So, is my 1978 FLH a classic, it has 3G as part of the engine number as the one on this Harley? I really love seeing the bikes in your uploads. Thanks for posting.
todd. you should do a video on how to put on and set points and condenser on one of these old bikes. the ones TH-cam now stink. they don't go into nearly as much detail as you would.
Gary Bang, as far as I know, is the last of the old timer's who 1st started reproducing Harley Parts. He is still alive, in his 80's. He owns and runs Gary bang Harley Davidson in Atascadero California. He would know.
Hi Todd, I've always wondered what type of handlebars those are? Are they simply beachbars...? Also, would they naturally fit on my '72 FLHP? Thanks for all the way cool vids over the years and take care from Seattle!
every junker you present in your collection or for sale has to be disassembled and a fucking ritual performed before starting, embarrassing at best.all my shitbox junker, rat bikes were set up to run like a whore on payday, looks don't mean shit, a starting, running, reliable bike is worth its weight. hang in there and set it up right!
Call me a wuss but this is why I waited for EFI before I took the 'Harley' plunge. Rice was way more dependable than HD before their engineers pulled their heads out of their asses and got with the 21st century. I've had 3 EFI Harleys now and they're just so fucking BORING. They start all the time and run great...YAWN!! lol
Hey Todd, I have re learned a lot from you and am learning even more. THANK YOU. I'm looking at a 98 FatBoy with a little over 50k. My question is, is that considered "high" milage? Thank you.
That's a cool bike for sure, as good as all the chrome looks you can definitely tell someone took care of it. Todd what was the first year of the classic? I herd you call it a classic and it just caught my ear...thank brotha -Jaime
I was told that 1988 and older were 100% American. I'm not sure. I also heard in the good old AMF days they used quite a bit of outsourced parts. Then when Willie G and the gang bought them back they tried to go with all American parts, but in this global economy we live in that's pretty damn hard.
Woopsie that didn't go as planned. I kinda laughed cause I sometimes forget 30+ for a machine doesn't mean the same as a person. Cause I was laughing and thinking come on really? This thing's only as old as Gladis 1 of my sisters in law and it won't boot? I mean come on. But yeah I then remembered oh yeah 30 something is really old for a machine.
This bike is owesome, allways i wana to buy showel flh, bt in our fkng country we cant buy its by normal price, too high taxes about three times from nominal
it is not the size of the bike, it is can I resell and make any money. Sometimes Sportster's are the ONLY bikes I can make money on. Right now, I cannot
There is an on-off' switch next to the throttle, next to the original starter button. Make sure it's on. I have one just like it, had it for years and still love it.
I'll send you a message to your facebook wit numbers when I get home I'm at my sons graduation dinner.I really would like to know before I start slapping it together.
I picked up a 1980 FLH80 out of NC
Mike, you always knew your stuff, miss ya, Pappy died rode to the end.
A ratchet really doesn't cost that much...LOL !! Great video, Thanks for sharing !!
2 tones are sweet! Nice bike!
Beautiful bike, hope to hear it soon
I could happily ride that bike all day!

Dyna S is probably the best Electronic out there. That said, if it goes bad, your still stuck

That was Harley's designation for the 3G motors this year
Why don't you use the earth pole on the battery
I could write a book with what this guy does not know
Why don't you?
@HuntingHarleys I bought a Kick Starter by V-Twin for install it in my FLH 78 1200cc. It's a cool Kick?

perhaps in time. If I am tuning one, then I will
good lookin bike Todd , couldn't hear well but wonder if points or electronic
it's an electronic ignition that died, typical, and leaves you dead stranded, I hate them. points gets you home
Well what I meant was cheaper after market parts for v -twins I guess .

1977 Jaime, very few 80 inch classics were made then. But they were called an FLHS, which become the "classic" in 1978.
Ok thanks for that Todd I was just wondering about it that's all.
I have a 1980 FLH 80. how can you tell the difference between 13 and 11200cc?
it's all in the motor / frame numbers. Assuming the engine displacement has not been altered
you still have any smaller bikes
you mean Sportsters? or?
To your knowledge when did oriental parts start showing up on the market ?
late 1950's Japan was bringing bikes and cars into the USA

@@jeffreyponting9524 Harley has been using Showa forks, since the 70's. They were Japanese.
Crazy how only fifteen years after the war the Japanese would begin their take over of the American automotive market.
