyond Gracie JJ. He showed no stand up striking or wrestling. He came close with an armbar, but I don't expect to see him compete anymore. Kind of sad. But the Legacy the family is leaving behind in the Octagon is quite incredible.
I look at it this way There is only a few Gracie’s that can legitimately call themselves “world champion” Royce - UFC Royler - ADCC Roger - ADCC Kyra - ADCC Kron - ADCC All won world titles It’s an incredible feat coming from one family
@@LytesOutMMAHistoryDo you consider Renzo, Rickson, and Ralph to be legit world champions? or nah?
Rickson - never won a regional/state or national Jiu Jitsu title Renzo - phenomenal competitor, not afraid of anyone. My favorite Gracie - Not a world champion Ralph, very short MMA career and didn’t compete in ADCC Daniel Gracie won the 1998 ADCC title, I left him off the list
