I'm living in the Black Forest. And for me, the most beautyfull time is late autumn. The colorfull leaves and foggy days gives this time a very special feeling.
i am from the ruhrgebiet, and when i was 5-6years old my parents started driving to the black forest over the autumn holidays till i was around 15... its a really great area to spent your holidays in during that time
Paddy O yes Schluchsee like she said but there’s also Titisee, they have a lovely campground and the village is touristy but I thought I’d mention it because everyone I’ve taken there seems to love it! You can hop on the train there to go for a day trip to Freiburg (40 min ride) I wouldn’t drive there. We get a free Konus card to use for buses and trains when we stay at a gasthouse so maybe u can get it at a campground too. The red train that runs all thru this area is Höllentalbahn, wonderful scenery for when u want a break from driving.
This reminds me of the summer in the 1960s when my parents drove us 6 kids around Europe in the VW van. As we were driving through the Black Forest, my sister and I were arguing in the back seat. My Dad said, "Girls, look where we are! See if you can see Hansel and Gretel." After that, we looked intently out the window searching for the witch's gingerbread house.
Schönes Video, wir bereisen die ganze Welt und wissen oft nicht wie schön es vor der eigenen Tür ist! Mein nächster Trip geht in den Schwarzwald! Liebe Grüße aus Cologne, Germany
I am from the Black Forest xD it's great to see other people explore these woods that I used to play in as a kid. it was just kinda normal but you are right we should appreciate the nature where ever we are because there is beauty everywhere to be found. you should visit Freiburg, it is a city a little bit further south at the edge of the Black Forest. It is the sunniest city in Germany and is very unique and has great vibes.
I was born in Freudenstadt and moved to Australia when i was a child. Growing up our parents used to drag us to the grampians from south Australia and drive up the great ocean road and the 12 apostles.
If you are in Black forest again, you have to visit the schluchsee, which is the biggest lake in Black Forest, and climb one of the southern mountain like the Belchen or the Herzogenhorn!
@@kingozymandias2988 are you sure you are talking about schluchsee? It is very big, about 18km around and there are some beautiful cliffs and hidden beaches
A German "Nixe" is basically a mermaid and like mermaids often depicted with an upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Nixen (plural) are not only creatures of the sea, but can be also found in legends of rivers and lakes.
the black forest in summer is just amazing - nice views and its not too hot so its just perfect but what i like even more is when you come in autum and you are out with the last hour of sunlight, it gets foggy maybe a small rain starts and you walk around the outsides of a smaller vilage maybe even go into the forest - thats just magical but dont forget your hot tea when you come back because that just makes the experience
Instead of driving down the B500 which is boring, sway down on the smaller roads doing an S shape route from left to right, crossing the B500 a couple of times. Gaggenau, Gernsbach, Wolfach, Schiltach, Schramberg, Hornberg, Gutach, Titisee, Feldberg, Todtnau, Todtmoos, Kandern Schluchsee, ...
Honestly? Ive living for 30~ years in Germany. but never been to the Black forest. After seeing this, ive seriously considerying this - ty! as u both said, the beauty is right beneath your window (sometimes)

You need to go to the Casino... I'm not sure what kind of person you'd have to be to feel "at home"... But you have to be properly overconfident and nouveau riche OR actual European nobility to not feel inappropriate there :D
one of my all time fave roadtrips was the Great Ocean Road in Australia. Seeing this video of you driving along with that scenery, the sun shining and wind in your hair "feeling free" - it took me back!
I live in BC Canada and my favourite road trip is down Highway 101 from Washington State to San Diego, we have done it many times over a 30 day period...slow road down and freeway back home...
I have watched too many travel vlogs. Some have millions of subs and others not so much. After all that I have found that you are so refreshing. I feel like you share what you are experiencing in your words and not trying to please your audience. Bonus is all the laughter and smiles. Makes everything so much better. Many thank you for sharing and please continue.
When you are back in the U.S. - one of my favorite road trips is the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Mississippi - beautiful nature, waterfalls and trails, Native American mounds, and even Elvis’s childhood home in Tupelo. Great trip in autumn or spring.
Thanks alot will definitely visit the Abbey and waterfall and blick after my broken legs has healed after sledging in the BF !! Great place for snowshoeing however and safer than sledging ! So many trails to follow good one is Weidner Eck to Belchen
So beautiful . It reminds me of Oregon. Are the trees pines?? they look more like some type of fir. I love to hear about the birds, but would also love if you could talk about flowers , plants, and trees.
The Black Forest is stunning! I'm going to have to follow your route through it and try that cake too. Favorite road trips: anytime I've driven through the Canadian or American Rockies and in Kenya from the Mt. Kenya highlands then west through the Rift Valley.
I live in Badenweiler in the BF famous fot it's thermal baths and nearby is a wonderful quiet lake called Nonnenmatweier well worth visiting as is the Belchen mountain walking from Haldenhoff about 5 hrs there and back or you can do a round trip and come back via Munstertal. There is a bus starting in May till October from Badenweiler to Haldenhof. Another great trek is Wutahsclucht through a gorge.
