I watched your video after I had already received my 900. Did my due diligence and worked in the test bed to verify the numbers. What I especially loved was it's ability to way outperform the 800 on chains and I used the small 14k one that was a surface find the 800 missed. Then today I took it to the trash pit park. In just 2 hours I pulled 4 quarters, 2 dimes and nine shield pennies as well as a very small fine chained, kids silver necklace. I hunt that park often and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The 2nd park is EMI hell and I quit going there because of it. pulled a deep dime and two copper pennies within inches of each other and a deep 67 quarter over by the underground power lines. I could also tell when I was directly over the lines as I would get a deep 97 on the VDI. Had almost no problems with EMI and plan to hammer this park in the spring!

@@danbalser6429 I can honestly admit after 31 years of detecting that this machine although it’s extremely well built and faster processors, it also has a lot of issues with EMI. I shouldn’t have to leave my phone in the truck just to use the 900. That’s all I hear, is leave it in the truck or turn it on airplane mode. I’ve owned every model of metal detectors sold since my first whites 6000 with the analog meter. This is a nice machine but going from a Garrett AT Max and using a 800 before that I don’t see the need to upgrade more than anything up to a 700 if I were you

MUST be a HUGE difference between 8..900...it's not enough to justify that kind of money...when they both do the same thing...

Outside of ergonomics- I don't believe it's worth the Upgrade & 119 VDI notches is overkill. 40 is adequate for 'coin shooting'.

I will agree I like 40 VDI scale better. But everything else about the 900 is great.

I'm my opinion minelab should replace everyone with a 800 to a 900 as the 600 and 800 were both in my opinion rubbish very poorly made , I sold my 800 and would never buy another minelab .

I have both the 800 and 900 and yes its worth the upgrade.
But as for coils . I have tried to use the 800 11 inch coil on the 900 and even though it wont switch the 900 off as if there is no coil it wont work on the 900.
Not tried the other way round yet.
Also on the 900 there is the small 6 inch included so that is a bonus.
Also if you are wealthy enough and can buy the Manticore , you can use the upper 2 shafts of the 900 on the Manticore to save using both shafts of both machines.
Unfortunately you cannot use the 800 stem on the 900 as the 900 needs a bracket for the control box . The underside of the 900 handle is hard fixed to the stem.
Maybe there will be a bracket made by someone then all those Tele Knox stems etc out there wont go Prince Harry , I mean "spare".
If fact the groove down the back of the Tele Knox stem makes it a better stem than the 900 stem. Stops the twist of the stem when adjusting.
Other than that the 900 is a solid machine. Minelab i think have done what they should have done "mostly" in the first place with the 800. About time they got something right. Since the E.Trac!
    5.00
800 . Waterproof to 10 feet? If you dare. Mine is a fair weather machine , splash proof .
    (00 . Waterproof to 16 feet , That's to be seen yet!
    5.50
The numbers on the 900 are far superior to the 800. Too many targets to 1 number. Hard to cherry pick.
I think that using the 900 is actually easier than using full tones on the 800 which is better in 5 tones.
    6.15
I get targets reading 1 to 3 numbers variance but if the sound is right the numbers give you a better idea. It seems the Manticore is similar. Going by Vids i have seen. I dont have that yet.
    6.40
28 Sens works but not everywhere. But you can go higher on average. I think the 35 on the Manticore will be more of an issue.
In the end. What is important? I think quality of build at the price range of the 2 machines. Both are not repairable after warranty that i know of and with only 3 years warranty you need reliability.
So i think the 900 is worth the upgrade but the capability is at best marginal but better numbers.
