Traxxas Sledge | Differential Service

- Let’s service the Traxxas Sledge front/rear differentials, and give it a boost of speed. The stock fluid for this machine is 50K front/rear. We will be using 40K for the Front, and 30K for the rear. This should help it corner better on the track, while also giving it quicker rotation for BACKFLIPS! I was going to use 30K for the front, and 20K for the rear but decided to start with a small change to see how it reacts. We will deffinantly update everyone in our next video.
Parts used:
-Marine Grease by Dynamite
-Traxxas #9581 (Carrier, differential/ differential bushing (metal)/ o-rings (2)/ ring gear gasket)
-TLR 30K
-TLR 40K
(Team Losi Racing)

Great job showing step by step! I just bought this truck a couple of months ago and haven't found anyone else that does this good of a job of showing and explaining.
I’m in the process of a few videos, stay tuned.
Please create more sledge stuff
Anything you would like to see? Or anything you need help with please leave a comment. Thank you for watching
@@redbanditracing adjusting steering endpoints, servicing that servo, adjusting gear mesh, better tires for sledge are some good ideas on which there isn’t much content on youtube.
Servo saver tightening
Those are all great ideas, thank you
Thanks
Man. Great video. I’m about to service my diffs for the first time and you really did a good job explaining and showing everything. I can already tell that pin inside the spider gears is really gonna be a pain in the ass though 😂😂
Glad it helped, the service isn’t too bad.
Lincoln logs!!!!!!!!!
Surprised your diffs are in such good shape, my sledge took less than 10 packs before both rear and front diff rings started losing teeth...
When you first got the Sledge did you check the fluids before running it?
Does changing the diff fluid create more heat in the motor?
No, it does not increase motor temperature. It helps cornering, and handling. It may also change how the car reacts when performing stunts.
Yes there is and my screw was missing
It’s a typical long set screw, your hobby store should have them.
I am replacing the diff gears on my sledge, front and rear with the better gears. Should I replace the spur and pinion center diff as well
The center diff hasn’t had any issues, it was only the front/rear.
center diff is good thus far
Hows this setup working out? Cant decide to stay stock oil or change. 20m in the center forsure
Stay with stock, lighter diff oil make the car turn a lot sharper but spins out more often for me. As for the shocks stock is 60W front 50W rear, I like 80W all a round.
You did not remove the pioion gear and when I took mine out there is a hole in the shaft. Does something go in there? I hope not. Can you help?
On the front and rear pinion gear, there should be a hole for the center drive shaft to connect to.
@@redbanditracing There is but no screw
Can you do a video on changing the center diff oil?
You got it, will be out this week. Thank you for the suggestion.
This request comes out this evening.
@@redbanditracing thank you very much.
Dont you have more front ballooning tires with lower weight diff oil?
I honestly didn’t see the difference, but after figuring out all the issues I serviced the center diff back to 20M.
hello, I have a TRAXXAS sledge for exactly a week and I have a problem with the fact that when driving on the rear wheels, the car makes an unpleasant whistle, please help, I don't know what to do with it
Can you duplicate the noise if had the Sledge off the ground?
@@redbanditracing it only does it when I drive on the rear wheels otherwise not when I drive on a flat road fine when I jump fine only when I drive on the rear wheels it beeps
Make sure the tires didn’t come unglued, if that is fine I would check your fluids. I made a video on checking differential fluids. Traxxas doesn’t fill the diffs to correct level. All my new RC cars were all low on fluid from the factory.
@@redbanditracing do you give me the video ?

What grease is that that you used for under the diff cover?
Nevermind😂😂😂 guess I should have continued watching the video😂
No worries, Dynamite makes some nice marine grease.
@redbanditracing I ended up ordering Traxxas marine grease off Amazon, it was $10 and I get it next day.. Dynamite on Amazon said 1 week for delivery😢 I'll be sure to order Dynamite next time lol
I’m sure Traxxas Marine grease is just as good.
I have a question I have a Traxxas ledge and my front alignment seems off for some reason it seems like they want to point toe out I have no idea why is this a normal thing I just recently had my vehicle serviced and I haven't ran it yet but I've noticed it and is it normal or is it something I should be worried about
Usually the rear toe should be slightly inward to help track the front end. The front should be straight, mine is straight. The Sledge does have a few adjustments you can make. If you follow us on IG, you can always send us images so we can see what’s going on to better help.
