Just did this on my predator. Love it. I really appreciate the owner being quick to respond if you run into snags. Go buy it and support American made small business! It’s a great product.
Well, just bought this and installed this today. Shipping time wasn't bad, but I did this in the offseason. Going along with the video, it was a super easy install. I was able to start the generator from inside the house. I walked across the cul de sac and was able to get a max start stop distance of 85 feet. I ordered the extended range antenna, so I could have the extra distance. I should be able to either leave my generator in the bed of the truck or use an RV extension cord and get the generator further away from my camper. The only issue I had was the green wire pulled out of the male bullet connector. Didn't think the crimp was 100% tight. I will get new terminals at work tomorrow. Other than that I am really happy with this product and look forward to next camping season. I would recommend this product.
Hey Shawn, Thanks for the feedback. I try to get a good tug on them when I make it before I test them. Maybe I gave it a little too much, haha. I am sorry the connector came loose. I can send a new one if you can't find one. Let me know. Thanks again!
I purchased both the remote start and big wheel kit and both work great. Detailed instructions were included which made install quick and easy. Thanks Kenny, a definite must for all Predator 3500 owners.
Ordered mine and came well packaged. Connected it all up while watching the video. Went together smoothly. It took me three beers but I did utilize the beer coozy that came with my order. Thanks for making it so easy. I highly recommend this product.
Just placed an order for the remote start, big wheels, and the magnetic dipstick. You earned my business solely based on your support of the veterans, and the Black Rifle Coffee Company. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to get the products and install them.
Just put this on last weekend. Best upgrade you can buy for these. Super easy! It was almost fun. Now you need to make a plug switch out so we don't need the twist lock adapter. Keep up the good work!
**update** So finally got around to doing the install. With using 2 hands and took my time along with oil change while I was in there it took an hr. So pretty easy. But man this was what was missing on these generators. Real nice job Kenny putting this together for us. I got the upgraded ant. And my 1 acre yard isnt big enough to get away from it to tell where it stops working. Thanks again brother and a job well done.
Just received mine today best thing ever I use this generator on my semi truck I hate coming out to start or stop this remote start is worth every penny and kenny is big help if you have any problems he knows what he’s doing and very simple to install just follow the video and have all tools they recommend. 🙏🏼👌🏻👍🏻.
After hace some issue i send a mail to this guys after 4 hours they call me and in 5 min we fix the small problem.was the control way for start the generator .thanks guy you are the best
Worked great, lost my install update paperwork and GHS responded quickly with the docs and walked me through some questions with some photos about my choke reset questions. My kit had some upgrades not shown in the video so hang onto the paperwork when installing..
Got the v2.0 kit and 7" wheels for Predator 3500 with right brake. Installation was very easy and quick! I look forward to doing business with them in the future!!! 🍺 Cheers!
Dam dude you got. Just ordered it. It's on it's way. You have figured out the only flaw with the predator. I've put quite a few hrs on my at 500 ft above sea level and at 7500 ft. Works great. This little add on will make it so nice on those cold mornings.
Thank's very good video, when mounting the new remote choker pull system check the original choke pull wire get back in exactly same position, you can see the pull wire is squeezed a little from the anker screw, I missed the original position with 1/2" so generator would only run for 5 minutes and then stall, correcting the original wire position fixed the issue.
Thanks for the information on changing the battery on the remote and for showing me how to reprogram my spare as well. Very few people ever get back to you when your having a problem. You did so in a timely manner . It's obvious you care about your customers and your products. Again thanks. It was - 8 degrees Fahrenheit here in Northern Ontario and the remote start worked awesome. Thank goodness it has a separate choke button as I had to choke it even after it started for a couple of seconds more then usual to keep it running. I strongly recommend this remote start to anyone living off grid like we do.
When putting the cable into the choke slot, it came out a couple of times. I drilled a small hole through the top and put in a small cotter pin, which solved the problem of popping out.
Just installed it. Super simple, video directions are perfect. I did use a zip tie to hold choke cable and actuator cable together to make sure they did not slip out of the choke knob. Works great. No more getting out of the warm trailer in the morning or at night to start the generator. Thanks Kenny, also nice touch with the little personal note on the receipt. Looking to get the upgraded wheels next.
