Lost my princess bernesian mudhug 4 days ago after 11 years of love, luck and relaxation. Raised her from exactly what you have there. Cant tell you how heartbroken i feel. Lost the other cuddle bear 3 years ago. Though we have two little kids, the house never seemed so quiet and empty. This video made me smile from my heart the first time since. Thank you very much. It's such an incredible breed. I know what you mean, no dog, no matter how long their lifespan is enough. That being said we are doing our best to help the breed live longer happier lives! :)
Just a quick thing - Bernese good bois live a really long life for a big dog, despite of general life span posted online. I have now a 3rd dog of this breed, just fyi. 1st, lived good almost 14 years (7, of these were after having TWO sunstrokes in one summer due to a really bad keeper he was left with) 2nd one lived 2 years, I did put her to sleep earlier because me and my family decided we didn't want her to suffer problems with back legs like our first good boie did, + she went thru really bad pregnancy in her later years (she and our first bernese lived together for about 6 years) that damaged her badly in terms of health AND she was abused by her first owner in first 6/8 months of her life. If they are given proper healthcare they can really live a long life full of love and happiness.
Kim S Their lifespan definitely isn’t that short when you buy from a good reputable breeder and when you watch their weight the first year they grow. They will not have the typical hip problems if you keep them on the leaner side. Thats what we did with our berner and he is perfectly healthy and i’m pretty sure we will have a long time with him :)

Aww thanks so much! Makes my day reading comments like these! People ask me that all the time haha! The short answer is we live in Los Angeles and these dogs deserve to be in the mountains (they don't do well in hot weather). That being said we have the handsome Great Dane Baloo who just turned 1 today and our little rescue poodle mix paxton!

My brother had a Bernese mountain, he passed away at the end of MARCH 2020! He was the family dog, we miss him so much. We had him for my autistic nephew but tragically by brother had a car accident and DUKE became his guide dog. He was full of love. Now, I am looking for a Bernese mountain as I too have an autistic son and another kid with another disability, by experience these dogs are great for therapy, but most of all they give so much love. They love to cuddle. They are big teddy bears!!

We got our Baxter last September. He was born in early July . Thinks he is a lap dog, still nipping, and weighs 110 pounds. Should we wait until he is a year to neuter him?
We like to say wait anywhere from 18 months to 2 years old for the to reach full maturity but that varies case to case! Is he nipping or mouthing (putting your hand and arm more gently in his mouth kinda thing)?

Hey Trish! Thanks so much for watching! If you are asking a Bernese Mountain Dog family we would say we prefer purebred but thats a whole different topic of conversation. We love Bernese Mountains Dogs and want to do the best we can to improve the breed both in health and happiness! When you mix purebreds you are doing the opposite. That being said I think it depends on your intention, if its a purposeful mix vs exploiting for the wrong reasons like money which has happened in the doodle world. If you are looking for the qualities of a Bernese Mountain dog but are allergic to fur, mixing is not going to create a hypoallergenic Bernese, its going to create a completely different dog with a different set of traits. I am not aware of a specific Bernese Mountain dog rescue off hand but I can do some research and get back to you on this! I know there are a bunch out there!
Hi Trish, just commenting, but as a Bernese owner, I am against intentional cross breeding, especially with the Bernese Mountain dog. Number 1 reason, it takes away from their gene pool. They are a special and not very common breed and need to be preserved that way I feel. People like Morgan's family are trying too hard to improve the breed lines to have that work taken away. The guy that first crossed for the Golden-doodle realized he'd made a mistake, learning that what he crossed now has their own set of health issues. I'm sorry, but no designer dogs, especially from the Bernese or any of the other Swiss dog lines.
Moms trying to keep them all haha but we might keep one! They are so so hard to let go, they all feel like your own when take care of them, play with them and hold them all day. Such little floofs!

I made it to one minute and had to stop. They all look like our beloved Heidi who went to Berner Heaven in March. There might be such a thing as too many of some dogs, but not of Berners. P.S. - She lived to the ripe old age of 12. I'm convinced it's because we spoiled her!

Yeah pet store dogs don’t matter apparently. All dogs need homes. I don’t understand why people don’t get this. I’m all for rescues but doesn’t mean all dogs don’t need a loving family

I made it to one minute and had to stop. They all look like our beloved Heidi who went to Berner Heaven in March. There might be such a thing as too many of some dogs, but not of Berners. P.S. - She lived to the ripe old age of 12. I'm convinced it's because we spoiled her!

Hey Morgan! We have a 6 month old Berner ourselves! However even with weekly bath time and white on white shampoo can never get our little mans chest as white as you guys do! How much and long do you guys leave the shampoo on for? Love to know if you have any tips or tricks! Thanks! Love your videos!!

Yeah pet store dogs don’t matter apparently. All dogs need homes. I don’t understand why people don’t get this. I’m all for rescues but doesn’t mean all dogs don’t need a loving family
