    For the first 20 seconds I actually believed that it was from a tape from the 80s. Only when he said "drop a comment" I thought "wait, what?", but my mind was still trying to make sense of what that meant 40 years ago It took another 10 seconds to wake up completely to what I was actually watching. This was awesome!

    I've compared my Muse with the Behringer model D, and in most cases it does get pretty close. The biggest difference is in the filter, which opens up a bit farther on the Model D. Besides that, I think Muse can do monosynth stuff really well if you need it to. But then you can push the button and it turn it into a polysynth.. which is awesome :)

    • @AllenMichael
      @AllenMichael  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      !!! Okay so I have the Behringer model as well! I agree with you. I did prefer the moog versions for many things but an unexpected one is that the moog has a VTrig input. Behringer uses the filter gate but they respond differently!
      Props also for the Behringer model d overdrive… has a unique sound

    The part that actually tricked me into briefly thinking it was an actual VHS from the 80s was that he isnt overweight.

    I’ll play!
    Model D: 1B, 2A, 3B, 4A, 5B, 6A, 7A, 8B
    A couple I’m not sure about. Feel like the dodgy tuning in 4B was a red herring.
    Looking forward to the results.

    There's nothing else that looks and feels like the Minimoog. As far as the sounds go, all synthesizers capable of producing square/sawtooth/triangle/white noise and sine wave by collapsing these waves with lowpass filter, most synthesizers sound roughly the same. Same like most electric basses sound roughly the same.

    • @payt01
      @payt01 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      While they can do similar stuff, they aren't really interchangable as far as experience goes. If you want the D, go for that one. It's unique little synth and nothing else sounds quite like it. If you just want something that sounds like a moog and offers you a universe of sounds and programmability: that's the Muse.

    The comparison that I would like to see is Matriarch and the Model D. I have the muse and sold the Model D reissue for buying a Matriarch as I feel with its Patch points and analog delay opens another dimension Model D can't. I have only found oscillator comparisons, prefer way better actual sound comparisons. Great work. Thanks

    1a- model D, 1b - muse
    2a - muse 2b - model d(this one is close)
    3a - model d - 3a - Muse
    4a - muse 4b - model d
    5a model d - 5b - muse
    6a - muse 6b - model d
    7a - model d 7b - muse
    8a - muse 8b - model d
    Model d sounds brighter, more raw, and more low end.

    I bought this Moog Muse, was crazy about it and here comes the thing: Unfortunately, "Moog Muse" has terribly disappointed me.. To turn on this keyboard it takes more than a minute (!).. Functions do not work properly, lights go on and off quickly and without meaning. The speed of the envelope generators is WAY too slow.. Chords played faster produce unwanted fast arpeggios. I tested everything and even the new software (1.2) did not fix these serious bugs, so I have to warn about it.. Detuning is a big problem, even the tuning function does not work. The keyboard froze even after programming faster sequences.. The overall sound was thin and not as fat as my old Moog products (Mini Moog, Memory Moog). My impression: This instrument is too digitally controlled inside by very slow and in the worst case... often incomplete processing. I returned the Moog Muse to the seller and I have to say, there is something very wrong with this new Moog and it doesn't sound like a typical Moog at all!
    Too many other synths sound fuller, richer and faster (envelope generators) and the filter here doesn't do what it promises!!
    Forget about actual "Moog" products. They are not what they promise and what they say they are.
    Direct comparison with my old Sequential Circuit products for example .. and many intensive tests finally opened my eyes after many hours, folks.
    Wake up... and stop believing in any advertisement for Moog... I'm sorry for all of you who fell into this trap like me.
    Sooner or later you will confirm what I am writing here.

    How hard is it to replicate a sound that just uses very basic waveforms? Not hard. Especially if they have the same filter.
