I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.

I would rather buy a beater car than own a new one. Don't want to be in debt for years. Don't need the bells and whistles.
Nothing worth owning built since 2002
Smart Man., or Woman.❤
New cars have poor quality. The CEOs need more money so they cut quality to get it.
@@sarahstephens5966 Looking to buy a new vehicle soon, and I'm looking at nothing newer than 2018. Probably a used 4runner. Buying it cash.
I have yet to see a car that has any bells or whistles. 😮
Newer vehicles are straight up trash. Anyone that buys a new vehicle is crazy. These CEOs have been forcing these POS vehicles on the market for a long time now. People are fed up.
My new Kia Soul is nothing but plastic EVERYWHERE! Everywhere. If this thing hits ANYTHING it will probably be totaled. I'm especially concerned about people coming up behind me when I'm sitting in queue.
I had my 1993 camery towed last week, The tow truck driver said he was towing in 2024 vehicles having problems. One of the cars only had 308 miles on it.
Really? LOL
I have a 2017 and a 2019. Neither has had any significant repairs, just one software update and two sets of tires. Since 1970 I have bought vehicles from Chevy, Ford, Dodge. None went as long as these two other than a couple of Hondas.
The best was a Ford Aerostar. I fondly recall driving around with a roll of duct tape which seemed to always be needed.
Off the topic, living in the North East, undercoating was something dealers loved selling. In all my years I had one car, VW, rust. I also had one car "rustproofed." Yes that was the same VW.
@@melissaohio My 2021 Honda Civic Sport had 80 miles on it and I had it a week when I needed service. Was parked in a parking lot at work and the battery was already dead. It had a faulty battery from sitting on the lot for 6 months without being driven once (I bought it at 8 miles on the OD, and that includes my test drive miles). It was covered under warranty and I haven't had a single problem since. The current used price on it is just a couple thousand less than what I drove it off the lot as.
AMEN!! They need to stop manufacturing vehicles at this pace. I mean, there are literally millions of unowned vehicles everywhere. This country is INSANE!!!! Corporate Greed.
Good Lord, a 2020 with 167,000 miles!!! Damn thing never cooled off!!!😉😁

@@vladimus9749Yupp this! Nicest vehicle I’ve had delivery for was in a new E Class. My city you’ll see someone in a $75k High County; just upside down idiots who took PPP/stimulus money and got in over their heads
There beating me i have toyota corolla that is 2020 with 135,332 miles on it
They might have one car our used it worked and travel
One of my first thoughts, too. Especially on the big Ford truck - if the previous owner was a contractor I would understand, but it looks way too clean and dent-free to be an ex-contractor owned truck.
13900 for a truck with over 100K miles? That's crazy
It's completely absurd !!!!
Still a better deal than buying the same truck new for $75,000. Imagine the repairs you do for a fraction of that amount of money? You could put a whole new engine in and not touch that.
@@Mrbfgrayin this day and age 13,900 for that truck i wouldn’t touch with a 10ft pole.
10k yea MAYBE.
@@sprinkleddonuts6094 IDK this market well enough, but that's not a lot given new truck prices.
Seems like all the cars that sold were still over priced for used stuff, the Subaru had the least mileage 88k and sold for 13k...crazy
Most of these cars belong in the junkyard. And people are financing these things for 5 years. What a disaster.
You're obviously not qualified to say such things
True bunch of lem9ns
@@sarahstephens5966 he is not lieing though
@@robthefarmer007 he’s right, even if you find something decent looking at a good price the quality of owners is 💩 they don’t take care of their cars. it’s just a problem that moved from one guy to the next. high interest rates alone would negate any perceived good deal. best to buy from friends and family at this point.
Most of these cars will be repo'd by Christmas.
Buddy of mine is a dealer, sold his lot three years ago lock stock and barrel. Today he advertises as a buyers agent. After small advertising, spot ads in regional paper, people contact him with what exactly they want. He goes to auctions, sends customers real time videos of cars. They make buying decision with ultimate high bid. He charges a flat fee, non refundable of $1000. People pay it, most of the time get the cars they want. He’s making money well above what he made as a mid to low price point dealer. Sign of the times? I used him to buy my daughter’s first car. 2020 Mazda CX50, 22k miles with a clean Carfax. It was immaculate, zero issues. At Sacramento auction, before dmv fees I paid $16000. $15k + his $1k. Unbeatable deal since this car would have sold for $20k plus at dealer lot.
That's a decent service
I considered using such a service, but got lucky and found a car myself rather quick. Got a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited in excellent condition for about $12k with about 80k. No tax as bought in NH. Of course, then paid tax when registered in MA. 😂 $1k tax, so basically what I'd pay for a finder service. Similar cars I saw going for 16-18k in the region, but that's with dealer markups.
Share his info
lol you paid someone $1000 for that ? You paid someone more money than they would have made selling you a car at a dealership 😂
The biggest problem with the cars over 100 k is your going to have to start replacing everything all the bushings and mounts are at the end of there life so keep that in mind
Bingo! Motor mounts, too.
I’m at 180k and it’s about time for motor and transmission mounts. That will be $1500 :(
@@ScottishTerrorsInLAwhat kind of vehicle is 1.5k for mounts??
Depends on the car. Every Toyota and Honda I've had didn't have to do any of that until they got to ~250k+. However, a US car, then definitely yes.
I have had so many good beaters bought for peanuts I just can’t see buying anything new expensive- too much risk at the high end when the high end should reduce risk- I don’t trust newer car technology