Served in the British Army. and we worked in the black forest. making fire breaks in the forests and updating foot bridges. which you probably walked over. its a great place. people were very nice
well - go ! if u prove a negative test you can enter gemany as far as i know..- ill travel germany in 2 weeks too ( wee since im german it wont be a problem for me, but still- its possible for you) best wishes and see ya on the road :)
You guys did it again! We are in Bavaria atm because of your vlog, and now we found our next destination. After another few more days in the Alps we are off to the blackforrest! Thanks guys!
Hope you had time to enjoy Baden Baden. It's one of the most beautiful spa towns ever. If its open, go to the Caracalla Therme Spa and you have to check out the casino and the walk up the mountain is amazing! Another great little town to visit is Strasbourg. It's part of France now but was part of Germany. The. great thing about this town is the German Architecture mixed in with the French culture and food.
We loved hwy 101 between Oregon and San Francisco. We preferred it to the lower half of 101 between SF and LA (because redwoods!). BUT!!! If you like water and you like road trips... We loved route 132 in the Gaspésie region of Québec, Canada. It hugs the ocean so close that when the waves crashed against the rocks, we ended up with water in our laps (we probably should have put the top up on our Mazda MX5 - but that's no fun!). If it's not too much like home, the maritime provinces of Canada are really picturesque. If I only had a short while, I'd drive the Gaspésie and Prince Edward Island (though some might say the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia). Love the road trips!!! Esp. in a convertible. Anthony
Thank you for sharing your video! I really enjoyed it. Here in Roanoke, Virginia USA, we just ate at a German restaurant with cuisine from the Black Forrest region. So, I was inspired to look up Black Forrest. If I happen in Germany, would love to go!
I'm a local and love people enjoying nature. but since tourism booms in the black forest i notice a lot more trash especially in the touristy areas. people from outside trash this beautiful forest and I find it kind of disrespectful towards the locals, it is our backyard basically. if you want to enjoy black forest with no trash try going deeper into the forest, its a lot more clean, calm and wild where tourists don't go.
My place of awe is in nature walking through a forest but my place of peace and serenity is the beach. That cake looked amazing and then you said you could taste the alcohol....what! Girl I am sold!! Need to try!😁
We have a Black Forest State Park in Pennsylvania. It has a 42 mile loop path and is great for backpacking. I could really sense the love and pleasure you get from being out in nature. I sense that love that as well.
As an American who has never been to Germany I have to protest the paucity of sausage eating in your recent videos. I know they're better than anything thing I can get here so watching your pleasure eating them is the next best thing. Oh, and the scenery is great too.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.I have a plan to go Berlin next week and this video very helpful for me to spend one day at Black forest. Thank you from Pakistan.
i would rather have the raspberry than cherry with the cake. i've had it several times since i used to study german and traveled there. schwartzwald is my favorite place to go.
I can give you a good road trip. The whole length of Majorca. From Palma, over to Andratx, then along the northernmost motorway all the way to the northern tip. I did a third of this on a bus early morning and mist sat atop the villages, with an incredible view of the sea on one side and the light flooding over the mountains on the other side. You could make a day of that and easily a week on the island.
Best drives I've done so far are the obvious highway 1 in California (do it in southerly direction) - The Rim of the world highway (also California) from San Bernardino to Joshua tree NP - and lastly a drive from Hell-bourg to Cilaos on the island of Réunion. The towns are located a mere 8 km apart, but the route by car will take a minimum of 120 km (and you must do a detour to the Piton de la fournaise).
I was blown away by the advertising in front of your video (of course from your video too). But I'm from Münsterland a region in north-west Germany and the advertising was about to travel to Münsterland. Didn't know that my region has this kind of advertising. So, now it is easy for me to mention a destination for a road trip: of course it is Münsterland. And if you want to do it like a true Münsterländer you make this road trip by bike. Don't miss all the Wasserschlösser (castles surrounded by water) that are typical for this region and of course the beautiful capital of this region Münster with the Prinzipalmarkt.
I've done road trips in South Africa and Namibia and the Pacific Coast Highway. But in Europe an interesting one I did was from the Orava region of Slovakia down to Athens in Greece, going through, Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia and then into Greece. How the country changes, from alpine to hot. Southern Serbia (south of Nis) and into Macedonia surprised me the most, really beautiful country and the line where the European climate regions change, from temperate to hot is most noticeable, for me anyway.
My favorite road trip was through Andalucia region in Spain. Starting in Malaga then going through Ronda, Gibraltar, Seville, Cordova, and up to Madrid.
Oh my gosh this activated a memory from like fifteen years ago when I went on a youth orchestra trip and stayed in Baden Baden!! Totally forgot where it was lol. Beautiful area though but could never get used to the fizzy tap water...