I bought this kit with the remote extender and wheel upgrade. His video makes it easy to install everything. Since I ordered the extended range antennae, I chose to take off the junction box on the left side (has two screws) and there is a hole behind it that I ran the antennae out. This way I have the wire coming out the side panel instead of the front of the control panel. This allows me to tuck the antennae inside the side panel when not in use. Not sure if anyone else has done the same or has a better recommendation? Anyway, hopes this helps. Thanks for everything, Kenny!!
I just noticed you might have a upgrade to extend the remote from 60 ft to 250 we live off grid this would be great because we are just about our limit at 60 ft
Really enjoy your informative videos I installed your remote kit quite a while ago notice that remote have trouble starting and stopping I tried to take remote apart to change battery but it felt like I was going to break it so I left it is it possible to show me how it's done thahks

@@generatorupgradesupply8953 Got it installed this morning. Super easy, just had the video playing in the background. Works like a charm. Hey Kenny! I got my kit and I'm putting it in watching this video. I'm going slow and taking my time. I just thought this would be an interesting data set while I was doing it live.... Start time 5:00 Eastern Time.
Realistically, it took me an hour but it was a lot due to chasing a stupid dog that got out jumping over a privacy fence and being interrupted by my daughter, etc. it really wasn’t stressful at all. Other than chasing the dumb dog. Going on a boondocking trip this weekend to try it out!

Just got my remote start way up here in Canada in fast time and was super easy to put in directions were on point absolutely pleased with this product 2 thumbs up
One good point is that if you rotate the knob to the off position (which shuts off the gas supply to the carburetor) without pushing the kill button the generator will continue to run until all of the gas in the carburetor is burned. This is great and will keep the carb from possibly fowling. I’d love to order two kits but your website won’t ship to my address in Alabama or Florida???
Hey Give us a call and I can put it in manually. 307-316-2021 This happened this morning for someone in CA as well and when I put it in manually it was fine. I am looking into what is causing that. Sorry about that. *Update: I believe I found the issue, it had to do with adding 2 to the cart, my weights and shipping settings were not talking to each other. If you give it a try again let me know if that fixed the issue. Thanks again!
Bought one of the kits it came in a few weeks ago. I finally got around to putting it on the gen and I ha e to say it was easy to install. Had to do some adjustments to the l bracket but other then that it was easy. Thanks for the can coozy and stickers. Will Def buy another..
Hey Patrick, Thank you for the kind words! I do have a few other generators built now on the site. I have the 9500w Predator, the WEN 3800 and all of the 3500 clones like the Loncin, Powerhorse, and Generac. We are constantly trying to add more so if you have one in mind let me know! Thanks again!
My 3500 just died. As it was running it started struggling with no load, I then went shut it off and restart but nothing. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to start with replacing parts/pieces? Plenty of fuel, oil just changed, spark plug looks good. thank you. Also, if it gets fixed I am def ordering from you, too cool, thanks again
Hey, It could be a number of things. The ones that have helped me are 1. Cleaning and/or removing the spark arrestor in the back of the exhaust. 2. if you have ever overfilled it with gas it may have leaked into the charcoal canister. You can unplug that to see if that helps get you started. I would start with those two tings.
Once the remote start system is installed does the ESC Throttle switch remain in the off position unless manually switched? The starting instructions indicate to always start the generator with the switch off.
I have a couple of questions please... that i did not see addressed in this video.... thank you! Excellent demonstration video!!! 😀👍 1. How far of a range (feet or meters), will the stock remote start the generator from, while inside, say, as a camp trailer? Verses the upgrade extended range antenna? 2. Does your company make this remote for other brands of generators?
Hey Jim Good questions. The current model has had a few upgrades since the video with another one coming soon as far as range goes. Starting has always been at least 300 feet. Stopping has been the tough part because of the electrical interference when it is running. Currently you can get about 60 feet stopping. However, I did just have a nice breakthrough with an antenna configuration in the new module I am using that will get about 240 feet!! I am having them built now and will be including them as the only option moving forward. I hope to have that updated in the next couple of weeks. As for the second question I have a long list of models I will be creating them for but nothing out yet. Thanks again!
