Good video.Had my predator 3500 for about a year, and it's just started to show puddles of oil . I'll try this fix soon.

I bought one of those and liked it so much I bought a second one. Both 2020 models that have gas guages. Neither leak at that wire. I pulled that cover to install a small gas filter between shut off and carb. That has a long pull rope so remove cover,,,,pull rope all the way out and tie a simple knot in it so it can't recoil in. Then you can move cover out of the way. You didn't need to remove battery or red wire. Just unplug green connector for the low oil sending unit and reroute it. Unplug that same green connector if it doesn't start as that sending unit sometimes goes bad grounding ignition. Also on some models that red wire rubs on the flat tab by the capacitor destroying the ICM so bend or tie strap wires away from it. If that doesn't stop the oil leak I would clean area super good and try J B Weld. I use mine for power outages or around the farm when needed. Nice video. Thanks.

Thanks, I was wondering how this side came off. Its a shame they didn't make it easy like the other side.

So how did your fix work? I did the same thing to my Predator 3500 but it didn't work. I went back in and applied more Permatex so we shall see how it works now. My other solution is to take a small heat resistant sponge like you would use when cleaning a soldering gun tip and tie wrapping it to the wire coming from the low oil sensor. This will hopefully wick up must of the oil so it doesn't pool on the Ignition Ignitor Module. I will have to change it periodically but that's better then having the ignitor module short out...

@@retiredguyadventures6211 thanks for asking. I just pulled the cover to check mine and found no oil pooling like I had before I put the permatex around the sensor wire. I recently had to add oil after running the generator for about 10 hours under a ~3000 watt load running two RV ACs. Even though I didn't see oil leaking like before, I decided to check. Sorry to hear the fix hasn't worked for you. Maybe adding more sealant will fix it. I agree the sponge will be something you will have to replace periodically.

I have the same harbor freight predator 3500 generator with only 41 hours and have fuel tank rust plus problems. I've been using Sta-bill 360 protection since new and didn't seem to work. Inside the fuel tank was very rusty, the fuel filter (strainer) was plugged. I know after you use the Evapo-Rust you have to flush with water, how did you do this? What's you thoughts, Thanks

I haven't had that issue with mine (yet). I'll keep an eye out. It seems to me that you would have to disassemble far enough to removed the tank in order to be able to treat it, rinse and let it dry out. I've never broken mine down that far to be able to remove the fuel tank.

Did the oil leaking damage the CDI? Did you have to replace the CDI. If I unplug the plug from the CDI it runs great except the shutoff stopped working. Is my CDI bad, or is the oil sensor in the engine bad? Please help

@@kirkwesterveltoutdoors I had to 'dry out' the Ignition Control Module but after a good cleaning including the connectors continued to work fine. You can get the module on Amazon - search for Ignition Control Module TJ113-2009-1

Great video will try this because I have the same problem, by the way did this actually fix the problem? I’m going to do this because I’m desperate but I’d like to know if this actually stop the leak ?

so far it's stopped the leak for me, but I'll admit that only time will tell.