If you come to the US you need to do the Redwood Highway from Grant’s Pass Oregon to Crescent City, Ca. Epic river views, mountains, the Giant Redwoods tallest trees in the world, (many over 110 meters)and the Pacific Coast at the end- epically beautiful.
Roadtrip I did. Slovakia - Hungary - Serbia - Macedonia - Greece. You go from Alpine to semi-desert and sea. Southern Serbia and Macedonia are gorgeous. Macedonia charges you 50 euro to drive through their country. Greece has expensive toll roads on the motorways
Great to see you enjoying the scenery in Black Forest. I live in Tübingen, a very beautiful university town not far from there. I own an old VW T3 Syncro and love going on road trips. So if you ever wanna come to the are again and need someone to show you around, please let me know!
Pacific Coast Highway between Santa Barbara and Monterey. I have driven it many times, but only twice with perfect weather. Emma, this is NOT a fun drive if you suffer from motion sickness. There are many, many hairpin turns. But, oh my, the scenery, the fresh air (maybe not so much right now with the fires) and the views. It's just wonderful!
Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains (of Virginia, the home of the lonesome pine) is pretty epic. I used to mine my awe in the Lake District, done some weird and stupid things there, including involving the Mountain Rescue service. I swung my car pine air freshener while you were in the forest to get the full effect, not having smell-o-vision yet.
Our favourite road trip (if you can call it a road trip) was hitchhiking 23,000 kilometres from Thailand to Spain. Many cars, many adventures and lots of nature 😊 Now we’re converting a van in Spain and are hoping for lots of cool road trips around Europe next year. When are you planning on building your home on wheels? Maybe we’ll do a road trip together next year 😊😊😊
Are you guys going to visit the Burg Hohenzollern and Konstanz ? ALso if you like areas like Black FOrest with amazing nature you should visit once Thüringer Wald (Eisenach, Ilmenau), Harz (Wernigerode, Gosslar, Quedlinburg, Brocken) and Erz (Basteibrücke, Dresden, Pirna)
One of our favourite holidays ever was we drove from Sydney to Cooktown and back over 3 1/2 weeks. We went inland first through outback Queensland, drove to Port Douglas, stayed there for a few days and from there did a day trip to Cooktown. Then we drove all the way down the east coast all the way back to Sydney. Did this staying in accommodation along the way. Our family loved it so much! Want to do another one soon! Waiting for state borders in Australia to reopen!
One of my favorite areas in GER is the "Lahntal" (Lahn Valley) in the state of Hesse. If you choose to visit it, take the regional train from Limburg to Koblenz and make sure to take seats on the right hand side. Best time of the year is summer/early fall.
Very nice video, your editing skills/voice over are going through the roof ! As to answer your question about "what is "your all", for me it s diverse but always linked to nature. it can be as simple as walking barefoot in the grass full of morning dew, being the only vertical link walking between immense sky and flat earth, feel the wind tangle my hair, or more "special" like to curl up in the sea as the waves or currents craddle me, or marvel at flora/fauna wildlife business and neverstopping matters.
Thank you for the video. May I know which month did you guys visit black forest? August 2020? And for how many days in total? Thank you. It would be great to write down your traveling dates in the description. That'll be helpful for people who want to plan their trips. Many thanks:)
Best road trip: San Francisco to San Diego. That creek cascading down a hill/mountain, through ponds and waterfalls mostly in a yery, very closely valley is called "Klamm" (clammy) in german.
Lots of great road trips in the US. Classics like the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Oregon and countless routes through the Rocky Mountains, as well as lesser known routes, in New England and the Carolinas.

I live near Frankfurt, which was hugely destroyed at the end of ww2. But small cities around are frozen in time. Just stunning.
Are you from Deutschland
I was born in Heidelberg. I live in America now, have been back many times, though. Such a small country and yet so much beauty.
If you find yourselves on the east side of the US check out the Blue Ridge Parkway and be sure to stop off in the city of Asheville.
Living vicariously through your videos. Our trip to Germany was cancelled due to the plague, can't wait to get back there.

Schwarzwald,Home!!!! 😍😍😍
very beautiful
Heute nice sharing 💜💜💜👍
When I was in Black Forest I visited a place where they made cuckoo clocks
Glad you made that trip brought back lots of memories! 70s 80s squirrels are fox squirrels
Many cars, many adventures and lots of nature 😊
Now we’re converting a van in Spain and are hoping for lots of cool road trips around Europe next year.
When are you planning on building your home on wheels? Maybe we’ll do a road trip together next year 😊😊😊
Highway 1 in California, where I'm from, is a famous road trip.
We also just roadtripped most of the South Island of NZ last January. Another fantastic trip.
One of my favorite areas in GER is the "Lahntal" (Lahn Valley) in the state of Hesse. If you choose to visit it, take the regional train from Limburg to Koblenz and make sure to take seats on the right hand side. Best time of the year is summer/early fall.
great vid guys!
At least thx for Sharing u experience of my Homeland. Good to see ull enjoy it.
I just found this channel and im so glad. You two are very charming and informative