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 ok great!! I just went out and purchased the Predator 3500 and then promptly got online and ordered a remote kit from you yesterday, Sept 2nd, 21. Looking forwards to getting it here and installed for my next RV adventure!!! 😂👍
I received the remote kit the other day, and had it up and working in about a half an hour. Easy-peasy instructions. Mine started it up at 150ft... I didn't try farther.... and it will turn off at about 100ft... including a few obstacles like vehicles and my camper in the way. So far I'm very happy and impressed. It's going to make deer and elk camping into deer and elk.... GLAMPING!!!! THANK YOU!!! Jim. 😂👍
I would like to buy a pull handle for the Predator that attaches to one of the lift handles and folds over the top of the generator. I hate bending over so far to push or pull it to where it will be used.
Installed this weekend. Very easy and quick actually fun project. Works great. Oh ya almost forgot. I run my 3500 till it runs out of gas so I don't have to deal with gas additives. Is this OK??..Thanks.
Wondering if this will work on a Firman Generator. Same basic gas engine with choke control. Guys have made them but not the whole functionality with stop and choke included.
We have a Predator 3500 and will be considering this kit for sure! We also have a Powerhorse 7500i. Any chance you'll be doing a kit for that generator?
Thanks for the support! Best value out there in my opinion (includes the Powerhorse 3500 from Northern Tool). You take care of it and it will take care of you!
I would love to buy one for everyone I know but starting a generator under a load is a no no! Turning it off under a load is a no no. The manuel that comes with these generators strictly says, start the generator and then plug in the power. I might be mistaken but can you help clear this up. Thank you
Excellent vid, will get one soon, my 3500 predator stop/run/start knob is not shutting off engine when I turn it to the off position, (400 hrs ) what part replacement would you recommend? Or what fix would you recommend?
I ordered, purchased and installed the remote start which has worked great for my deer and elk camp. But sadly this year suddenly my remote start acts like it's not choking. It spins the starter fine. But I have to manually start it when cold. I can let it run and once warmed up it will start on its own. But I'm suspecting the choke solenoid is faulty. It kills the engine with the remote still. Can I get just a new solenoid to fix it? Thanks! Jim.
Update: emailed “GUP” and they told me I had connected to the wrong set of black wires. Made the switch and it works! Guess they didn’t quite make it idiot proff🤪 Thanks guys, can’t wait to get out camping and impress my wife!!
I’ve installed the remote and at first very pleased. On my current camping trip I had my generator off and left my camp site for about six hours. When I returned the generator was running. I later discovered that if the radio receiver is on it starts up on its own without my use of the remote. So if you leave the generator unattended turn the radio receiver switch off. The camp ground is filled to capacity I’m just wondering if someone’s car key fob is actively starting the generator. Other wise a great product despite this hiccup.
Hey John, shoot me an email so I can get a replacement out to you. I have recently upgraded the module I am using and would like to get one out to you. Generatorupgradesupply@gmail.com
Gotta give a follow up on my previous post regarding unintentional startup. Kenny saw my post and acted quickly to get a replacement part to me to rectify my problem without me asking for it. Now that’s customer service! I installed the part and currently i’m camping and remote is working better than ever.
I'd personally like to see a switch added to the front of receiver allowing the user to switch off the light on the unit after installation to lower power drain just a little more Just curious, why not make the unit antenna a little longer, and run it beside choke solenoid for longer receive distance. The longer the antenna, the better!!
There is a kill switch in this kit to shut it off when not in use. It comes with the kit. (About the 11 min mark on the video) I agree on the antenna and we are about to release an extended range antenna option in the next couple of weeks. It will help if you need more range when stopping because of the interference the generator creates and how your set up is. Staring works no problem from 300 ft or more.
