Do you have tips to share for anyone who is thinking of buying an electronic cutting machine? Feel free to leave them in the comments so we can all learn from each other. xo
Thank you. Great video. I’m looking to mainly do kids hair bows (including glitter & leather fabrics) and cutting fabric for sewing projects. Maybe some iron on T-shirt decals. Which would you recommend?
Ohhh that sounds fun!! I would still go Silhouette myself personally. I don't have a lot of experience with Circut but I did hear they were having some problems with their newer machines... I don't know for sure, could just be a rumour I heard so worth looking into. I can only speak positively about my experience with Silhouette. I've used these machines for years and years.
Thank you so very much for this video. I actually have a Cameo 4. I bought my through Craft on Line here in Australia. It was the price that made me choose this over the Circut and also because it says it will cut out to a true 12 x 12 size where as some Circut machines were saying it would only cut to 11 3/ 4 inches or round about. I could have that a bit wrong. I purchased my machine when we went into lockdown. I thought with things how they were we might not be able to get our usual craft supplies and I really love the idea that using cut files help to make our crafting papers go further and they do look good on scrapbook pages. I thought the design space is a lot less cluttered than the Circut. I still have lots to learn as I am not tech savvy but I have been very happy with the cut files I have tried out.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us, these details are so helpful!! I have heard that the Cricut Design Space is simpler to use, and what you mentioned about the true 12x12, but a lady I was chatting to at Spotlight just the other day said that you now have to pay monthly for the Cricut software (if you want to keep over a certain number of files) something like that, I'll need to investigate further! There is so much to consider, but I am so so happy with my Silhouette. I mentioned in another comment that I am thinking about getting a Cricut, just so I can experience it all myself and compare fully, it would certainly be interesting! We are all learning as we go, thank you so much for sharing your experiences. 💗
@@CreatedByGwen No joke ^^ I wish we had such great shops. I hate shopping online, but its my only way get what I want/need. Slowly but steady the world is going down the drain...
So true. I actually never saw cutting machines in my usual crafting stores until now … maybe I need to pay more attention but so far I barely see any materials like the vinyl or mats as well
Love my Silhouette. Have had one for 5 years. I think the Cricut is probably good but I got no technical support/customer service from Provocraft back when they had the Imagine. That is when I went with the Silhouette. Hopefully. that situation has improved.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience here Marsha, customer service is EVERYTHING right? From the feedback that's been shared with me, the Cricut software is 'easier' to use especially if you are not super tech savvy... I found Silhouette pretty easy too, like anything, a little practice and experience goes a long way. This choice for me could come down to things like cost of mats and blades and how easily I can get my hands on them.
Great video I would be interested to see the video if you do decide to get rid of your silhouette and get a circuit machine and which one . I also have a silhouette cameo and purchased a joy afterwards. Since my computer has died the silhouette does not have a very good Mobil platform and what they do have is not very user friendly and so many of the features cannot be used on Mobil devices I am finding that the cricket design space has been great and even though I just have the joy there are so many more options. so I am thinking about getting a cricuit and making it my go to just not sure which one Great video thank you again
This is so interesting to me! I actually hadn't considered the differences on mobile, does Silhouette even have a mobile program? I've always just used my Mac Book. That video sure would be a pandoras box of questions!!! I think that's why I've not changed anything. I've been using Silhouette for years and years now, these are my 4 or 5th machines. The Cricut machine I had been looking at is the Explore 3.
Appreciate you doing this for us. I have a joy and while I like it it doesn’t do everything I now want. I’m really interested in the brother scan and cut but I haven’t found one in store here in Australia so trying to work out if the others will do the scan feature / a reasonable work around.
Hey Fran :) The Cricut Joy is a great starter machine, but for me it was not wide enough. I didn't do much research on the Brother Scan and Cut, the accessories were the killer for me, the mats for that machine are CRAZY expensive and a lady I had a chat with at spotlight said there are no 'off brand' versions as yet so you do have to pay full price 😱 I am actually thinking of selling one of my Cameo's and getting a Cricut so that I have one of each machine, I just haven't fully decided what model yet lol Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, it helps us all! xo
@@GlenysCalder My local store had the mats and very limited accessories but no machine to see... I think you could purchase one with a code but there was not one out on display to be able to look at. They did have a bunch of the Cricut models out though, so I could see all of those and compare.

Wow! I have never in my life seen such a well equipped store here in Europe.
Oh really? :( This store is not quite as good these days, but it was nice to see the machines all set up like that.
