We used to have a Bernese Mountain Dog, and when it rained, we always tried to dry him off a bit to keep the house clean. And he always smushed his face into the towels that exact same way. We always thought it was because he'd have water in his eyes and was irritated by it. And yeah, a Bernese leaning into you with all his weight can be a surprising amount of force. Unfortunately my current home doesn't allow pets of any kind so I can't adopt. Soon...
I’m so sorry about losing your friend and him being abused. You have nothing to feel guilty about. But definitely helping dogs out at the shelter would benefit you. I used to walk the shelter dogs and it was a great experience. I couldn’t adopt at the time.
He is beautiful, I have a 2yr old male bernese x labrador, he is the most empathetic gorgeous happy boy, he tries to dry himself with his mitts when he gets wet. He is so funny and clever and the best decision I've ever made. ❤
When I worked as a dog walker, Bernese were one of the breeds I feel in love with completely. I walked several of different walks of life they were all so fantastic. Others were Greyhounds, Dobermans, Poodles, Boston Terriers, and Whippets.
My sister lived in a mountain town in British Columbia and had 3 rescue Bernese Mountain Dogs as well as a Collie, a Spaniel and a little British Bulldog! All her dogs were well trained and well socialized and the Berners were definitely super sweet !!
I have got two Bernese and I have to agree, they are the sweetest souls. I feel so fortunate, every day is a blessing when you own these incredible dogs
One of my favourite things about my old job was that I'd walk past a Bernese out for their morning stroll at the same time every day, I came to know them as "Notorious B.M.D. aka Big Berner" exclusively in my brain until just now. Absolutely gorgeous dogs!
Best wishes to you, Steve. ❤ After my brother-in-law died, nothing could get my sister's 3 young teenaged sons (and her) out of depression, until they got a labradoodle puppy. Then, despite the intense grief, there was also joy, and smiles, and unconditional LOVE, freely given by that lovely canine soul. A dog will certainly help - the exercise from the daily walks and playtime will help lift your mood, the absolute love and joy and acceptance they give, and the love and care that YOU give to THEM - your heart and psyche will heal... Again, best wishes, Steve! ❤
They're such a beautiful and sweet breed, what's not to love? (Btw, Vanessa, have you ever worked on an Irish Wolfhound? I saw a family walking one the other day, and he was taller than their 13 year old son, who was walking him.)
They are without a doubt the sweetest breed EVER. In fact, Berners are known to be the quietest breed. My boy is 6.5 yrs and thinks he a lap dog and also loves "mothering" newborn kittens❤
The canine love of my life was a Bernese named Lux. She was brought to the local shelter after being rescued from a backyard breeder. Despite having suffered from neglect and over-breeding, she was the sweetest, most loving, and most gorgeous fluffball in the world. She suffered from a lot of health problems and cost us a lot in vet bills but she was 100% worth it. Best dogs in the world in my opinion. Emmett is so handsome, and what a stunning groom!
Oh man, this hits home. Just had to give my bernese x collie up. She was the perfect dog. So chill at times yet so clever and easy to train. Although when she was excited/ not stimulated enough, she was basically a tank with ADHD. Shes with a wonderful family, though. That's all I can ask for
one of my closest friends in middle school had a gigantic, lazy, loving bernese mountain dog and i have been a huge fan of the breed ever since. i’ve yet to meet a better family dog than her
A few decades ago when I was a school kid I walked past a farmer in my village who had one chained to the gutter of his house so the dog could walk the entire length of the big farmhouse. The dog would every day back out of his chain so it would slip off, play with us at the bus stop and then put his chain back around his neck xD what a intelligent lovely dog.
Me and my parents have and had Bernese, my parents still have one, a rescue this time, the others we had from Puppy stage. Our oldest Berner got to 14 years old, which is quite impressive since the average is 7 to 10 years. He was the best dog to wish for and in my youth helped me through bullying and depression. One time I was so sad and he came and snuggled up to and wouldn't even let my mom get close to comfort me his coat was wet from my tears but he stayed firmly on my lap till I calmed down. Even our than puppy female who normally he let do anything to him had to learn the hard way that at this time coming close was a big no. Even after that he would stay close to me the whole evening until I got to bed.
If you ever get the chance, you should do their sister breed, Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs! My family's breed of choice growing up; they have the biggest hearts and the smallest brains. Lovely video!
Such a lovely, gentle breed. He looks purebred, although you say he is a mix. I am convinced that the reason dogs don't like having their paw pads shaved is because it tickles. There's something about how they flinch that says ticklish to me.
AWWW, I love Bernese Mountain Dogs, they're so gorgeous and sweet. There was one at the lake when I was little, his name was Bear (and he looked like one!)