The cars that these dealers buy in this auction how much do they go for for sale on their lot?
How much in % do they ask for.
Let's say they buy a car for 10 thousand, how much do they ask the person that walks in their lot?
Thank you
Dealers aren’t stupid. They can sell some used cars for very little profit but make money via financing commissions. For example - they make $1K on the vehicle plus $2K matching the customer to a loan. Then occasional add ins like a warranty.
And they pass those savings directly to customers!
Insanity.
And the banks know that, hence why the loans are drying up, way to risky.
14k for that truck is already too much. And you know that dealer is going to try to get at least 25 out of it
Let's hope.
Nah, they would need about $3k for reconditioning, tires are expensive. Probably some other odds and ends. Probably list online for $19.5-20k. Also depends on the local market trends. Used is very market dependent.
@@scottcohen1776very market dependent. I’m looking for a couple different Cadillac’s I live in a downtown and everything is crazy priced, even the high 100k mileage inventory.
If I drive 100-200 miles away I can literally save $5k close to $10K if I don’t mind having 75k miles
These dealers can fuck themselves
Somebody will buy it - and the greed goes on...

More $ needs to be printed. Designed to fail. Then they print $ to oblivion to devalue purchasing power of $ Most people have no clue. Inflation is governmental grift.
The biggest danger with lifted 2015+ F-150's is that a lot of really ignorant guys cut the bars off the frame just behind the front wheels. Those are deflector bars that keep the wheels from decimating the aluminum floor pan/fire wall area where your legs are. Since those bars make it hard for guys to put big tires on their F-150, they often cut them off. Turns them into death traps and not many know to look for those bars before buying.
The silent protesters are out there more than ever in droves (yes, play on words) with keeping their old cars running as long as possible. The 200k mile club are accepting more and more new members every day. Layman people are finally realizing that a car can run essentially forever if maintained properly.

I'm 81 and just paid cash for a Kia Soul. My 2000 F350 was starting to $$ me with 167k on it. I expect to put about 3k/year on this which is a bit more than you're doing. Just went over 1300 on it after 7 months.
@leecowell8165 I had a job in which I spent many many hours driving. I am perfectly happy to stay home and get my groceries through instacart. I had to replace the tires last year not because they had worn out but because I live in Southern Arizona and they were totally going to be dangerous from sun rot.
What I like about you is that you explain what's going on in the car market. From what you're saying, it sounds like the economy could be in for some rough times because the consumer, for the most part, is tapped out. Their savings are almost gone and their credit cards are maxed out. People have cut way back and are only buying needs and not wants.
Any Carfax that shows the vehicle has gone thru an auto auction is an automatic huge red flag not to buy.
That's the case for most used vehicles unless they're trades and the dealer flipped it on their used lot. Do you research and get a PPI. Auctioned cars aren't a big deal if you do your due diligence.
Does Carfax actually show that in a normal report?

Hope all these dealers and manufacturers go under
They need a rude awakening for sure
Auto makers need to make bare bones trucks/cars again. I don’t need a huge gas guzzler truck with radar and cameras. Some of these large trucks don’t even fit in parking spots nowadays. wtf
They need to go back to making "American luxury" sedans. You know where they had bench seats that felt like being on a sofa and an easy suspension that doesn't make you feel every pebble and crack on the street.
All the local new truck dealers have basic bare bones trucks for sale, usually around $40K. They do seem to sell well. Seems people who buy actually want some of those extras.
$40,000 is too much for a bare bones truck new. The Maverick isn’t a truck, it’s an urban hauler with a 4 foot bed. Popular, yes, but not a truck. And try to find one at MSRP for the hybrid… impossible.
the fuel economy requirements are MUCH lower on trucks which is why all you see are giant SUV's and tiny shoe boxes it is calculated by the sqft footprint Call the EPA and tell them to get off the manufacturers' back they (manufacturers) will gladly build and sell mid-size vehicles again
I don't know what those dealers plan to do with all those cars. All the lots around me in Los Angeles are full to the brim. Lexus, Toyota, Honda and don't get me started on Dodge and Ford. Nobody is buying and the banks aren't lending. Everybody I see is already driving a new car, so what the hell are they going to do with all that inventory???
Subaru tip - Those little badges on the back left are only given to new buyers and link together. They are a real pain to even get, and the previous owner put effort into doing so.
I'd bet that Subaru was maintained exceptionally well, because that person keeps buying them.