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 thanks for the reply. I watched the video in its entire length, and I am aware of the switch put in the front panel. When the switch in the front panel is ON, so is the indicator. (Wheather gen is running or not) If for instance, the switch is ON, but genny is NOT running, that indicator is still using power. My suggestion is another switch to allow user to turn off/disable indicator when receiver is on, but genny is NOT running. Or a simple on/off tag for the panel toggle. Cant see the Led when panel is closed anyway. Great video, will be ordering 1 soon, and maybe I'll do a video on it👍👍
@@Guns_N_Gears it seems like an on/off sticker would do what you’re looking for. I had that thought too since you have to orient it a certain way to make sure up = on. But I may be off on what you’re thinking. Always open to ideas and feedback so thank you!
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 correct, you are on the right track!!! A simple sticker would do the same, but there are toggle tags in metal that come with most switches, and they are indexed.
@@Guns_N_Gears yea I was surprised these didn’t come with that. It was hard to find ones in bulk, good quality, and consistent, the right size for that hole believe it or not. I’ll work on that. Thanks for the feedback.
Remote Range and Antenna Options: Stock Antenna: Starting- Range will exceed 100 yards. Stopping- Because of the electrical interference while the generator is running the stopping range is diminished. Line of sight you can expect up to 40 yards. With walls or obstacles it could be as little as 8-10 yards depending on your set up. Extended Range Antenna Option (+$15): Starting- Range will exceed 200 yards. Stopping- The extended range antenna has been tested up to 20 yards obstructed through walls and has performed. It also comes with a magnetic base and an 8 ft cable to help maximize height or placement of the antenna for maximum range depending on your set up. Getting it away from the generator will also maximize your stopping range.
Where did you mount your module? You're the most recent post, all the others are a year out. The space behind my control panel is not deep enough for the module.
Hey Pat, I am just seeing this comment. I apologize for that. It is a bit different now than on the video with the upgraded version. You won't use the C button anymore. The A button controls the starter and choke at the same time. If we haven't spoken yet about this give me a call, text, or email. 307-316-2021 generatorupgradesupply@gmail.com Also, I will be adding a new video for the new styles with the wheel brake on the left and the CO sensor as well. Thanks for hanging in there and working with me on this.
Do you have a kit for the newer version generator. All the wiring looks different, even the air cleaner has been revised and is in the way of actuator for the choke. Thanks
Hey, I do have the kit for both styles. The easiest way to tell which one you have is what side the wheel brake is on as you are looking at the control panel. Just select the correct one after you checkout or email me. Also, since they still sell both styles I created the new kit with a universal pigtail so that we only have to replace the wire harness if you have to warranty or get a new one and end up with the different style. Thanks again!
Awesome video on how to install your remote switch. I have the 3500 and have had it for about 4 plus years so far. I am having a problem right now with mine. When I go to turn it off it keeps wanting to run and chug, and like it's dying but just won't shut off until it runs out of gas. Any idea what it could be?
Hey, it sounds like the stop switch isn't grounding out the generator. When you turn it to "stop" it turns the gas off as well as activates the stop switch which essentially grounds the generator out and stops it right away. I would check that stop switch first.
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 For the life of me I can't see in that tiny hole on the Start, Run, Off knob to see what type screw driver is needed. I have tried a few long small Phillips and won't bit on anything. Is it a special one?
Hi. Since keeping the remote start module energized is presumptively a requirement to allow it to receive a remote start signal, and keeping this module energized requires some battery power, it is reasonable to believe that if the generator's battery is hooked up to a shore powered trickle charger, that the remote start module can remain energized, and that the trickle charger will replace the small charge lost in the battery from not only the forces of time against an untapped battery, but additionally, the charge lost to the energized remote start box?
You are correct and the trickle charger would replace any lost battery power the module requires. You would have to keep it on for a week or so without charging or starting the generator to drain the battery.
For the people that use their generators ice fishing in extremely cold conditions. When it gets really cold generally you need to let the generator run with choke on for 10 to 20 seconds to allow it to warm up before switching to run position. In this situation would you just release S once it started and continue to hold C until you wanted choke to turn off? Would this cause actuator to fail prematurely?