I will never understand how dogs, so brave in so many ways, get so terrified and beside themselves about a bath, or getting wet. When at any moment they would be quite happy to dive into a filthy duck pond. Had a rough collie years ago who was such a good boy in a canoe, but could not bear to get his paws wet exiting the boat. It was a whole dramatic thing. However, once we had landed and he was safe and dry ashore, he would wade right into that self same water. 🤣
@@QUICKBOOKS1 Yup! Gotta disguise their doggie smell... The absolute WORST for me was when my dog rolled in some meat in barbeque sauce that someone had tossed - raw - over a fence where we let our dogs run, and it had rotten for god knows how long in the sun. Thankfully, my guy didn't EAT it, but he DID roll in it, and it took FOREVER to get that stench off him. Oh, right, and THEN there was the 1st skunk spray one late March when we had just moved back home. Had forgotten about those rotters, and when my dog went to chase "a cat" (and I KNEW he wouldn't hurt it, as he had done all of the "mommy stuff" for some abandoned new-born kittens that had been tossed into a dumpster at birth. The rescue person I had gotten my dog from asked me to care for them for a time. Whilst I was bottle-feeding them, my adolescent chow--chow mix would sit arrow straight, watching intently. As soon as I was finished, he'd lick them clean head to tail, then sit back down and wait for the next. He also would let all five of them climb all over him, search for his teats, and would lick, cuddle and "mother" them.). Alas, though, that weirdly-arched "cat" turned out to be skunk just out of hibernation, and my guy got a full-on shot spray in the face. Oh MY, that was hard to get out. I went through every tin of tomatoes, mushing it into his fur/ then washing it out - outside in the below zero temps. Didn't work. Tried baking soda, and all of the shampoos. Didn't work. Looked it up online, and tried the hydrogen peroxide + baking soda. Worked a little, or maybe it was just the FIVE FULL SHAMPOOS + final conditoner later. His collar/ reflective vest (he was a gorgeous jet black) stayed outside overnight, then soaked and washed, and washed, and washed... Months later, I could STILL bloody smell it. 😞 Argh and UGH! I'll take good clean mud any day... 😀 Cheers!
Just want to say, this is the kind of channel that deserves a lot of viewers. Not somebody just randomly recording their pets, but a professional showing her skills and knowledge.
What a beautiful boy. He reminded me of our dog, Heidi. Although she was a different breed (a St Bernard) his expressions and colouring reminded me so much of her. Thank you for the memories. xxx
He’s like someone took a colouring page of a Golden Retriever but coloured it in as a Bernese Mountain Dog.
That could be a very good thing. Hopefully he will have a long and healthy Golden Retriever life with a great Bernese Mountain Dog attitude.

Absolutely, my mom's dream dog is a wolfhound ❤
He's beautiful ❤
I have a Berner and he is absolutely the sweetest calmest goodest boy ever! The bigger the dog the bigger the heart ❤
👍👍!
These dogs are great judges of character. Emmet is a fine looking example of the breed especially after your great work.
His little face absolutely melts my heart! What a sweet baby ❤️
Emmett is so handsome, and what a stunning groom!
what a beautiful canine.
His facial expressions and gentle protests make him so endearing. What a precious boy! ❤😊
My dad loves this breed, but our house is too small for a dog of their size. Such sweet babies!
Oh man, this hits home. Just had to give my bernese x collie up. She was the perfect dog. So chill at times yet so clever and easy to train. Although when she was excited/ not stimulated enough, she was basically a tank with ADHD.
Shes with a wonderful family, though. That's all I can ask for
one of my closest friends in middle school had a gigantic, lazy, loving bernese mountain dog and i have been a huge fan of the breed ever since. i’ve yet to meet a better family dog than her
Pretty chilled bear.
That guy! He got better and better as you went along. A million blessings Emmett.
I know you work very hard but I’m envious of all the beautiful dogs you get to spend time with! All of their varied personalities are a treat.
Emmett:"It's not that I'm nervous. It's just that the food to shampoo ratio is lacking. Going to speak to management about this..."🤔
Wonderful dog, Emmet has such expressive eyes and full of character. And he has a lovely Irish name too
Best dog we ever had when i was a kid! Just big and gentle. I miss him everyday and hope that one day i get to have one myself
My last dog was a Bernese Mountain dog mix and he was the most gentle creature I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They're such precious dogs.
A puppy....! He is huge! ....And *so* adorable. Thank you for sharing your day, and your job.
I love Bernese so much. They’re beautiful souls and truly angels. It’s a huge shame that they have such short lifespans.
These days I was searching for this bread of dogs, my fav ones are these. The cuties! 😍
They’re super cute!!
AWWW, I love Bernese Mountain Dogs, they're so gorgeous and sweet. There was one at the lake when I was little, his name was Bear (and he looked like one!)
My goodness he is so cute.. Such a good boy.
😀 Loved your last comment. ❤ So true! Cheers!
The stinkier the better? Niles loved Mud!
😀 Cheers!
That face at the end says it all 😅
I've watched a bunch of your videos now and you sure good at what you do and knowledgeable about a lot of breeds.
Thank you for the memories. xxx
just wanted to leave a quick comment to say how much I love these videos. they're all good boys lol
I remember my friend's Bernese mountain dog who was terrified of our miniature schnauzers.