The rav 4 got gently hooked on something under the wheelwell/front fendertbumper as they were pulling out. I had that happen to me and it popped fasteners but didn't do any damage but the seams never quite were the same under the light after wards.
I've been praying for decades for the stuff and fluff to get the hell out of trucks..... Apollo eleven didn't pack so much bull crap. They need to get back to reality again.
My 04 LeSabre runs so sweet up here in Alaska, I only use my 2000 GMC 4x4 when I have too.
I got a 95 Lexus es300 and a 95 Honda Accord both with more than 200,000 miles. But they run great, just regular wear and tear. I’ll be crazy if I bought a new car, don’t need the car payment.
I drive a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, super reliable. No payments.
Loving these videos ❤
I bought a VW New Beetle 2.0 convertible as "broken" for $3,100 and repaired it in the car garage with friends and with a new roof ordered in Germany. At the end it cost me $7,400 and it has 14,000 miles on it. 2.0L turbo.
I'd never take a out a loan for a car. It is an utility.
That Subaru may have sunroof drain hose that disconnected, which causes water to drain through the A pillar fabric.
Very common problem on early gen CTS models, and can happen to any car that's older and the drain hose shrinks or just has the clamp work loose.
You a car Vlogger in my opinion. Broadcasting your daily work life and informative commentary
Jeep? Ford? Not paying 30,40,50,000 for known reliability issues. And speaking of jeep wranglers. There must be an easy 70-100 jeep wranglers in the Mercedes overflow lot. I don’t understand that one
Love your videos. I’d like to know how much dealers pay as well as how much they plan to sell them for and how much most of them are making off these auction vehicles.
The land rover at 13:40...ur in NC right? What auction are you at on this one? Going to Kenly tomorrow to preview for monday, looking for LR4s and Pacificas, is this sale nearby?
Seeing those makes me very glad I found my Volt at the price and mileage I did.
No crimes covered up by the dog, steering wheel is ruff. 😂😂
That rav4 is a S12,000 or less (retail) vehicle here all day long.
I had a 2020 Toyota RAV4 from the rental company while my truck was in the body shop and to be honest with you it was a tin can of a noisy car I was shocked I thought it was going to be so much more refined than that
I bought a brand new honda accord hybrid EX-L and extremely happy with the purchase. Paid 35k financed through a credit union. Tech is high level and the comfort is amazing. I drive a lot so the hybrid was a must.. avg 54 mpgs. Theres nothing wrong with buying a new car.. stay within your means and get preapproved. Take your time stick to msrp. Maintain the car and its well worth it if keeping for 8+ yrs. If youre getting a new car every 3-5 yrs, you should consider leasing.
That RAV4 is probably one of those dumb vehicles that you need to remove the bumper cover to replace bulbs. Poor job putting it back on.
It is. I have replaced my friends light and it was an all day affair.
You gotta be kidding. I wonder if my Kia is like that? Probably not the 2024 has all its lights up high right under the hood so probably gotta get to mine through the hood. Most Kias are easy to work on...
"My old high school football injury. I didn't play football in high school." - true LOL :)
Man I’m 6’2” and I drove a Solstice for 5 years. Way more room than an old school Miata. I had to lean the seat back far as it could go and sat halfway up the back part of it. I even drove it back and forth from IL to FL 4 times. Still one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned.
Took my 2014 Equinox LTZ with 244,000 miles on it and had a 2015 46,000 mile engine installed along with a 2015 56,000 mile transmission put in it this past October and still have Zero car payment! Total spent for all parts and labor: just about $5,000.
Couldn’t find a comparable unit for under $25,000, with payments of about $450 a month..
12,800 on a 4 year old car with 127k miles when the new one is like 25k......just go new
I always buy new and keep 10-12 years.
I always buy used and keep 12-15 years :)
Since 1970 I have only bought new and keep until I want a new one. Life is short, I am not going through it on the cheap. Thankfully, I don't have to.
@@jerrylundegaard2592 I like to let the first owner take the 50% depreciation for the first couple years and then I take the remaining 50% for the next couple decades. My Mercedes and 4Runner don't feel cheap...
@@WhyteHorse2023 That is certainly one way to do it. But not for everyone.
Too funny when you were recovering from the miss on Subaru Forrester.. 😂
When you go to a action, i liked when you showed Alex and the cars you bought at the end of you show.
After walking away from 3 places i bought a damn salvage rebuilt truck and a warranty 8900 under book.
I love how the Saturn Sky handles.
Some cars, the miles don't matter. Any running V8 hardtop stick shift Camaro from before 2003, for example. All that matters is the price and a clean title.