Hey Shaun Man we are in different worlds! I’m out here in AZ. I do have a few customers that use them ice fishing in Minnesota. Although I haven’t heard that they have to keep it choked for a while before turning to run. Just being open, I have not done enough testing in the extreme cold to know for sure but I am sure it depends on how long it is activated for especially with vibrations. Maybe I need to take a trip up and do some testing! If it does I am more than happy to send out a new one. Always looking to innovate and improve.
Do you need to manually flip the switch before using the remote start? I think if you leave it on all the times, it will drain the battery, correct? Also, would this work on a Champion Generator with electric start?
Hey, thanks for the question. If you don't run the generator for about a week with the switch on it will drain it. As long as you are running it it will charge the battery. I don't have a kit yet for the Champion. If you shoot me an e-mail to generatorupgradesupply@gmail.com we can try and work one out. Thanks again!
Does anyone knowif this generator can me hooked up to my inverters auto gen start for when the batteries get low it could automatically start the generator? Any help appreciated

Great kit! I would really like to have one for my 7kw Black Max generator.
I received mine today!! Nice job Kenny. Thanks
Let me know if you have any questions. Always here!
Where do you buy?
Bought one of the kits it came in a few weeks ago. I finally got around to putting it on the gen and I ha e to say it was easy to install. Had to do some adjustments to the l bracket but other then that it was easy. Thanks for the can coozy and stickers. Will Def buy another..
I 100% recommend this product it really works. The step by step video is spot on. Do you have this for any other generators
Thank you liked and subscribed great job keep up the good work and stay safe
Thank you very much your Kit and online video is so EZ and the kit really works. You need to make this for more generators.
Waiting for mine. Looking fwd to it! Just ran across this. A fb ad got me. 🤣😂
Thanks for the order Michael. I will be working on yours and shipping it out soon! Working through a high demand of orders that came in last week.
Hello. My control knob fell off. Any suggestions as to tweaking it to start. Harbor Freight parts say its not one of the parts they sell. HELP!!!!!
Hey we just added a replacement knob to the shop!
generatorupgradesupply.com/products/control-knob
Next, add a button to allow it to go to conserve mode (where it even quieter). awesome gear.
Once the remote start system is installed does the ESC Throttle switch remain in the off position unless manually switched? The starting instructions indicate to always start the generator with the switch off.
That is correct. We will be working on adding the esc function in the future but for now it is still manual if you want to use it.
good job, also very informative!!!!
Thank you!
Just placed my order, awesome idea !
MUCHAS GRACIAS POR EXCELENTE VIDEO...☆☆☆☆☆
Este video me ayudó mucho, excelente!
Saludos desde Puerto Rico!
Perhaps there's a way to make it so that the start/run knob operates the kill switch as well, eliminating the need for an external kill switch.
It would be that you come out with this now that i came off the road and dont need my generator any more.
Elitestreams HD has that fuel bypass thing I was telling you about this morning. 👍👍
Just checked it out. That’s really slick!
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 Maybe it would easy to add to ur plug n play. Have a good evening.
I have a couple of questions please... that i did not see addressed in this video.... thank you! Excellent demonstration video!!! 😀👍
Jim. 😂👍
@@jimalbrecht8803 Thanks for the feedback Jim! I am glad you are getting great range with the new module!
Great to heat it went well! If you’re not storing it with gas it should be fine.
Wondering if this will work on a Firman Generator. Same basic gas engine with choke control. Guys have made them but not the whole functionality with stop and choke included.
Very nice video.
Nice to know this is available. Can you still start the unit with the onboard electric start button when your system is installed? Thanks!
Thanks, yes it works just like normal even with this installed. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@generatorupgradesupply8953 : Thanks! That was the only thing holding me back from making this mod.
I’ve been looking for a 2 wire start stop kit. I don’t need wireless bur need to be able to start with a contact closure.
Do you have a kit like this that will work on a Champion generator?
We have a Predator 3500 and will be considering this kit for sure! We also have a Powerhorse 7500i. Any chance you'll be doing a kit for that generator?
Hey I just subscribed. Excellent video. What do you think of these 3500 inverter generators by predator.
Thank you
Where do you get your sockets for your 7mm ratchet?
Excellent vid, will get one soon,
my 3500 predator stop/run/start knob is not shutting off engine when I turn it to the off position, (400 hrs ) what part replacement would you recommend? Or what fix would you recommend?
I ordered, purchased and installed the remote start which has worked great for my deer and elk camp. But sadly this year suddenly my remote start acts like it's not choking. It spins the starter fine. But I have to manually start it when cold. I can let it run and once warmed up it will start on its own. But I'm suspecting the choke solenoid is faulty. It kills the engine with the remote still. Can I get just a new solenoid to fix it? Thanks! Jim.
Hey Jim, absolutely. Shoot me an email at generatorupgradesupply@gmail.com and I'll set you up. Thanks!
GREAT JOB, but how do you do all of that with one hand holding the phone ?? 😃😃😃 Thanks
Lots of practice! It was about 120 in the garage at the time as well so I was also sweating my butt off!
Will it work with either the Duromax13000 or the Westinghouse 12500 generators? thanks in advance.
Installed and it was pretty easy following along to the video install. Only problem is that the remote won’t shut off the generator
Update: emailed “GUP” and they told me I had connected to the wrong set of black wires. Made the switch and it works! Guess they didn’t quite make it idiot proff🤪
Thanks guys, can’t wait to get out camping and impress my wife!!
Glad we were able to get you up and running!! Enjoy it! Let me know if you have any questions. Always here!
Is there any 2 wire start interface available. Want to auto start to charge batteries.
Have you looked into this working on Generac IQ3500? That seems to be a very quiet gen that would be even better with remote start.
Thanks
I have the same problem
Gotta give a follow up on my previous post regarding unintentional startup. Kenny saw my post and acted quickly to get a replacement part to me to rectify my problem without me asking for it. Now that’s customer service! I installed the part and currently i’m camping and remote is working better than ever.
@@johnwashburn48 glad it’s working great! Have an awesome trip. Let me know if you need anything. Always here.
@@rodneypatterson3268 hey let me know how that replacement is working and if you have any questions.
works on honda eu30 generator?
I'd personally like to see a switch added to the front of receiver allowing the user to switch off the light on the unit after installation to lower power drain just a little more
Just curious, why not make the unit antenna a little longer, and run it beside choke solenoid for longer receive distance.
The longer the antenna, the better!!
There is a kill switch in this kit to shut it off when not in use. It comes with the kit. (About the 11 min mark on the video)
I agree on the antenna and we are about to release an extended range antenna option in the next couple of weeks.
(Wheather gen is running or not)
If for instance, the switch is ON, but genny is NOT running, that indicator is still using power.
Is there a way to set up it to start and stop with low voltage?????
Working on any remote starts for the 8700 generator?
Hey what is the rang for the remote start.
Remote Range and Antenna Options:
Stock Antenna:
Starting- Range will exceed 100 yards.
Stopping- Because of the electrical interference while the generator is running the stopping range is diminished. Line of sight you can expect up to 40 yards. With walls or obstacles it could be as little as 8-10 yards depending on your set up.
Extended Range Antenna Option (+$15):
Starting- Range will exceed 200 yards.
Just got mine installed. Noticed that it isn’t activating the choke when it starts. I have the new kit with the wheel lock on the left
307-316-2021 generatorupgradesupply@gmail.com
Also, I will be adding a new video for the new styles with the wheel brake on the left and the CO sensor as well.
Typically generators shouldn’t be shut down under load, this a non-issue?
Is that kit only for predators or can it be installed on any generator?
You would have to keep it on for a week or so without charging or starting the generator to drain the battery.
with this work with the new 9500 watt predator to?
For the people that use their generators ice fishing in extremely cold conditions. When it gets really cold generally you need to let the generator run with choke on for 10 to 20 seconds to allow it to warm up before switching to run position. In this situation would you just release S once it started and continue to hold C until you wanted choke to turn off? Would this cause actuator to fail prematurely?
Hey Shaun
Man we are in different worlds!
Do you have one for a honda 2200u
